  • You asked for it and here it is! No Cap Room co-host Jake Fischer finally joins Dan Devine on a very special episode of Devine Intervention.

(05:00) - NBA City Edition jerseys

(07:20) - Playing “Does this matter?” with offseason NBA news

    (15:45) - Alternative over/unders for 2024-25 NBA season

    (39:00) - The Closing Five

    (57:30) - Recommendations & goodbye

On a very special episode of Devine Intervention, Yahoo Sports senior NBA writer Dan Devine is joined by Yahoo Sports senior NBA reporter (and co-host of No Cap Room) Jake Fischer. It’s the payoff to what he, and what many of the listeners, have been asking for!

The guys start by going through three NBA news stories and asking “Does this matter?” Does it matter that the Cavs extended Isaac Okoro? Does it matter that the Kings are bringing in veteran wings for a workout? Does it matter that the Knicks signed Marcus Morris Sr. and Landry Shamet to non-guaranteed contracts?

After that, the guys play the same game they played last year on No Cap Room, where they come up with alternative over/unders and then place their bets. How much will Cam Thomas score this season? How many games will Lonzo Ball play? Where will the Orlando Magic finish in the standings? We’re taking sides on everything!

Finally, we close out the show with The Closing Five, where we learn about what Jake does away from basketball and how he introduces himself at music festivals, before closing the show with some recommendations.

On this episode of the Good Word with Goodwill, Yahoo Sports senior NBA reporter Vincent Goodwill is joined by The Athletic’s David Aldridge and the guys kick off the show by talking about Jamal Murray’s 4-year max contract extension with the Denver Nuggets, before wondering if the new CBA rules have hurt the Nuggets more than other teams.

Then, they guys each give their top 5 players with the most to gain (or lose) in the upcoming NBA season. Find out what is on the line for Jalen Green, Rudy Gobert, Karl Anthony-Towns, Ja Morant, Trae Young, Damian Lillard, Zion Williamson, Julius Randle, Paul George & Jimmy Butler.

  • Dan Devine is joined by James Herbert from CBS Sports to talk about the 6 teams that they are most curious about heading into the 2024-25 NBA season.

    (02:45) - Houston Rockets

    (14:35) - Indiana Pacers

    (24:35) - Memphis Grizzlies

    (35:10) - Cleveland Cavaliers

    (47:55) - San Antonio Spurs

    (49:50) - Miami Heat

On this episode of No Cap Room, Yahoo Sports senior NBA writer Dan Devine is joined by James Herbert from CBS Sports to talk about the 6 teams that they are most curious about heading into the 2024-25 NBA season.

The guys start by discussing the Houston Rockets, who are overloaded with young talent but looking to get into the playoffs quick. Do they need to make a consolidation trade? Dan is intrigued by the Indiana Pacers, who aren’t talked about like other contenders in the Eastern Conference despite having played in the Eastern Conference Finals last season.

James then picks the Memphis Grizzlies, continuing his theme of Western Conference teams that missed the playoffs last season, and both guys wonder what the actual ceiling is for the Grizzlies with all of their players back and healthy. Dan picks the Cavaliers, who brought back everyone and made a change at head coach to try and get over the hump this season.

James’ final pick is Victor Wembanyama’s San Antonio Spurs, who he thinks will be transformed by the additions of Chris Paul and Harrison Barnes. Dan’s last pick is the Miami Heat, who followed up a disappointing season and playoff showing by doing….not a lot in the offseason, unless you count them refusing to offer Jimmy Butler a contract extension.

  • Vincent Goodwill and Isis “Ice” Young talk about Anthony Edwards riling up NBA legends with his comments, favorites for the WNBA year-end awards and an offseason rumor about the Lakers and Luka Doncic.

(01:00) - Anthony Edwards angers NBA legends

    (23:00) - Can the Aces three-peat?

(33:00) - Historic rookie campaigns for Angel Reese & Caitlin Clark

    (39:55) - WNBA Year-End Awards

(50:00) - Lakers interested in Luka Doncic?

