  • This final episode of season one beautifully sums up one of the main points of creating the podcast: That the world needs more sensitivity - and that we are the ones who can provide this and help create a friendlier future.

That of course requires us to step up, embrace our sensitivity and its superpowers - and dare to be who we are. Loud, proud, and visible. And that is what today's conversation with MarLisa Hollands is all about.

MarLisa Hollands is a Life Designer activating your inner wise woman.

She is trained in Strategic Intervention by Tony Robbins & Cloe Madanes, she has a wealth of knowledge and life experience in parenting, masculine & feminine energy, blended families, healing attachment styles, receiving love, starting a business, healing your money relationship, accepting deep connection, and befriending yourself.

MarLisa is a mother, step-mom, partner, adores dogs, fitness educator, wine sommelier, nature lover, and practices reiki and yoga.

She believes, that generous souls will change the world and by supporting them, she supports the thousands of people they touch in their life.

  • This episode holds so much warmth and beauty - while talking about some very vulnerable areas. Today's guest is a Solution Oriented Hypnotherapist who also works in palliative care, and we talk about how her sensitive superpowers are such a wonderful gift to help people feel seen and held at what can easily be a very scary time.

Louise is a 40-something living in the North of England with her small family and growing menagerie of rescue pets. She grew up worrying about environmental issues and would frequently get upset at certain tv shows or at the end of holidays but never identified as highly sensitive until a couple of years ago when everything began to make sense.

She works as a Macmillan palliative care Occupational Therapist part-time where her empathetic skills are put to use and she finds great purpose in helping others. Having previously struggled with her mental health, she had a course of hypnotherapy after other treatments were unsuccessful. Having hypnotherapy was so life-changing that she went on to train as a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist and now runs Nurture Hypnotherapy and sees clients both online and in-person.

Louise works with a Solution Focused Approach which means that there is no need to unpick the past. Instead, the focus is firmly on the future and the steps that can be taken to get there. She is currently holding a waitlist for her extra special 12-week package which guides HSPs to step into their superpowers which blends on-line hypnotherapy & coaching, as well as audio downloads and guided workbooks to create a transformative effect.

  • This episode is near and dear to me because we talk about a topic I have felt particularly sensitive and vulnerable about. We are talking about fashion and beauty and visually expressing and embodying who we truly are.

And I have never met anyone who has made me feel as comfortable around these areas as Yifan does. She has a very contagious passion for and belief in our right to be beautiful JUST THE WAY WE ARE. It is so liberating to hear her talk so lovingly about how she helps female entrepreneurs express their truths and their power - how to be their brand!

Yifan Nairn is a fashion designer, Self-image & Style Coach to personal brand owners. Through the lens of personal style, body and self image, she helps gifted, often sensitive entrepreneurs who want to be more visible to shred the false, indoctrinated self perception and to fully accept who they are. So they can see and step into the empowered version of themselves inside AND outside and make the impact and income they truly desire.

  • Everybody can get overwhelmed, and many people talk about burnout, but as today's guest says - when others feel overwhelmed, they take a break and feel better, but for a sensitive person, it can almost make us quit and go back to bed for 3 weeks.

In this episode, we talk about the importance of finding our core - that internal place where we reconnect to who we really are in a busy world that tends to pull our attention outwards.

Karen Hewitt has some very practical tools and tips on how to achieve this centered state, even in a busy life.

And this episode is actually the perfect demonstration! You can hear her kids playing in the background, and even with the interruptions and distractions, we manage to have a perfectly enjoyable, lighthearted, and meaningful conversation!

Karen is a certified Life and NLP coach as well as a successful, multifaceted entrepreneur. She shares her story and her gifts in an empathic and authentic way to help others. Discovering real-life gifts where introverts have the most power, Karen teaches her audience how powerful, creative and successful you can be as an introvert, a woman, and a busy mom juggling it all! Karen’s story takes her from almost losing her life to a man she thought was there to help her gain strength, leaving her with agoraphobia, PTSD, and anxiety where she became completely locked in her introverted world to becoming a true powerhouse in helping others stand true in their own gifts and strengths. As an empathic and compassionate speaker, she connects with introverted individuals that know that there is something more to what they are doing, but don’t know how they can impact or express themselves because of feeling shy, introverted, or even unworthy.

