    Letting your inhale bring you home.

    And then ask your exhale,

    To release what wants to roam.

    And slow yourself down.

    Become aware of the intricacies of your breath. 

    PAUSE…

    Feel the cool air on your nose as you breathe in,

    And the warm air on your nose as you breathe out. 

    PAUSE…

    Notice your belly rise with every inhale,

    And fall with every exhale. 

    PAUSE…

    See if you can expand your breath.

    Inhaling a little deeper each time you breathe in,

    And exhaling a little longer each time you breathe out.

    Slow it all down,

    Sinking deeper and deeper,

    Releasing more and more,

    Feeling lighter and lighter,

    As you come into the quiet.

    There’s magic that exists in your breath.

    Profound wisdom in the air that flows in,

    And out.

    It heals.

    When the day is done,

    And your head is full,

    There’s so much pressure inside. 

    Bring yourself here,

    To the comfort of your bed,

    Breathe in far and wide.

    The pressure you feel,

    Is all of the tasks, 

    The plans and so much to sort. 

    Your brain spins in mud,

    Trying to do more,

    How long have you been starving,
    For something you cannot name?
    How long have you been wishing
    That someone would notice your pain?

    PAUSE…

    We need to eat; it’s a fact of life.
    We need to nourish ourselves.
    But nourishment comes in many forms,
    What you need may not come from the shelves.

    PAUSE…

    What exactly do you hunger for?
    What would fill you up?
    What have you been missing out on?
    And how long have you gone without?

    PAUSE…

    The first step toward satisfaction
    Is to name the thing you seek.
    To see it and feel it and call it out,
    The Universe will see your technique.

    PAUSE…

    Think about why you’re in the back,
    About why you don’t speak up.
    What makes you feel less important,
    Than those you take care of?

    PAUSE…

    They need you to be healthy.
    They need you to be strong.
    They want to know that you’re okay,
    That you’re not just playing along.

    PAUSE…

    So what will you tell them when they ask,
    When they see that your shine has faded?
    How will you tell them to care for you?
    What yearning begs for urgent attention?

    PAUSE…

    How will it feel to get what you need?
    What will it change deep within?
    Will guilt rise up to steal your joy,
    And will you send it packing?

    LONG PAUSE…
    Inhale and fortify yourself with thoughts of your power and value.
    Exhale and liberate yourself from the thoughts that undermine you.

    PAUSE…

    Where does this hunger come from?
    What can it tell you if you listen?
    Is there something helpful and positive
    Hiding in its shadows?

    PAUSE…

    What’s the secret message,
    The thread that runs throughout?
    What can this empty space tell you,
    About the cost of going without?

    PAUSE…

    We all know your heart’s in the right place,
    That you want what’s best for all.
    But deprivation just can’t get you there.
    It just doesn’t have the power.

    PAUSE…

    Instead you need indulgence,
    At least every now and then.
    You need to see yourself as worth the effort,
    And make time to see it through.

    PAUSE…

    Feel the new energy in your body,
    The burst that happens when you feed your soul.
    Sink into the safety of fullness,
    And let yourself rest there.

    PAUSE…

    Imagine how beautiful you look now,
    Shining with the glow of abundance.
    Enjoy the warmth coursing through you,
    Flavored with love and gratitude.

    So many things feel possible now,
    So many ideas come forth.
    It’s hard to know how stunted we are,
    When we’re just holding on for dear life.

    But that isn’t you anymore.
    You’ve asked for what you need.
    And because those you love truly love you back,
    What you asked for came to be.

    Inhale and know you’re part of something bigger than yourself.
    Exhale with thanks for those who care, those who catch you when you can’t.

    Think of this as a wakeup call,
    A reason to make a change.
    Feeding ourselves is a necessity,
    Whether food or love or peace.

    PAUSE…

    Though change can’t happen overnight,
    You can do it need by need.
    Check in with yourself regularly,
    And pay attention to what you crave.

    PAUSE…

    You’re not taking anything from others,
    When you choose to feed yourself.
    Instead you’re multiplying what you give,
    By starting from a place of health.

    PAUSE…

    If anyone in your life disputes this,
    Give that bond some thought.
    Love is not meant to starve our hearts,
    But instead to make them swell.

    Pull in a deep and cleansing breath, hear your heart’s new song.

    The view that never changes?

    Close your eyes and try to see,

    What could happen if you rearranged it.


    PAUSE…

    It’s so incredibly easy,

    To walk the same footsteps day to day.