On this episode of Good Word with Goodwill, Yahoo Sports senior NBA reporter Vincent Goodwill is joined by Yahoo Sports basketball analyst Isis “Ice” Young for a bounce around the quiet NBA and the rollicking WNBA.

The show starts with the comments that Anthony Edwards made about previous generations of NBA players and how they all lacked skill outside of Michael Jordan. Vince tries to give Edwards some grace (Ice does not) but explains how different basketball has become over the last 30 years.

Ice announces that she has a vote for WNBA year-end awards, so we go through each of them and who she would vote for if the season ended today, but not before wondering what is wrong with the Las Vegas Aces lately and if they can still make it a three-peat.

Finally, a wild rumor about the Los Angeles Lakers targeting Luka Doncic to be their superstar once LeBron James retires leads Vinnie and Ice to talk about how they personally want LeBron’s career to end in L.A.

  • Jake Fischer and Dan Devine talk their way through the late August NBA news cycle and list off their favorite under-the-radar moves from this NBA offseason.

(05:50) - Steve Kerr not returning as Team USA basketball coach

(08:40) - Zion’s weight loss makes waves on social media

(13:10) - Kevin Durant returns to University of Texas against the Spurs

(18:40) - Joe Harris retires from basketball

    (27:05) - Who’s this guy: Guerschon Yabusele

(41:15) - Our favorite under-the-radar NBA offseason moves

On this episode of No Cap Room, Yahoo Sports senior NBA reporter Jake Fischer and Yahoo Sports senior NBA writer Dan Devine talk about all things NBA….and maybe a little bit about Charlie XCX and Love Island.

The guys kick off the show with the news that Steve Kerr is not expected to return as the head coach of Team USA men’s basketball after leading the team to a gold medal in France. All that’s left is deciding if Spoelstra or Tyronn Lue are going to take over.

Zion Williamson looks slimmed down in pictures on social media, which serves as a good reminder of just how great he played in the 2nd half of last season.

Kevin Durant, arguably the greatest player in the history of the University of Texas, will be returning to Austin to play against the San Antonio Spurs in February. Dan explains how good Durant was in his only year in college, while Jake explains why he preferred Greg Oden.

Joe Harris retired from basketball, leading to Jake telling stories about chatting with Joe in the Nets locker room and bumping into Joe around town in Brooklyn. Dan breaks down the numbers that argue that Joe was one of the best 3-point shooters in NBA history.

Guerschon Yabusele was one of the stars of the French team at the Olympics, and he’s been rewarded with a 1-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers. The Sixers could really use a player like Yabusele, which means he could end up closing games for them. Dan tries to come up with comps to explain “Yabu” to people that haven’t seen him play basketball before.

We end the show with our favorite under-the-radar moves of the offseason, bouncing all over the league to do so.

  • Jake Fischer and Dan Devine bid adieu to Team USA and the Paris Olympics, come up with ideas to improve the Emirates NBA Cup and look back at some of their preseason predictions.

(01:50) - Team USA wins gold over France

(05:20) - Steph Curry finally got his Olympic moment

(15:25) - Why didn’t Jayson Tatum play more in Paris?

(29:15) - Wembanyama is worried for his future opponents

(35:45) - Ways to improve the Emirates NBA Cup

(47:15) - Were we right about our preseason predictions?

On this episode of No Cap Room, Yahoo Sports senior NBA reporter Jake Fischer and Yahoo Sports senior NBA writer Dan Devine get to close the book on Team USA, who won gold in men’s basketball while being led by LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Steph Curry.

Speaking of Curry, he finally got the international basketball moment that had been missing from his career when he scored a combined 60 pts in the final two games of the tournament, including a downpour of three-pointers late to give USA the decisive win over France in the gold medal game.

Jayson Tatum, and many around him, is upset about his diminished role while playing for Team USA in Paris. Dan explains why Tatum had a hard time seeing the floor, while Jake explains why Tatum’s style of play is a bad fit for Steve Kerr’s offense. Will the 2028 team be built around Tatum once the older players retire?

