We continue our journey through distress tolerance skills with IMPROVE and Self-soothe. IMPROVE is used to make each moment better and can be used when in distress or as a preventative measure. Self-soothe involves using your 6 senses to calm yourself and can also be used in distress or as a preventative measure.

In this episode, we start learning skills from the distress tolerance module. This module is made up of two types of skills: crisis survival and distress tolerance. We kick it off with the ACCEPTS skill, used for distracting with Wise Mind, and the TIPP skill, used to reduce strong emotional arousal.

Over the summer, I did a virtual presentation for the Yurok Tribe about using DBT to deal with grief. It was tailored for native youth but the information can be helpful for everyone so I thought I'd post it.
