Caroline Chambers grew up in the kitchen on her momâs hip, learning how to cook in their Winston-Salem, North Carolina, home. Her professional food career began in her early twenties when she worked as a chef and caterer. After a stint in a professional test kitchen, Caro struck out on her own as a freelancer, developing recipes for a host of publications as well as brands such as Boursin Cheese and Kim Crawford Wine, and in 2018, she published her first cookbook, Just Married. In 2020âat the height of the COVID-19 pandemicâCaro began sharing her recipes and connecting with home cooks on Instagram (@carochambers ), and launched her newsletter, What to Cook When You Donât Feel Like Cooking, which flew to the top of the Substack charts; her podcast, So Into That, followed in 2023. Letâs face it, in todayâs world, so many things make life stressful. But our bodies werenât designed to be in a state of stress, all the time. Weâre supposed to metabolize our stress and move through it.
The problem is, instead of facing a stressful situation every few months, weâre experiencing stress daily, so we canât cycle through it and return to a baseline level of stress.
Thatâs why so many people are struggling with overwhelm and burnout.
BossMoms have more on their plates than anyone else on the planet, so weâre more prone to burnout and overwhelm. Cue the waking up tired, the brain fog, feeling unmotivated and crying in the shower. Weâre living on the edge of what we can handle, and our brains constantly feel like they are under threat.
How do we identify overwhelm and burnout and bring ourselves out of it? In this episode, Iâm joined by attorney, pastor, Nervous System Expert, and Certified Master Life Coach, Michelle Grosser.