Victor Wembanyama was not happy to have lost the gold medal game to USA, and he said afterwards that he’s learning more and is worried for future opponents…both in the NBA and internationally. Jake explains why he’s excited to see Wemby play with Chris Paul in San Antonio while trying to temper expectations for how high their ceiling is on offense.

The NBA In-Season Tournament has a new name, it’s now the Emirates NBA Cup, and they’ve already released their schedule for the upcoming season. Instead of digging into the matchups, Jake and Dan talk about what they liked from the event last season and ways that it could be improved going forward.

Finally, the guys go back to a podcast they did in October where they made preseason predictions using made-up over/unders, and they check to see who was right and who was wrong.

  • Vincent Goodwill is joined by James Edwards III from The Athletic to recap Team USA beating France to win their 5th straight gold medal for men’s basketball before talking about the future of the team.

(01:40) - USA beats France to win gold medal in men’s basketball

(16:45) - Is Durant the best player in Olympic history?

(22:20) - Is this Team USA better than the ‘Dream Team’?

(28:10) - Will Kerr stick around after facing criticism?

(38:00) - Who will be on Team USA in 2028?

On this episode of the Good Word with Goodwill, Yahoo Sports senior NBA reporter Vincent Goodwill is joined by James Edwards III to talk all things Team USA after LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Steph Curry secured gold with a win over France on Saturday.

The guys talk about everyone that contributed to the win, and reflected on the close game against Serbia that led to this appearance in the gold medal game, including Steph Curry finally finding his 3-point shot and closing out things for the Americans.

With the win, Kevin Durant became the first men’s basketball player in history to win four gold medals. The guys talk about why international basketball fits KD’s game and wonder if he’s the best basketball player in Olympic history.

With so many future Hall of Famers on the roster, it’s only natural to ask if this team is better than the ‘Dream Team’ from the 1992 Olympics or the ‘Redeem Team’ from the 2008 Olympics. The guys stack the rosters against each other to try and find a fair answer.

Vinnie and James agree that Steve Kerr was in a no-win position with this team, which is why he’s faced criticism about his rotations despite an undefeated record, and they wonder if he’ll still be the coach of Team USA during the Olympics in Los Angeles in 2028.

Speaking of, the guys wonder who the team will be built around if LeBron, Curry and Durant are no longer with the team in four years. Is it time for them to center everything around Anthony Edwards?

(15:25) - Serbia holds off Australia, advances to face USA

(30:15) - France beats Canada, advances to face Germany

(66:40) - Jalen Brunson named captain of the Knicks

(69:40) - Charles Barkley decides against retirement

On this episode of No Cap Room, Yahoo Sports senior NBA reporter Jake Fischer and Yahoo Sports senior NBA writer Dan Devine get together to talk about little NBA basketball and a lot of Olympic basketball.

The guys start off with a recap of USA’s dominant win over Brazil in the quarterfinal round, which has Jake believing that the Lakers could actually be one piece away from championship contention.

They then move on to the other games, including Serbia’s comeback win over Australia and France sending the Canadian team home after benching Rudy Gobert. How will Serbia’s twin-tower rotations work against Team USA? And will Rudy be back to play against a very dangerous German team?

The guys then get into Five Out, where they break down Lauri Markkanen’s contract extension that will keep him in Utah for the foreseeable future, talk about Jonathan Kuminga and Jalen Johnson asking their respective teams for max contract extensions, add historical context to Jalen Brunson being named Knicks captain and wonder what Charles Barkley will do at TNT after the NBA is gone.

On this episode of the Good Word with Goodwill podcast, Ros Gold-Onwude joins Vincent Goodwill to focus on the WNBA and the women of Team USA basketball.

The conversation starts, though, with a look at the legacies of Kevin Durant and LeBron James, both of which will include whatever happens in the final rounds of the 2024 Olympics in Paris. Vince and Ros also discuss the pure joy of Anthony Edwards, who has cemented himself as one of the best basketball players in the world.

Getting into the W, Ros explains the only thing that could keep the New York Liberty from winning the championship before talking about the excellent rookie seasons of Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese, but not before surprising us with who she thinks is the 2nd best women’s basketball player in the world (behind A’ja Wilson, who is currently dominating for Team USA).

