For the final time in 2022 Tapod brings you insights into a turbulent (and that's putting it nicely) year and what to expect in 2023. Our guests are industry living legends Jo Vohland & Edan Haddock. We reflect on another crazy 12 months where the TA industry has ridden more bumps than a rodeo clown, and look forward to a 2023 that is about as predictable as the Melbourne weather.
Join us as we close out the year with some real laughs and some absolute pearls of wisdom.

On TaPod we tackle the big issues and today we sit down with one of our favs - Pavi Iyer, Global Talent Leader at Liven to discuss Web3. I thought it was part of a Spiderman Trilogy, but apparently not.
Web3 is not coming... it is here and it will change the way we live with technology. 'Great.' I hear you say... 'I'm only just catching up with Web2.' Well hold on to your hats and open yourself up for a reality check... because here comes the new frontier... -

In this episode, TaPod sits down with Craig Goldblatt from GP (formally Globalization Partners) to talk 'new ways of working' and their partnership with ATC. we love talking to Craig and we hope you love listening...
-
In a TaPod first, Craig gets 'parked' for a week as Nat Flynn - Founder of Equity - joins Lauren to tackle DE&I with the brilliant Bedi Othow.
Nothing on the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion spectrum is safe, as the team call-out unacceptable behaviour and offers lived experience with meaningful solutions to improving the workplace and recruitment process.
As Bedi, so eloquently puts it... 'And just like that... we can solve the world.'
It starts by listening.

Not all superheroes wear capes and Natalie Firth falls slap-bang into that mold.
TaPod had the privilege of spending some time with Nat to learn what it's like to rebuild a Talent Function from the ground up.
When she arrived at Envato, it was a blank canvas and with the support of her 'c-suite' Nat set about reinvigorating and reimagining Envato's Talent Strategy and the results are nothing short of brilliant. So, if Talent - where you live - is tired, check out what Nat's got to say. We're sure you'll find some nuggets of gold!

Tapod sits down with Natalie Flynn - Founder of Equidi and winner of the Innovation Lab at the Australian Talent Conference & Paula Croeser - Client Solutions Director at Hays RPO.
Nat blew the audience away with her pitch on Equidi - it really is a game-changer in managing gender pay gap.
Hays have been sponsoring the Innovation Lab for a number of years and it's fantastic to hear Paula's thoughts, not only on Equidi, but also the opportunities provided via Hays' support of past winners. This is a really interesting ep and gives valuable DE&I insights into the growing challenge of pay discrepancies between genders. -
It was early on Day 2 of the brilliant ATC in Sydney and (despite a raging hangover) we just had to catch up with Katrina Collier.
We have been itching (metaphorically, not literally) to speak with Katrina forever. Design-Thinking Facilitator... Speaker... Author and bloody Legend - Katrina is renowned for her 'no-holds-barred' attitude and forward-thinking in the TA/Recruitment industry.
In her own words she is on a mission to fix talent acquisition and candidate experience; often exacerbated by hybrid working. Katrina is one of 2 people globally delivering design-thinking workshops specifically for recruitment, helping companies fix the real issues preventing successful hiring. She is also a Mentor, Author of The Robot-Proof Recruiter, leader of The Collective, a global keynote speaker, and co-host of Hear The People.
Katrina is an Ambassador for Hope for Justice charity, and you’ll find her on LinkedIn and on Instagram & Twitter @KatrinaMCollier
There were many highlights of our catch-up but if we could break it down to just 2 words they are 'be curious.' This is your opportunity to shine; you may not get another - so have a listen and get inspired... we did.

Fresh off their win in the 'Innovation of the Year' category at the ITAs, KPMG today launch their 'Talent Attraction & Recruitment Reimagined (TARR)' initiative.
Last week Tapod was lucky to attend the internal event, where the entire Talent Team was introduced to SmartRecruiters & Scout (the non-binary interactive careers bot). It was a day of real innovation and fun - hosted by Andrea Kirby.
Take a listen as some of the key players explain KPMG's journey through Talent innovation. It's amazing.

Fresh from her triumph as MC for the ATC - Sarah Purches shares her thoughts on what makes a good job ad with us here at TaPod.
When we put it out to our network 'who should we speak to about writing really good job ads?' Sarah's name came up time and time again... and she doesn't disappoint.
So... what does make a good job ad... especially in a candidate-driven environment? How do you cut through the noise and achieve a higher response rate? This is really helpful advice. -
Well... you asked and you shall receive! A very controversial Job Ad - specifically advertising for Agency Recruiters came to our (and everyone else's) attention recently. We hunted down the man behind the ad - Michael Edelstein (Probably Australia's Best Accounting Recruiter and Founder at Recruitment Expert) to do a TaPod deep-dive.
Michael is an eloquent and commercially savvy Recruitment Agency Owner who has very clear ideas about what works in the industry. Is he driving extra traffic through controversy? Or has he hit on the 'special-sauce' formula on what makes a great recruitment ad? You be the judge.
We found that the podcast raised a few extra questions... Like, how important is it to filter out candidates at the Job Ad level? And can a job ad have a positive or negative impact on your employer brand?
Buckle in and come along for the journey. -
This week on TaPod we speak with the oracle of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Recruitment - Kris Clelland.
Did you know that 56% of businesses in the APAC region have no Talent Strategy at all? And of the ones that do... 76% have zero... that's right zero DE&I recruitment strategies in place. We have to do better and Kris shows us exactly how to do better. From defining & implementing strategy... to the tech that supports it - this is a must-listen episode if you are serious about bringing diversity into your workplace.

