The last testament of a dying man always carries a lot of weight. Before going to the cross, Jesus prayed for the birth of the church (made up of Jewish and Non-Jewish believers) but even more importantly for the unity of the church. Jesus was praying to the Father for the same level of unity that exists in the Godhead for us, His disciples. For the church (the bride of Christ) to be able to host the next move of God, it is imperative that we endeavour to keep this unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. It is important to also note that the key to unity among believers is experiencing the glory of God which Jesus has imparted to us. As one with God through faith in Jesus Christ, He shares His glory with us and we have been made one with the triune God through the blood of Jesus. We are therefore God’s glory carriers and we need to see ourselves as such. Living in this reality would begin to shape how we see ourselves and conduct our lives.