  • Sensitive people, including those on the spectrum, are connected to the world in unique and intriguing ways. We may see, hear, and sense things others might miss. We interpret in a much more detailed manner.

Today's guest is Robert Gold who has gone from feeling isolated as a child for his sensitivity and special talents, to designing ways of better understanding our world. What was once experienced as a 'handicap' has become one of his most valued gifts. His passion is helping others appreciate who them are and what they have to offer, others.

Robert Gold is a practicing Ontologist with forty years of experience. As a sensitive, empathic, and gifted child, he was often misunderstood. Among his talents-- repairing home appliances before he could read. To cope with a dismissive and hostile home environment, he figured out how to alter his schedule so he could be awake when everyone else was asleep. In elementary school, he taught himself to overcome undetected learning differences and sensory issues, including ADD and dyslexia.

Fast forward, just four years ago, he discovered that he fit the neurodiverse profile, perfectly. The revelation has enhanced his work as a Communication Specialist and Trust Development Coach.

He specializes in supporting children, teens, and adults stuck in thought patterns known as circular thinking. Clearing them from the mind allows one, at any age, to express wants and needs, effectively and productively.

Robert also happens to be a visionary and an author. His latest work is a fascinating journey into the near future, where everyone is appreciated for who they are, no need for labels. Everyone has gifts designed to repair the world. This interactive series invites readers to explore everything, from thoughts and emotions to colors, scents and shapes and how they affect our lives. LIBERTY 2041 is a series co-authored by his wife, Carolyn Gold, a Sensory Strategist and Colour Connoisseur.

  • This episode is the 25th anniversary of the podcast, but it is also special because today's guest is the first HSP person I have interviewed who has always felt loved and appreciated for her sensitivity.

Mary Barringer only experienced small pockets of resistance to her sensitive nature when she was growing up, and this to me was such a revelation. And I hope this will become the way future generations of HSPs grow up - naturally understanding that, of course, it's a gift to be sensitive!

Aside from this very important nugget, we also talk about what it's like to be sensitive beings on the entrepreneurial journey - and we both agree that if you love personal growth and development - you don't find any better training grounds than starting your own business!! =)

Mary Barringer is a counselor for highly sensitive people (HSPs). Specifically, she helps sensitive souls learn how to get off the “struggle bus” (ie. stress/worry less), grow self-trust/confidence and create more space for joy/fun in their (our) lives.

Her work experience includes high school teaching/counseling, mental health counseling and parish ministry.

Mary’s passions include meditation/spirituality, connecting on a deep, soul-full level with other lovely humans & animals (especially kitty cats) and lifelong learning.

She lives in beautiful San Diego, California (United States).

  • Everyone deserves to live and work under nice conditions, but as sensitivities, we tend to be more affected by the subtleties in our surroundings.

Today's guest is a Sensory Interior Designer who possesses synaesthesia. This neurological gift allows her to experience multiple results from a single sensory input. For example, she won't listen to classical music while driving because the images of costumes, architecture or period furnishings, that come to mind can be quite distracting. When seeing colors, they may come with flavors, scents or some other sensation, and so on.

In Carolyn Gold's case, synaesthesia is not only pleasurable and manageable but it's become her Sensitive Superpower. Her specialty is making sure children and adults have balanced and healthy lives. The process includes careful listening and observing. The results invite relaxation and improved sleep. Greater focus during the day is always welcome when it comes to productive learning, working, eating, and even playing. Sensory savvy environments contain customized elements for each person's needs so they can feel nurtured, soothed, or stimulated, at the right time, in the right space.

  • As sensitives, we are typically all too familiar with the sense of being 'wrong', and how it feels to fail at living up to the expectations we think others have of us. From this experience, today's guest has developed the superpower of being really good at listening to people and validating them.

This is beautiful in all areas of life, but Aubrey Reinmiller has taken her magic power and used it in the field of physical fitness and well-being. I find that especially powerful since many of us have bad memories from gym classes in High Shcool which can make us reluctant to seek out a personal trainer.