On our special episode this month, TaPod speaks with Harry Godber from Flare.
Harry is an amazing individual - he helped establish the Australian Space Agency (yes you heard right) and now he runs strategy at Flare.
Did you know that 75% of employees value benefits and financial advice in the workplace, yet less than 1/3 of employers provide these services?
In an environment where we are all competing for the best talent and more importantly competing to KEEP our best talent don't you think that catering to what 75% of employees want is a good start?
It's a nice short episode and is jam-packed with great advice. Get around it. -
This week on TaPod we catch up with the enigmatic Sophie Mexted. Beginning her working life 'Below Deck' on a super-yacht, Sophie has evolved into a 'super' Talent Professional, winning the prestigious ITA Award for Corporate Talent Professional of the Year.
Championing the #YouAreRemarkable program internally at #Youi to designing and delivering innovative recruitment campaigns, Sophie is a breath of fresh air and someone we can all learn a thing or 2 from.
So, get ready to sail into the stormy seas of #Talent with Sophie - we'll bring the life jackets.

In a world where sourcing has become more and more competitive (and bloody difficult), we catch up with Jess Jones - Head of Talent Acquisition ANZ & Global Talent Sourcing Leader at Toll Group this week on TaPod to help us make sense of it all...
Not only is Jess one of the most fun guests we've ever had, but she really (I mean really) knows her stuff. From Talent Communities to Internal Mobility to Sourcing - Jess provides gold nugget after gold nugget of recruitment tips for all levels. Here's an example... 'We haven't got any business recruiting externally if we haven't done it effectively internally first...'
And what about her description of the ITAs? 'It was like a professionally run Bucks !'
What a wordsmith! And what a Leader!
Thanks to Flare for your continued support. -
Today on TaPod we catch up with Mick Bradfield - Director of Talent Acquisition - Global Tech, Digital & DNA at Adidas.
From leading Talent Teams in Dubai, New York & Australia, Mick has learned a thing or two about high performance. And when you throw in the Global Sports juggernaut Adidas - it takes it to a whole different level.
We speak DE&I and the challenge of managing global teams across different time zones and Mick takes it all in his stride. He's fun... down to earth... but best of all he has wisdom.
Thanks to Flare for your support. -
This week on TaPod we catch up with Toby Marshall from Stable & Wise. Toby is an Ageism Warrior and it's part of the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion conundrum that we ALL need to do better in.
The 4 Myths of Mature Workers are: they have health problems, they are Technophobes, they are too expensive and they are less intelligent and creative than younger workers. It's all bull shit and Toby explains why... We have a laugh but there is a real serious undertone. Please have a listen.

It's time for the monthly sponsor catch-up, but this one's a little bit different. We sat down with not 1... not 2... but 6 of the APAC Smart Recruiters Team!
We discussed the ITAs, ATSs and basically anything with a 3 letter acronym!
It was fun with a few nuggets thrown in for good measure. -
This week on TaPod we sit down with our new best friend Bill Corbett from Stanley Black & Decker. This guy is a superstar! Not only has he recently led a track on Talentpooling & Mobility at the Tru event in Sydney, but he also ran in the Sydney Running Festival whilst juggling duties at Stanley Black & Decker with Parental Leave... and he still found time to speak to us!
We drill down into Bill's thoughts & tips on talentpooling and mobility and at the same time help Lauren deal with her dodgy home renovations.
It's fun & manic - just the way we like it.
Thanks to Smart recruiters for your support. -
Laura White has been a great friend to TaPod over the years and her win at the ITAs was one of the most popular of the night. We catch up with her to discuss the changing face of Talent Acquisition and what leadership means in the post-COVID era.
She's very clever... undeniably witty and about to bring her first mini-me into the world. We love her and you will too!
Thanks to Smart Recruiters for your support this month. -
This week on TaPod we meet with Hana Zawodny - New Zealand's only Burnout Specialist. With a background in recruitment (and a husband who still recruits), Hana has her finger on the pulse of our industry and the unique challenges and stressful environments we face every single day.
We love Hana... and you will too. She simplifies the emotions behind anxiety & burnout and helps us break it all down into little bite-sized chunks we can chew up and spit out.
PS. we also get to psycho-analyse Lauren and that's always fun!