    To follow the path we’ve followed before,

    Because things are simpler that way.


    PAUSE…

    But is simple what you really want?

    Does ease set your soul on fire?

    Or might you wish for something more,

    If given the chance to aim much higher?

    Is there an idea tucked down deep in your soul,

    A picture of what could happen.

    If you let yourself step way out of your box,

    And lived what you imagine?

    Where did that idea come from?

    Where you young and hopeful and brave?

    Did it spring to life before you knew

    How to just give in and behave?

    Take a breath and see yourself, so innocent and sweet.

    Release the breath and remind yourself the quest is incomplete.

    You wanted something way back when,

    And it seemed so right for you.

    Why should that desire have to disappear,

    Because the world demands its due?

    There must be a way to be who you must,

    While also living as you please.

    There must be a way to listen to your heart,

    While also serving life’s needs.

    If you’re looking to shift your perspective,

    To see things in a completely new way,

    The change can start with a single step,

    And the change can start today.

    Think about your usual window,

    The one you look out the most.

    What sort of view would you rather have?

    Should it be mountain, desert, or coast?

    Inhale as you picture a magical scene, one that makes you glow inside.

    Exhale and promise to take yourself there, to be your own tour guide.


    PAUSE…

    Or maybe the change isn’t a place.

    Maybe it’s a calling instead.

    Perhaps you need to find your purpose,

    A goal to serve both heart and head.


    PAUSE…

    When our lives don’t line up with our dreams,

    When we feel forced to choose,

    The choice can break us right in half,

    And leave us feeling abused.

    Instead we need to find the point,

    Where all our needs align.

    We need to find the authentic path,

    A life of our own design.


    PAUSE…

    So dig into your yearnings,

    Find the wisdom of your spirit.

    Learn what the universe has been planning for you,

    Let yourself finally hear it.

    Breathe in and imagine that very first step, the one that starts the journey.

    Breathe out as you watch yourself take it, knowing you are worthy.

    That structures crumble without solid footing.

    But how much do we think about,

    The strong foundation we need inside?


    PAUSE…

    Close your eyes and check in with yourself,

    Try to see how you’re holding up.

    Are there cracks in your underpinnings?

    Do you feel tremors now and then?


    PAUSE…

    We don’t all start out on solid ground,

    Some get more support than others.

    And then when we’re tasked with building our lives,

    We forget to ask if we’re ready.


    PAUSE…

    We assume we have all that we need,

    And the world around us expects it.

    But we never know just how much that is,

    Until we’ve already started building.


    PAUSE…
     
    By then, it’s easy to decide,

    That everything will probably be fine.

    We might travel years down the road,

    Before worries creep into our minds.


    LONG PAUSE…

    Inhale deep, down to your core, and let your essence surround you.

    Exhale and feel the answers come, rising as you need them.


    PAUSE…

    Once uncertainties fill our minds, 

    The cracks are already there.

    But cracks don’t mean the house will fall.

    Instead they’re reminders to take a peek below.


    PAUSE…

    Just like maintenance for your house,

    Your soul needs tune-ups too.

    We need to know of creaks and shifts,

    Of changes at our center.

    Sometimes the act of checking in, 

    Is all the process requires.

    Other times, there’s work to be done,

    Tasks that cannot be ignored.

    Some fixes may call for brand new tools,

    While others are familiar.

    Your soul will tell you what it needs,

    If you just ask the question.

    Inhale and sink deeper into knowing, see just what you need.

    Exhale as insight finds you, believe in the growth it promises.


    PAUSE…

    Fear often comes when we do this work,

    But know that it’s an illusion.

    There’s nothing to fear from your deepest self,

    And it will never leave you forsaken.


    PAUSE…

    Evolution must be a collaboration,

    A continuous project of growth.

    If you tend the framework regularly,

    Your spirit will do the hard work.


    PAUSE…

    But if you let it fall into disrepair,

    If you look away when it calls you,

    You cannot move toward serenity,

    And your to-be-fixed list simply grows.


    PAUSE…

    Instead, why not stay on top of the job?

    Why not give it consistent attention?

    That effort will yield an unshakeable foundation,

    And a beautiful home for your soul.

    Breathe in and picture the dwelling you’ve built, the perfect space to thrive.

    Breathe out with certainty as you tell yourself that dwelling will soon be yours.

    When’s the last time you sat in silence,

    Really felt it in your soul?