After reflecting on what it is like to represent your country in the Olympic Games, Ros tries to predict which players might be added to the Team USA women’s basketball roster for the 20208 games in Los Angeles.

On this episode of No Cap Room, Yahoo Sports senior NBA reporter Jake Fischer and Yahoo Sports senior NBA writer Dan Devine talk about everything that’s going on in the basketball world during the NBA offseason.

The guys start with a recap of how Team USA beat South Sudan, with Dan pointing out that the real strength of the USA men’s basketball team is the incredible depth they can lean on when both teams go to their bench. The guys discuss why Joel Embiid didn’t play against South Sudan and explain why he’ll be back in the starting lineup against Puerto Rico on Saturday.

Jake talked with Micah Potter, who was with Team USA in recent weeks to help the team prepare to play against the stretch-big type of player that they don’t have on the roster but will see a lot of at the Olympics in France. Along the way, he built relationships with Joel Embiid, LeBron James and Steph Curry and told some great stories that Jake relays.

After the break, the guys get into Five Out and touch on five NBA news stories, including a handful of free agent contracts being signed and the retirement of Gordon Hayward, who looked like a future Hall of Fame player before suffering a catastrophic leg injury in his first game with the Boston Celtics.

    (29:10) - 2024 Olympics men’s basketball preview

On this episode of No Cap Room, Yahoo Sports senior NBA reporter Jake Fischer is joined by J.E. Skeets from the No Dunks podcast, who is filling in while Dan Devine is on vacation.

  • Vincent Goodwill and Jason Goff wonder if LeBron is still the best American basketball player, look at the Eastern Conference after free agency and wonder what comes next for the Chicago Bulls.

(04:25) - LeBron carrying Team USA

(12:45) - Westbrook to the Nuggets?

    (20:25) - Celtics

    (25:00) - 76ers

    (31:20) - Bucks

    (40:45) - Heat

    (46:20) - Bulls

On this episode of the Good Word with Goodwill, Yahoo Sports senior NBA reporter Vincent Goodwill is joined by Jason Goff from The Ringer to focus on the Eastern Conference.

But first, the guys dig into Team USA, who seem like they’re being carried by 39-year old LeBron James at the moment. Vinnie wonders if LeBron is still the best American basketball player, while Jason wonders if LeBron putting in all of this effort in the Olympics will lead to him taking time off from the Lakers regular season.

Russell Westbrook is no longer with the Clippers after being traded to the Jazz, but it looks like he’ll soon be joining the Denver Nuggets. They talk about the fit and what type of player Westbrook is at this point of his career.

As a way to reset the conversation, the guys try to answer questions about some of the most important teams in the Eastern Conference. Will the Celtics repeat? Will Tatum and Brown eventually grow to hate each other? When was the last time Joel Embiid looked like he was having fun? Did we write off the Bucks too soon? Do the Heat need to rebuild, and is Pat Riley the right man to lead them through it?

Finally, Vinnie and Jason get into the Chicago Bulls. They talk about where the Bulls and Zach LaVine are right now, if a trade needs to happen before the season starts, and if Lonzo Ball will ever make it back to an NBA court following his knee injury.

While Jake points out that Adam Silver seemed less optimistic about NBA expansion in his recent press conference, the guys decide to play a game where each one of them pick a city to get an expansion team and give them a name, plus a minority owner that would help draw in local fans.

After the break, Jake tells us everything he heard and saw while he was in Las Vegas for Summer League, including enough frustration around the new CBA that people are starting to wonder if the players and owners will attempt to renegotiate that part of the deal.

We finish the podcast by checking on the four guys in Summer League that Jake and Dan said they would be keeping their eyes on, two of them having not really played at all and the other two being somewhat disappointing so far.

    (01:20) - Team USA men’s basketball

(11:30) - Jaylen Brown vs. Team USA

(16:30) - Bronny James struggles at Summer League

(22:45) - Reed Sheppard ROY favorite?