In this episode, we talk about the stories we tell ourselves - about not being 'exercisers'. But also about being lazy and frivolous when we take time out to sit and enjoy our tea or set up a self-caring evening routine.

This episode is a wonderful reminder of how important it is to care for ourselves - AND our bodies if we want to enjoy our lives!

Aubrey Reinmiller is a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant, Certified Personal Trainer, Functional Aging Specialist, Habit Coach Pro, guest blogger, and Amazon Best Selling Author focused on helping women and a few good men over 50 to reinvent aging through her body-friendly live online workouts and in your corner support through VitalityFitnWell.com!

  • Being sensitive usually means having a strong sense of other people's emotions, but for some, this sensitivity doesn't end when people pass away.

Today's guest learned, that not only is she able to pick up on what people around her are going through, but she can also pick up communications from the other side.

Shaine Amour is an Empowering Medium, and I don't think it's a coincidence we met just after my mom passed away! But have no worries - this is not a sad conversation at all! In fact, this episode is so filled with love and fun and energy, that the connection couldn't quite keep up!

We talk about many aspects of the human experience - the inward journey of personal development, of being READY to take on the work we came to do, and how life on planet earth is our home away from home. That HOME is in spirit and that being sensitive allows us a fuller awareness of who we are and where we 'belong'.

Shaine Amour, Empowering Medium, reconnects people with their loved ones who passed away and validates life after life. Shaine empowers people to embrace their own spiritual connection where they communicate with their departed loved ones in their own way  - nurturing that FOREVER CONNECTION as they recognize that they are spiritual beings, opening them up to a profound spiritual relationship from within.

  • What role does culture play in our lives as sensitives? Our guest today is Juri Love who was born in Japan and moved to America where she is thriving as a journalist, producer, model, actress, mom, and philanthropist. That has been a big shift and we talk about how especially women have different roles and opportunities.

Juri has a very full schedule and shares how she learned to focus on doing the things she enjoys doing and how she uses manifestation and Law of Attraction to do so. Juri has a past of violence, abuse, and homelessness which has taught her to be strong and to use her intuition.

It has also inspired most of her work, and you can find beautiful examples of this in her book and her podcast: A Gift From Adversity

  • This episode is very much about The Big Picture - about how sensitives are great at connecting the dots, giving sage advice, and incorporating our whole beings when it comes to personal development.

Jennifer Parker shares an amazing story of homeschooling her 3 boys, discovering HSP, and building resiliency.

And then we talk about the superpower many sensitives seem to have in common - taking on the role of cycle breakers. It takes a lot of courage, but sensitive people are uniquely equipped to do this work because of our natural introspectiveness and our emotional strength. We know from experience how important it is to be our WHOLE selves, and breaking the patterns of generational trauma is just one of the ways we can leave a sensitive legacy.

Jennifer has been studying personal growth for almost two decades. What she found is this: Much of what is taught in the personal growth world simply does not work for everyone!

Particularly if we have highly sensitive nervous systems and/or nervous systems that have been wired during trauma, pushing ourselves harder only backfires.  Those findings inspired her to write her first book, Secrets of the Resilient Empath.

In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys hanging out with her husband and three boys, contemplating the mysteries of the universe, and laughing until her face hurts.  If she isn’t at home, she’s likely either hiking in the woods or at the local nursery looking for one more plant.

  • Being sensitive often means we have a lot of focus on others - what they need, what they expect, and how they feel. Sometimes so much that we lose our own sense of identity.

Today's guest moved away from home at 16 to find her way - her identity. It took Anna several years and a lot of miles traveled to find her identity, and along the way, she developed and learned to appreciate what she calls inner rebellion - the drive to find out who we are, and how to live our lives in a way that works for us.

The world needs more sensitive rebels who dare to be vulnerable and do things differently. Anna's story is a beautiful example of doing just that, and I hope you enjoy listening in!

Anna Begas is a healer, bodyworker, women’s coach, and mother of 2, with 10+ years of experience working with women; in private, on retreats, holding workshops and women’s circles, and online.
She guides highly sensitive women to embrace their sensitivity as the true power that it is. To find deep belonging in the alive and spirited natural world, so that they can be able to embody their inner wisdom, take their full space in their lives, and truly shine their light.