    How long has been since you sat with yourself,

    With no one else around?


    PAUSE…

    Take a deep breath and close your eyes,

    As we seek that quiet once again.

    It’s time to see what’s changed within,

    Since the last time you checked in.


    PAUSE…

    There’s so much energy around us,

    From people and their devices and machines.

    And though we need these things a lot of the time,

    They’re not necessary as much as we think.


    PAUSE…

    Once we let these distractions into our lives,

    It gets harder and harder to say no.

    And once we stop making space for the quiet,

    We forget that we need it at all.


    PAUSE…
     
    It’s so easy to get caught up in the hum of it all,

    To go with society’s flow.

    But when we start to crave that hum over other things,

    It’s a sign we might need to let go.


    LONG PAUSE…

    Inhale and pull peace deep into your body, hear only the sound of your breath.

    Exhale and assess how much calmer you feel, as the peace flows from cell to cell.


    PAUSE…

    The answers we seek from those around us,

    Can be both helpful and not.

    But the answers we seek from our spirit

    Are always on the mark.


    PAUSE…

    There’s certainly value in connection.

    No one wants to figure out life all alone.

    There’s another sort of connection, though,

    And it’s older and wiser than most.


    PAUSE…

    This connection doesn’t need wi-fi.

    It runs without battery or plug.

    It only requires your commitment,

    And a willingness to both listen and hear.

    And unlike so many other platforms,

    That tend to steal away pieces of you.

    Your silent connection to spirit

    Returns what’s lost as it pays dividends.

    Take a deeper breath this time, sink deeper into the quiet.

    Send your distractions away as you exhale, leaving your mind clear and ready.

    Ideally, we’re looking for balance,

    A way to thrive inside and out.

    But until you know how much is too much,

    It’s too hard to make the call.

    So take a little away from the world,

    A peaceful respite now and then.

    Pay attention as the feelings and thoughts bubble up,

    And look for the messages they hold.

    If you struggle to find their meaning,

    Sit with your questions for a while.

    Use the clear, quiet space to sort it all out,

    And lean into what makes it okay.

    Trust what your inner voice tells you,

    Now that you’ve given her a chance.

    She knows what you need before you do,

    And her signal is constantly strong.

    If you close your eyes, can you see it?

    The thing that matters most?

    The thing that makes your life worthwhile,

    And encompasses all of your hopes?

    It’s different for each one of us,

    Whether a concrete or intangible thing.

    It’s the essence of what we hold sacred,

    The reason our hearts can sing.

    For some of us, it’s our children,

    Those precious, angelic gifts.

    For others, it’s our parents,

    The souls who allowed us to exist.

    The animals who brighten their lives.

    As you come into your bed,

    And wind down your day,

    Let your breath calm you,

    And soften you. 

    PAUSE…

    Rest deep into your body,

    Bringing your attention here.

    Far away from the thoughts,

    And the movement of your mind. 

    PAUSE…

    Sink a little further,

    And as you do, allow your body to stretch.

    Straighten your arms, 

    And your legs out wide,

    As far as they can reach.

    Hold them here for a moment, 

    Squeezing and gathering up every bit of pain,

    Stress,

    And detail inside. 

    PAUSE…

    And then exhale, 

    And release the stretch,

    Letting it all go, 

    And softening your body even further.

    LONG PAUSE…

    Now place your hand,

    On the side of your head,

    And slowly pull it down to one side,

    Stretching the side of your neck.

    PAUSE…

    Breathe into the stretch,

    Expanding the space inside,

    And inviting in relief.

    PAUSE…

    Now reverse the stretch,

    Gently pulling your head down from the other side, 

    Feeling the stretch on the other side of your neck.

    Breathe…

    And feel every fiber stretch out all that tension. 

    PAUSE…

    And then release the stretch,

    And feel the warmth of the relief,

    As you melt further into bed.

    LONG PAUSE…

    Feel into your body,

    And bring your attention to your neck. 

    Imagine all the points of pain,

    All those spots of tension,

    Are glowing soft red. 

    PAUSE…

    Breathe into those places,

    From the bottom of your skull,

    Down the sides of your neck,

    And into the contours of your upper shoulders.

    PAUSE…

    Imagine everything opening,

    And softening. 

    Opening,

    And softening,

    As you breathe in relief,

    And breathe out tension. 

    LONG PAUSE…

    Notice that the soft red glow,

    Becomes a little dimmer now,

    And your head feels a little lighter. 