(27:30) - Jalen Brunson signs extension with Knicks

    (33:04) - WNBA midseason awards

On this episode of the Good Word with Goodwill, Yahoo Sports senior NBA reporter Vincent Goodwill is joined by Isis “Ice” Young and the show kicks off with a look at Team USA, who defeated Australia in men’s basketball on Monday. We’re learning a lot from these exhibitions, and now we’re left to wonder if Anthony Edwards is actually their #1 offensive option and if Joel Embiid might be better coming off the bench.

Summer League in Las Vegas is underway, and Bronny James is off to a slow start. Vinnie and Ice talk about Bronny’s place in the NBA and highlight Reed Sheppard, who might be the new Rookie of the Year betting favorite.

Jalen Brunson took a discount, of sorts, to sign an extension early with the New York Knicks. Vinnie explains how it might not actually be a discount, and wonders how healthy Brunson will be when he hits free agency again.

Finally, Ice delivers some midseason WNBA awards, including Rookie of the Year, Coach of the Year, MVP, Best Team, Most Fun Team and others. Ice and Vince also wonder if A’ja Wilson is the GOAT of the WNBA or if our memories are failing us.

  • Jake Fischer and Dan Devine discuss Team USA losing Kawhi Leonard and adding Derrick White, vibe check another bad offseason for the Miami Heat and preview the 2024 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.

(06:20) - Team USA beat Team Canada

(13:15) - Team USA loses Kawhi Leonard, adds Derrick White

(20:45) - Cooper Flagg impresses vs. Team USA

(29:45) - Wizards sign Saddiq Bey

(34:50) - Incoming extensions for Brunson and Markkanen?

(45:45) - Vibe Check: Miami Heat

(55:50) - Las Vegas Summer League preview

On this episode of No Cap Room, Yahoo Sports senior NBA reporter Jake Fischer and Yahoo Sports senior NBA writer Dan Devine talk about The Matrix, Barack Obama’s nickname when he’s talking to NBA players, the positive effects of muscle relaxers and a whole bunch of basketball.

The guys start with FIVE OUT, where they hit on five stories from the basketball world, starting with Team USA trouncing Team Canada in an exhibition matchup in Las Vegas last night. While the rest of the league might be catching up in terms of top tier basketball talent, USA still has a distinct advantage in depth, and their bench unit showed it against Canada.

That bench unit was without Kawhi Leonard, who is no longer with Team USA amid some concerning reporting around the health of his knee. Instead, he’s going to use the offseason to get ready for the next Clippers season and his spot is being taken by Derrick White, which caused some hurt feelings with his Celtics teammate Jaylen Brown.

Cooper Flagg, the 17 year old going to Duke who is likely going to be the #1 pick in next year’s draft, was very impressive playing on the select team against Team USA. It would be one thing to do that against regular NBA players, but to have that kind of performance against all of these future Hall of Famers is a great sign for Flagg’s future.

After some free agency talk (Saddiq Bey signing with the Wizards, possible extensions coming for Jalen Brunson and Lauri Markkanen), the guys turn their attention to the Miami Heat. The Heat just lost Caleb Martin to the rival 76ers and most of the team they took to the Finals two years ago is now gone. Is this the last go around with Jimmy Butler’s Heat?

Finally, as a way to preview the NBA Las Vegas Summer League, the guys each pick a rookie that they’ll be watching and a second-year player that they’re hoping makes the leap when the games kick off tomorrow.

  • Vincent Goodwill is joined by Monica McNutt to go through NBA news and talk about the WNBA’s Rookie of the Year race before interviewing Kevin Durant on his basketball mortality and Steph Curry on his future with the Warriors.

    (03:20) - Giannis & the Bucks

(08:25) - Kings sign DeMar DeRozan

(12:15) - Watch out for Team France

(16:00) - How good will the Spurs be?

(20:15) - WNBA: Angel Reese or Caitlin Clark for ROTY?

    (38:10) - Kevin Durant interview

    (48:30) - Steph Curry interview

On this episode of the Good Word with Goodwill, Yahoo Sports senior NBA reporter Vincent Goodwill tackles the news of the day and talks a little WNBA before interviewing Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry.

