  • Weā€™re often Type A, perfectionists, driven to succeed. But at what cost?

The legal world rewards the grind.

Long hours, back-to-back meetings, endless emails.

We push ourselves because we think thatā€™s what it takes.

But here's the thing ā€“ are we burning out without even realizing it?

When youā€™re always running at 100%, itā€™s easy to lose sight of what truly matters. I used to think I could power through it. But now, I see the cracks.

The constant stress, the lack of balanceā€¦ it catches up with you.

    Hereā€™s what Iā€™ve learned: prioritizing health isnā€™t a luxury ā€“ itā€™s a necessity.

If we keep ignoring it, weā€™ll pay the price.

What if we stopped glorifying the hustle? What if we made room for well-being?

Because in the end, a burned-out lawyer isnā€™t a successful one.

Today I'm talking with Grace Williams, ex solicitor turned Health & Nutrition coach working with ambitious women to create more energy, balance and success in both their health & work, focusing on nutrition and lifestyle tools to manage stress and improve their gut health.

In this episode, find out as a lawyer to prioritise health in a culture that thrives on grinding. Find out how to recognise burn out in yourself and how to put your wellbeing first in law.

  • This conversation has transformed the way I think about commercial awareness. I always thought it was a barrier to getting training contracts and solicitor jobs.

But in actual fact, understanding what is going on in the news and applying it to law and your firm/ prospective firm is one of the most underrated and successful ways you can stand out and be seen in your firm even as a junior or in an application process.

This episode is vital for you if you want to build a successful career in law. Noone is talking about how you can leverage commercial awareness in your career.

We talk about how the commercial awareness requirement in applications can be a barrier for many people. And, how many lawyers can use it to their advantage.

Today I'm chatting with Idin Sabahipour, founder of LittleLaw.

    What is LittleLaw?

  • If you want to know what it's really like behind the scenes in a law firm, the politics, the internal dynamics, the secrets, and the impact of lawyer exposure on LinkedIn, this episode is for you.

Today I'm talking with Gabriel Olearnik - He is honest about what happens behind the scenes if lawyers post on LinkedIn, the impact of posting, internal law firm politics, what goes on in partner meetings, how to become partner, when you know you're not up for becoming partner and the future of law in terms of AI.

Over the last few years, Gabriel has been involved in over 430 disputes with an aggregate value of $100 billion and have closed several innovative deals, with a particular emphasis on private equity investments and investment treaty arbitrations.

In the wider context, Gabriel's cultural output has been extensively published in the United States, including in Dappled Things and the San Diego Reader, as well as for the $4.6 billion launch of the F-35 Winged Hussar jetfighter. He also provided live commentary on British culture for a national TV audience on the occasions of Prince Harry and Meghan Markleā€™s wedding and the death of Queen Elizabeth II, with peak audience viewing of over 2 million.

  • Have you ever considered that your environment could affect your results? Your environment is absolutely vital. Who you spend time with, where you spend your time and what you consume all contribute to your environment. Depending on what you're trying to succeed in, you may decide to surround yourself in different environments.

In this episode, I chat with Brian Dixon about how your environment and the culture you put yourself in can affect your productivity levels and can lead to burnout too. Brian talks from the perspective of a digital nomad lawyer, but he also shares a story about his dad who was a lawyer who suffered a heart attack and continued to complete his work before he sought medical help.

  • Digital nomad life isn't about sipping margaritas on a beach in Bali whilst answering your emails. It's about mindset, discipline and focus. You have to almost forget the mindset you adopted when you were a lawyer working in an office. This includes the billable hour.

In this episode, I chat with Brian Dixon about the impact that billable hour has on self-worth. Do you calculate the cost of personal activities based on how long it will take you to bill?

When you become fixated on trading your time for money, you can begin to devalue yourself and your work. Is the billable hour outdated?

As a digital nomad, working based on the billable hour can almost conflict with your lifestyle. You have to start thinking in a value-based way.

  • In this behind-the-scenes episode, I talk about the idea behind creating the "Unpacking Narcissism & Gaslighting in Law: The Root To Toxic Cultures? podcast episode with Alana Tart.

There are so many dynamics which occur in law firms, which unfortunately can encourage one of the greatest hallmarks that we put as being narcissistic behaviour.

Today I'm talking with Alana Tart. She is a fractional general counsel for SMEs and an executive coach and mindfulness teacher. Alana has told me that she understands gaslighting and narcissistic patterns intimately. She grew up around these behaviours. And in most of her workplaces, they have been accepted, if not rewarded.

In this conversation, we get into the nitty gritty of narcissistic behaviour in the legal industry, the psychology behind it, and how lawyers can recognize it and become almost immune to it, whilst keeping their career intact.

Alana understands gaslighting and narcissistic patterns intimately. In addition to lived expertise, she has psychology degrees, is a certified UK counsellor and a trained mindfulness and compassion teacher -- proven ways of both helping people become more immune to gaslighting and narcissism from others and also understanding how they can reduce these tendencies in themselves.

Alana Tart is dedicated to helping professionals reclaim their sense of self and power, especially when life feels like it's slipping or imploding.

Whether you're facing job insecurities or personal challenges, she helps you rebuild a solid foundation. If you're dealing with toxicity, she guides you through navigating, protecting yourself, and inoculating against future issues. For those seeking meaning, she reconnects you to your essence and helps you rediscover your path.
