In this episode I talk a little about what kind of materials are most useful for language learners and a great resource for Yiddish learners - Der Yiddisher Tam-Tam. It’s a little magazine that was published for many years and is full of articles written just for Yiddish learners.
I read an excerpt from an article published in the 100th issue of Der Yiddisher Tam-tam. There’s a little bit of tricky vocab, and unlike Tam-Tam we don’t have footnotes, so be sure to check the transcript for vocab notes.

This is a special episode - I had some requests for longer episodes for advanced students so this episode is the full interview that I conducted with Chana Pollack, archivist at The Forward (דער פֿאָרװערץ).
The language in this episode is a lot more complicated than our usual format, and of course it’s a lot longer. So if you’re not ready for this much Yiddish don’t worry, we’ll be back next week with a regular episode.

In this episode I play a few excerpts from an interview I conducted with Chana Pollack, archivist at The Forward newspaper (established as a Yiddish daily in 1897!). I’ll release the full interview soon as a bonus episode for those who want to try listening to something a bit more advanced. I asked Chana about her work and her article about LGBTQ stories and silences in the archive..