Monica McNutt from ESPN and MSG joins Vinnie to talk about Giannis Antetokounmpo sending Team Greece to the Paris Olympics and whether the Milwaukee Bucks (and Miami Heat) should be worrying about their lack of offseason moves.

The Sacramento Kings added DeMar DeRozan in a sign-and-trade that left everyone wondering how the Kings offense will operate with three star players that like to play in similar ways, but Monica has an idea that might just work.

Vince and Monica try to talk about the Spurs, who added Harrison Barnes from the Kings in the DeRozan sign-and-trade, and end up talking for a bit about the terrifying future of Team France and comps for Jeremy Sochan’s hair.

Monica made some waves recently by saying that she would vote for Angel Reese over Caitlin Clark for this year’s WNBA Rookie of the Year Award, so we talked about it and found that there is a path for Clark to win the award…she has to get the Indiana Fever to the WNBA Playoffs.

Finally, Vince is in Las Vegas with Team USA and got time to sit down and chat with Kevin Durant and Steph Curry on Sunday. Durant discussed the rumors about him wanting out of Phoenix, how long he’ll keep playing and a lot more. Curry talked about his first time on Team USA, life without Klay Thompson in Golden State and if he’ll stay with the Warriors even if they’re not winning.

  • In an extra-long episode of No Cap Room, Jake and Dan discuss LeBron returning to the Lakers, Klay Thompson signing with the Mavericks, the Lauri Markkanen trade rumors and more.

(03:05) - LeBron James signs 2-year deal to stay with Lakers

(15:40) - Klay Thompson joins Mavericks

    (65:00) - Who’s This Guy? (Hartenstein & Avdija)

    (81:00) - VIBE CHECK: The 2nd Apron

On this extra long episode of No Cap Room, Yahoo Sports senior NBA reporter Jake Fischer and Yahoo Sports senior NBA writer Dan Devine recap the last few days of free agency, including LeBron James’ ill-fated plans to take a paycut in hopes of the Lakers adding another star to the roster.

Klay Thompson, who was the most likely candidate to fill that spot for the Lakers, instead joins the Dallas Mavericks. Dan and Jake explain why getting away from the spotlight in Golden State (and L.A.) might be exactly what Klay needs at this point in his career.

Donovan Mitchell signed an extension to stay in Cleveland and, eventually, make himself a ton more money. Jayson Tatum signed the richest contract in NBA history right before the Boston Celtics majority owner went public with plans to sell the team, which seems to be a trend around the league.

Jake opens up The People’s Notebook to share all of the rumors that he’s been hearing about Lauri Markkanen’s trade market, Brandon Ingram’s contract negotiations with the Pelicans, DeMar DeRozan’s remaining options in free agency and a bunch more.

The guys play a round of Who’s This Guy?, where they describe a player using only comps to other NBA players. This time, it’s Dan explaining Isaiah Hartenstein to the Oklahoma City Thunder fans with a comparison to Victor Wembanyama and Jake explaining Deni Avdija to Portland Trail Blazers fans that may have not watched the Wizards before.

Finally, the second apron has been the talk of NBA free agency, so we do a quick vibe check on it to see if it’s bad for the players, the owners or the fans. How did it affect Paul George’s negotiations with the Clippers and how will it affect the NBA going forward?

  • Vincent Goodwill and Sam Amick from The Athletic catch up on NBA free agency after the first day of movement, including Paul George leaving the Clippers to sign with the 76ers.

    (01:40) - Paul George signs with 76ers

(12:10) - Clippers sign James Harden & Derrick Jones Jr.

(21:50) - Chris Paul signs with Spurs

    (29:30) - Kentavious Caldwell-Pope signs with Magic

(34:00) - Isaiah Hartenstein signs with Thunder

(38:25) - Pistons hire J.B. Bickerstaff, sign Tobias Harris

(48:50) - Where will Brandon Ingram be traded?

(52:20) - What to expect from Jimmy Butler?

On this episode of the Good Word with Goodwill, Yahoo Sports senior NBA reporter Vincent Goodwill is joined by Sam Amick from The Athletic to rundown all of the news coming out of the first night of NBA free agency.

