Particularly sexual violence, long taboo was finally becoming exposed. Obviously it has gone in and out of the shadows since then, but that was an important โ€œoutingโ€ that rapidly determined the direction of my work as a therapist.I soon discovered that a vast majority of my clients came to therapy because they found relationship difficult to seemingly impossible. Long compelled by the conundrum of relationship (in part because it had been so difficult for me!) this became my specialty. I began to avidly study trauma, then barely known, as the PTSD diagnosis only came into being in 1980! When the 1990โ€™s brought โ€œthe decade of the brain,โ€ I became a dogged student of neuroscience, since trauma affects the ordinary function of brain and nervous system. It wasnโ€™t long before I learned that sexuality was a massive challenge for the traumatized and set out to add sex therapy to my tool box by becoming a certified sex therapist. Research verified that relationship and sexuality are indeed some of the most hard hit areas for the traumatized. What to do about this became my mission of the last 40 years.Last time Dr Ruth was on https://youtu.be/wmoixDm56Ws?si=8OHqNk3Wco8QJ3Eu1:03 Gunkelmentary Clips and discussion https://youtu.be/tvOVKhi3p_U?si=8o_YPLxegDf361mE https://youtu.be/slN1e2vpy_s?si=2Wm0JkW6LQ-FXHiV3:58 Talking about sex4:10 AI dating Sites6:14 Naomi Wolf The Porn Myth https://nymag.com/nymetro/news/trends/n_9437/7:56 Attachment Trauma8:12 Sex Education in schools depends on politics of current government administration9:16 Abstinence Doesn't work in an extreme conservative society10:15 Need to talk about sex more12:02 Side Affects of drugs and sex14;50 Females use sex as power dynamic "Sex Refusal"16:24 Does this affect population?