    PAUSE…

    Now imagine your spine stretching,

    From the bottom of your back,

    All the way up to the top of your neck.

    Pulling,

    Extending, 

    Straightening.

    Opening up the space between every vertebrae.

    One by one,

    Making space,

    And releasing the pain. 

    LONG PAUSE…

    The glowing red dims again, 

    Almost completely.

    And your body feels spacious.

    Heavy and deeply relaxed,

    And also light and open.

    And allow yourself to settle. 

    Let yourself move and adjust a bit,

    Until you find your favorite sleeping position,

    And your body feels at home.

    Now take a big, deep breath in,

    Gathering up all the pieces of your day,

    And then hold it for just a moment.

    And then exhale, 

    And release. 

    PAUSE…

    Breathe in deep one more time,

    Gathering up all the worries, the plans, the details.

    Hold it at the top,

    And then release, 

    Breathing all of it out.

    PAUSE…

    Let your breathing settle into a soft,

    Gentle rhythm,

    As you bring yourself inside.

    Notice the slow rising,

    And falling,

    Of your belly and chest. 

    Notice the cool air on your nose as you breathe in,

    And the warm air on your nose as you breathe out. 

    Notice the soft sounds of the night,

    Humming lightly in the background.

    Now imagine a soft, indigo blue light,

    Hovering just above your head.

    See if you can feel its warmth,

    Melting onto you,

    And covering you with peace.

    Feel it gently cover and soften your forehead,

    Your eyes,

    Your cheeks,

    And your lips. 

    Let your jaw release,

    And drop your tongue from the roof of your mouth. 

    Feel your entire face soften and relax.

    Imagine the indigo light falling gently,

    Down your neck, 

    Covering your shoulders,

    And traveling down your right arm,

    And your left arm. 

    PAUSE…

    Imagine the indigo light,

    Pulling out the tension,

    Releasing the stress,

    And relaxing you deep,

    Into the night.

    The soft glow of the indigo light,

    Slowly moves down your body,

    Blanketing your stomach,

    And your hips.

    You feel it streaming down your back,

    From the top of your neck,

    And allow your body to sink into the night.

    The warm glow of the indigo light,

    Descends down the expanse of your right leg,

    Relaxing the thighs,

    Your ankles,

    And your feet.

    Allow any remaining thoughts,

    Worries,

    Or emotions,

    To float down,

    Out of you,

    Releasing themselves into the darkness,

    The gentle hand now hovers over your back.

    Watch as all the toxins detach from your lower back,

    Releasing their hold,

    Helpless against the magnetic pull of the detoxifying hand.

    Now feel the warmth on the crown of your head,

    As the soft hand rests here.

    Millions of toxic pieces swim in your mind,

    They are pulled into the palm of the loving hand.

    Let it all go…

    As you settle into your bed. 

    Let it all go…

    And clear your precious head. 

    PAUSE…

    So many worries tug at you,

    So many stresses pile up. 

    So many fears are rumbling,

    So many thoughts interrupt. 

    PAUSE…

    Soon your world feels small, 

    Your breathing falls shallow. 

    Your eyes begin to dart around,

    And your face looks really sallow. 

    PAUSE…

    So let this be your moment now, 

    To escape the prison of pain.

    Allow yourself to just let go,

    Anxiety will not reign.

    Invite yourself to see the thoughts,

    That spin around and crawl.

    Take a breath here and you’ll see,

    You are separate from them all. 

    PAUSE…

    Breathe in deep to create more space,

    ‘Tween you and your thinking mind.

    See if you can open real wide, 

    The space that’s been confined. 

    PAUSE…

    Breathe in deep, 

    Breathe out slow,

    Come into your body now. 

    Breathe in deep,

    Breathe out slow,

    Let go and just allow. 

    LONG PAUSE…

    If you come into this moment now,

    You’ll see with clarity. 

    That most of the worries that haunt you,

    Don’t exist actually. 

    PAUSE…

    They’re born of what if’s and how’s,

    And holding on too tight,

    To the future that you think you know,

    You feel you must get right. 

    PAUSE…

    Follow your breath into your soul,

    And bring yourself right here.

    Breathe deep into this moment, 

    Let the anxiety disappear. 

    PAUSE…

    Let it all go…

    And release all that’s here.

    It’ll all be okay, my dear.

    Relax and let go. 

    Soften and release. 

    Surrender to flow,

    And feel the loving peace.
