Today I am talking to the wonderful Reverend Brooke Scott, who, I owe an apology to. Because this episode was recorded so long ago she was not yet a rev. And now she is the pastor of a whole ass church called Church on Main, she has had articles written about how radically inclusive she is, she’s amazing and super smart. You may recognize her from her appearances on the TLDR Bible show podcast where she says really smart things and I learned a lot from listening to her. I also learned a lot from this conversation. We talk about Brooke’s call to ministry, what it’s like coming out of evangelical spaces into a more queer inclusive faith, we bond a little bit over our mutually deceased parents, and why cheap Christian platitudes are not helpful for grieving or healing. There’s a lot in this episode so we might as well get right into it. So sit back, grab your noise cancelling headphones, and prepare for this weeks info dump. Here’s “Listening to Marginalized Voices” with Brooke Scott

My guest today is Nav the poet, Nav is a spoken word artist and poet who speaks on all sorts of things but also does a lot of educational content on Sikhi, or the Sikh religion, of which he is a member. Nav is incredibly gracious and patient and speaks beautifully about his faith, and about social issues, and also about the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He was gracious enough to sit down with me as we did a compare and contrast between Sikhi and Christianity and learned more about each others faiths.
If you want to find Nav online you can find him at @NavThePoet on TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter. Definitely worth the follow. If you want to find Rev. Welcome to the Autistic Mystic, my name is Jeff, I am the autistic mystic, apologies on the front end for the delay in getting new episodes out, I put out an update the other day about my computer troubles but I will be posting 2 episodes a week for the next few weeks to catch up. Today I am joined by the unstoppable Tori Jameson, Tori is a pastor in St. Louis and the founder of Lot’s Wife Trans and Queer Chaplaincy where they minister to the oft overlooked and extra marginalized letters of the LGBTQ2PIA+ community. Tori is an activist and community organizer and if there is social activism happening they are right there in the thick of it using their voice and privilege to give space and a platform for those marginalized communities. In this conversation we talk about the progressive clergy movement, tone policing, the meaning behind the name Lots Wife trans and queer chaplaincy and how churches can better care for and serve the trans community. A quick note, my son woke up twice during this recording, I’ve edited the interruptions out, but because we were live on tiktok while recording Tori had some really good conversations with the people watching. I’m including one of those conversations at the end of the episode so if you want to hear that keep listening after the outro. Okay, I’m gonna stop talking so we can get right into it, so sit back, grab your noise cancelling headphones, and strap yourself in for this week’s info dump. Here’s How to Bear Witness with Tori Jameson

Jeff is joined by pastor, community organizer, and podcast host, Andrew Harrison Cox to talk about the bible as a living document and the concept of prophetic mockery wherein the bible uses comedy to punch up at oppressive peoples and systems and call people back to right worship to God.