The guys start things off with the biggest news, that Paul George is leaving the Los Angeles Clippers for the Philadelphia 76ers. The guys talk about the fit for George in Philly, and explain how losing one of their biggest contracts could end up being a silver lining for the Clippers as they open their new arena.

Speaking of the Clippers, they re-signed James Harden for less than the max and also signed Derrick Jones Jr. as an athletic replacement for Paul George in the starting lineup. The guys talk about where the Clippers go from here and how concerned they are about Kawhi Leonard playing for Team USA this summer.

Chris Paul, fresh off being waived by the Golden State Warriors, signed a one-year deal to join Victor Wembanyama in San Antonio. Sam likens this year with the Spurs to CP3’s previous one-year stop with the Oklahoma City Thunder and explains how Paul could help bridge the age gap between Wemby and Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich.

The guys talk about Kentavious Caldwell-Pope signing with the Orlando Magic, but mostly they talk about the Denver Nuggets losing talent since winning the title last year and the restraints of the new CBA.

Isaiah Hartenstein was the best free agent center on the market, and he’s a perfect fit for the Oklahoma City Thunder, who signed him early this morning. Sam Presti continues to put together an incredible roster that should be ready to compete for a title right now.

As Vince works us into “The Outlet”, where we talk about non-free agency news, the guys spend some time talking about the Detroit Pistons. The Pistons hired the recently-fired J.B. Bickerstaff as their new head coach, are working on a max extension for Cade Cunningham and signed free agent veteran forward Tobias Harris. They have a long way to go, but that’s an excellent start for a new rebuild in Detroit.

While talking about Jonas Valančiūnas signing with the Washington Wizards, the guys end up discussing Brandon Ingram on the Pelicans and where he might end up in a trade.

Finally, Sam wants to know from Vinnie what he thinks we should expect from Jimmy Butler going forward. What kind of year will he have? Is there still a chance for an extension in Miami?

  • Dan Devine and The Ringer’s Michael Pina talk about what they liked, and what they didn’t, coming out of the 2024 NBA Draft and recap some of the recent trades that have happened.

(01:30) - NBA Draft cheers (Timberwolves, Spurs)

(13:20) - NBA Draft jeers (Nuggets, Bronny James)

(36:24) - How good are the Knicks after trading for Mikal Bridges?

(48:30) - Who won the POR/WSH Deni Avdija trade?

(53:00) - Mavericks trade Tim Hardaway Jr. to DET for Quentin Grimes

(55:55) - Is Paul George underrated or overrated?

(63:30) - Are the Chicago Bulls finally tanking?

(66:40) - Where will Brandon Ingram end up?

On this episode of No Cap Room, Dan Devine and The Ringer’s Michael Pina get together to talk hoops while Jake Fischer takes a day to recover from the 2024 NBA Draft.

The guys start with what they liked (Minnesota being aggressive, San Antonio being patient) from the 2024 NBA Draft, as well as what they didn’t like (Denver trading away Reggie Jackson, all of the attention on Bronny James).

While revisiting the trade that sent Mikal Bridges from the Brooklyn Nets to the New York Knicks, Dan and Michael go through the Knicks roster and wonder how that team will stack up in the Eastern Conference next season.

The guys hit a couple of more trades quickly, talking about Deni Avdija being sent from the Washington Wizards to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for Malcolm Brogdon and draft assets before discussing the breaking news of Tim Hardaway Jr. being traded (along with draft picks) from the Dallas Mavericks to the Detroit Pistons, bringing back for Knicks guard Quentin Grimes.

As a way to get into NBA free agency, which starts in about two days, the guys talk about all of the different options in front of Paul George and debate whether or not he is underrated or overrated. The guys also talk about the Chicago Bulls, whether they’ll bring back DeMar DeRozan, and if they have finally started tanking.

We end the show with a conversation about Brandon Ingram, who is likely to be traded this offseason. Michael believes that he is a superstar hiding in plain sight and can’t wait to see him land in a better situation for his skill set.