  • Many sensitives are also people-pleasers, but what happens when we feel like we have to please not just the people around us, but the institutions and their environments too?

Our guest in this episode, Jade Francesca shares her story about how this striving to live up to all the expectations landed her in the hospital before realizing something had to change.

Growing up she was never really allowed to express her emotions, so she found an alternative outlet in creativity. Both in her own work and by listening to music, reading books, and watching movies. By engaging with music or the stories of movies and books, we become aware, that we are not alone with our emotions - it can be very soothing to experience others express how we feel in moments where we are too overwhelmed to clearly define it for ourselves.

Listen in to hear how beautifully Jade has turned her sensitivities into superpowers she is putting to really good use in her work as a a creative strategist & designer, who specializes in media + marketing. She covers all things media, from website to podcast to email marketing and of course, to social media. Her mission is to create personalized strategies & designs for entrepreneurs who want to reclaim their time and attract their ideal clients.

As a sensitive & a creative, she understands all too well how overwhelming social media and marketing can be -- and that is why she wants to use her creativity, imagination & sensitivity to personalize strategies so they can be tailored to the person she works with. No strategy is one size fits all, and it is all too important for us to feel happy with your media & marketing outlets.

  • Sometimes there are people in our lives that we have to keep a distance from if we want to honor our own well-being. This was true for today's guest, LaMiskey Love, even though some of those people were family.

LaMiskey is an empath who has always been able to physically pick up on the energy in a room and has had to learn how to protect herself and distinguish between her own thoughts and emotions and those she picks up from other people.

Growing up in a Southern Baptist Church, LaMiskey learned early on, that God's love was more reliable than that of her fellow human beings. There were however questions the church couldn't answer, so she has been on a long journey of self-love, self-healing, and self-discovery to get to where she is today.

LaMiskey Love is your self-love sage, healer, and spiritual life coach. She helps you turn your pain into power and helps you heal the things that are affecting your everyday peace and happiness. She loves to talk about rebuilding your personal power after toxic relationships, living authentically in alignment, breaking generational curses, and overcoming religious manipulation through spiritual sovereignty. Her teachings are usually live and she utilizes energetic healing, candle work and crystals, and the spoken word as tools for healing. She has a podcast, Rehab My Soul, which can be found at www.rehabmysoul.com

  • One of our sensitive superpowers is an increased awareness of what is going on - not just for ourselves, but for others too.

In this episode, Magali Chastaing describes how an unhealthy relationship was the catalyst for her to look back and become an emotional detective to understand what she had felt growing up about this ability to sense - and point out what was happening emotionally in a room.

It might be a superpower, but when we are repeatedly met with criticism from people who are not aware or not capable of handling what we point out, it can cause us to internalize a lot of shame.

Magali was on an intense journey to discover how to turn this sensitive trait into powerful healing by releasing judgment. First for herself and now she uses all her superpowers to hold a healing space for others to help them take responsibility and heal their wounds.

Magali has spent the last decade intensively studying and researching consciousness, energy, trauma, healing, and self-development. She is trained in shiatsu, somatic experiencing, NARM, shamanism, and Reiki. Over time she has refined her own methodology which relies on authentic presence, sharp awareness, and a deep acceptance of the manifold expressions of being human.

Personally, she has experienced major transformations by confronting herself in silent meditation retreats, isolation, and in the dark. Through these experiences, she has transcended what she thought were her limits and acquainted herself with previously uncharted corners of her soul.

As a survivor of trauma, depression, and addiction, she is passionate about sharing the tools that helped her transform her own life.

  • To many sensitives, the idea of taking the spotlight can be scary and overwhelming, but Emily Philips has found, that her sensitivity has played an essential part in her beautiful career on the big stages as a singer and performer.

The thought of becoming visible might on one hand feel difficult, but on the other hand, we all also have a deep need to be seen and heard. This push-pull effect is something Emily helps her clients navigate, so they can expand and express themselves.

In this episode, we talk about how so many sensitive people have wonderful gifts to share with the world, and that finding the courage to be visible is so important. We need to get on the stage and share our message.

Emily supports highly sensitive coaches, healers, artists, and self-employed entrepreneurs to integrate, reconnect with + embody their voice in their relationships.

