  • In this episode you and I discover the wisdom - and how to apply that wisdom - of "Rich Dad Poor Day" author Robert Kiyosaki's insight: "A question opens the mind, a statement closes the mind".

One useful affirmation template: "I choose to (action) _________________ so that (benefit) ______________.

Here are 3 suggested affirmations to put Robert Kiyosaki's wisdom to work in your life.

Affirmation 1: I recognize questions can enhance my professional and personal power. Therefor, I choose to incorporate questions daily into my conversations with other people and for my own personal problem solving so that I can be more effective in my everyday life.

Affirmation 2: When I catch myself being self-critical, I will say - preferably out loud if possible - cancel, cancel, cancel that thinking pattern. I will then ask empowering questions that guide me to an accurate assessment of a situation and the creation of empowering options for change if change is needed so I can engage in continuous improvement in the important areas of my life.

Affirmation 3: I choose to engage in conversations with my significant other using questions such as "Where I have I missed the mark over the past week?" "How can I be a better partner in the week ahead so our relationship can even be stronger and deeper?"

    Important note:

You must avoid any hint of defensiveness. Listen to what your partner offers you with an open heart and mind. The first time you apply this action your partner will likely be guarded and reluctant to give any critical feedback. Reassure your partner you honestly want to be a better partner and you're willing to listen and make changes toward that goal.

Remember, Affirmations are previews of coming attractions! When your choices align with your heart's desire and your highest good, Affirmations keep you focused

Your self-talk, the words you consistently say within your mind and out loud and the words you say to others, all matter. Questions can gently guide and support you in changing your self-talk to be more honest and more helpful.

    Short, Focused Affirmations:

So why should you make short, focused affirmations a part of your everyday life? What’s in for you?

Here’s one important reality: Words matter. Words you say in mind, also called self-talk, and words you say out loud are all affirmations.

Every statement you make about yourself, to yourself, about other people, and about circumstances in your life are affirmations. Your subconscious mind is always listening so it’s vital to choose positive words that empower your health, wealth, relationships and emotional wellbeing.

Your self-talk, the words you consistently say within your mind and out loud, and the words you say to others, all matter.

Empowering self-talk motives you to achieve what you were put in this world to achieve and the words you speak and write inspire others to do the same.

    How This Podcast Works:

The way this podcast works is I share an inspiring quote, I offer brief commentary about that quote, and I suggest one or more affirmations you can choose to use to make create positive results in your life.

    Stephen King's Guidance:

Let's again hear author Stephen King's words:

"You can, you should, and if you’re brave enough to start, you will."

What is King talking about? Your goals.

Does it really take bravery to start?

For most of us most of the time it absolutely takes bravery to reach outside of our comfort zone. Why?

    Fear.

Fear of failure and perhaps fear of success. Yes, we can be afraid of success.

There are many reasons why fear of success can occur. We can be worried about what others in our circle of family and friends will say if we achieve a significant goal, particularly if that goal relates to money.

We can be afraid somehow, "I'll change; I'll become someone else; Who am I to achieve this goal?".

What about fear of failure? "What if I fail? I'm afraid people will ridicule me, laugh at me, judge me, if I fail. I'm afraid I'll judge myself as a loser. And I will be a loser!".

Some of our fear of failure will be conscious and some will be subconscious. When going for a stretch goal, it's important to recognize you may experience subconscious resistance.

If the goal speaks to your heart, to your highest values, if it's a 9 or 10 on a zero to 10 scale of desire? Move forward one tiny step at a time. Feel the fear and do it anyway.

    Suggested Affirmations:

Here are my affirmation suggestions for you to consider:

I choose to create and see in mind daily powerful images of what it will look like, sound like, and feel like when I achieve this goal.

I choose to achieve this goal in tiny steps if necessary even if I experience subconscious or conscious resistance as long as this goal continues to speak to my heart and my highest values.

    Returning to Stephen King's guidance,

"I choose to affirm, I can, I should, and I am brave enough to start now and to finish."

Podcast Episodes Will be Brief and Focused

This podcast is designed to be brief, focused, and to the point. For more expansive discussion of affirmations, research, and guided meditations, visit our www.PositiveWordPower.com show website.

So why should you make short, focused affirmations a part of your everyday life? What’s in for you?

Here’s one important reality: Words matter. Words you say in mind, also called self-talk, and words you say out loud are all affirmations.

Every statement you make about yourself, about other people, and circumstances in your life are affirmations. Your subconscious mind is always listening so it’s vital to choose positive words that empower your health, wealth, relationships and emotional wellbeing.

Let’s begin with learning to feel words in your body. Why is this important? Because words you speak have energy signatures in your body. Recognizing those signatures, how words feel, is the first step to harnessing the energy of words to enhance wellbeing and achieve your chosen goals.

Once you learn how positive, empowering words feel in comparison to disempowering words, you’re far more likely to bring positive, empowering words into your internal self-talk and in your conversations with other people, including your loved ones.

Start by assuming a comfortable position. If you’re sitting, sit upright in a comfortable way, head up, ears over shoulders, shoulders over hips. If you can do so safety, close your eyes.

Tune into your body. Notice any areas of tension. Notice how your body feels. Get an overall sense of your current stress level in this moment.

Allow a comfortable in-breath for 4 or 5 seconds and then allow a comfortable out-breath for an additional 5 or 6 seconds. Repeat the in and out breath pattern two more times.

Place your hand(s) to your heart. Either right hand or left hand touching heart area is fine. Really feel the physical connection of your hand(s) to the chest area over your heart. Allow two more in and out-breaths.

Say the word, “Gentle” out loud. As you again allow two more gentle in and out-breaths, tune into your body. Notice where you are feeling the word, “Gentle”. The felt sense may be subtle, but you will be drawn to a specific area in your body where the energy of the word “Gentle” resonates.

Breathe gently and repeat the word, “Gentle” again. Notice how the felt sense increases.

Repeat a third time and again tune into your body. Where are you sensing the energy of the word, “Gentle”? Allow your awareness to encompass your entire body. Does your body feel calmer, more relaxed? Is there a sense of “gentleness” in mind and body?

If you’re not sure whether you sense where the energy is resonating, repeat the process again.

After you’re comfortable with this word energy process, it’s time for you to choose a word and feel the energy of that chosen word. To select your own word, sit comfortably and ask yourself, “How do I choose to feel at this moment?” “What energy form am I most in need of?” For our purposes, words are energy forms when you feel the words in your body.

Sit quietly and wait for your subconscious mind to serve up a selected word representing the energy form your subconscious mind has selected. While there could be thousands of options, at this early stage of word energy awareness, words such as, “calm”, “confident”, “relaxed”, “competent”, “courages”, or “peaceful” are common first selections. Allow your subconscious to serve up your word. Trust what comes up even if it sounds unusual.

Repeat the same process you used for the word, “Gentle”, only now you’ll be repeating your selected word. Prepare, breathe, place hand(s) to heart, and notice where you feel the energy of your chosen word just as you did with the word, “Gentle”.

I’ll let the music play for 30 seconds while you experience the energy of your chosen word.

Congratulations! You now are the proud owner of a new skill. Anytime you’re feeling stress, need more physical energy, need to feel more confident, or need any other energy resource, you need only ask the question, “How do I choose to feel right now, in this moment?”.