Passionate about helping others develop more intimacy + expression in their lives + communication, Emily’s soft and highly attuned approach prioritizes space for radical self-acceptance and an embracing of all parts of the creative self.

One of her core beliefs is that you are whole and loved, exactly as you are.

Clients who collaborate with Emily discover fuller availability of expression in their communication, more confidence around visibility in their work, all in tandem with a freer voice and centred nervous system. Through her unique embodiment processes that include voice work, singing, sound toning, gentle movement, and discussion, a natural reconnection to more presence + the sensual, feelingful body is often experienced through the work together, whether in one-to-one containers or within group sessions.

Emily currently lives in London in the UK and is a qualified Intuitive practitioner + Voice teacher.  Having trained in classical singing at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and physical theatre in Berlin, she has spent 18+ years teaching voice and performing professionally as an opera singer + theatre performer. • Highly Sensitive People often have stories about narcissistic relationships, and most of those stories are heartbreaking tales of suffering and insecurity. Luckily there are also stories with happy endings - like today's guest, Elisa Colangeli is sharing with us in this episode.

Elisa spent 2 years in a relationship with a narcissist, and that was when she learned about HSP and her own sensitivity. She had to find ways to handle her sensitivity so she didn't lose herself in the relationship. That journey transformed her from feeling like a victim to realizing her own inner power.

One of the things Elisa learned, was that she needed to find time for something that was just HERS, not just a hobby, but a PASSION. This is also her advice to other sensitives; find and do something for YOU.

This passion turned out to be paining, and today, Elisa is combining her sensitive superpowers with a psychological understanding of archetypes to paint powerful portraits of women. Elisa's mission is to paint more than the physical appearance. She tunes into the soul and the story of the women she paints - she captures their essence on the canvas and thereby shows them new sides of themselves.

Elisa is from Italy and she is a wife, mother of two boys, and an environmental engineer working full time in a regional environmental protection agency.

She spent most of her life studying, working and taking care of the family, and for a long time, she pulled apart her passion for art because of the lack of time and difficulties in managing an already busy daily routine.

Three years ago she realized that it was time to do something for herself, so she started dedicating time to make art systematically, learning to use different media such as charcoal, acrylic, and oil paints.

Her inspiration comes from people, especially women, and she is interested in interpreting and understanding their inner world made of dreams, fears, hope, rebirth. Being aware, on the basis of her direct experience, that women need to discover themselves and to be seen authentically, beyond stereotypes and labels, Elisa aims to help them to strengthen their identity. By her figurative paintings, set halfway between realism and expressivity, she invites women to be proud of their past, enjoy the present and face the future with joy. A poem, a book, a sentence on a newspaper, a chat with a friend, can all offer Elisa hints on new concepts and ideas for future paintings.

  • Growing up as sensitives, we easily learn to be ashamed of our emotional and thoughtful nature. Especially for men whose sensitive qualities rarely live up to society's stereotypical view of masculinity.

For Bill Allen, it took almost 10 years for him to accept and embrace being a HSP. Today he is here to share how he found authentic confidence in being a sensitive man by stepping up and being open about his sensitive nature. You might be surprised by how well he has been received by others - even as a corporate manager where his 'soft skills' turned out to be appreciated by all levels of the organization.

William Allen is an author with a writer’s heart and researcher’s mind. After getting a degree in Psychology with an eye on doing psychology research, he recalibrated for a career in Information Technology. He found himself in a thirty-year career as an Information Technology manager at Wells Fargo who enjoyed managing highly intelligent, often difficult staff, many of whom were highly sensitive.

He retired early from his corporate job to start his Hypno-coaching and neurofeedback brain training business, BrainPilots, in Bend, Oregon. In late 2016, he began his blog, The Sensitive Man, about his experiences, as a highly sensitive man. The blog became the genesis of his first book, Confessions of a Sensitive Man. His new book, On Being a Sensitive Man, is the follow-up book, which focuses on how to live in the world as a sensitive man.

He feels that HSP males need to take their keen insights and intuition and make them public. He would like to shed more light on highly sensitive males and the much-needed role they need to take in our society.
