We are so blessed to have Dr. Kathy Koch back for her second episode on the Warfare Parenting Podcast. Kathy shares more from her new book, Parent Differently: Raise Kids with Biblical Character That Changes Culture, about how we can instill obedience in our children through developing their character. She describes how creating character in children leads to them becoming obedient as well.

Kathy discusses why focusing on building character over obedience leads to a greater development in children as a whole, and often will allow them to be more obedient as a result.

    Who is Kathy Koch?

Dr. Kathy Koch (pronounced “cook”) is the Founder and President of Celebrate Kids, Inc., based in Fort Worth, TX, and a cofounder of Ignite the Family, based in Alpharetta, GA. She is proud to be represented by the Ambassador Speakers Bureau of Nashville, TN. She is a featured speaker for the Great Homeschool Conventions, on the faculty of Summit Ministries, and a frequent presenter for Care Net, Axis, and other organizations. She speaks regularly at schools, churches, and pregnancy resource centers.

Things We Talk About in this Episode:

How are character and obedience connected to each other and why is that important to know? How can you use misbehavior to teach character values to your children? What are the three foundational traits that support character and obedience?

  • On this week's episode of the Warfare Parenting Podcast, I am so excited to welcome back Author Connie Albers, as she talks about finding growth and grace in parenting. Connie shares that as parents, we have the freedom to pivot parenting techniques as our children walk through different seasons of life.

Pivoting isn't a sign of being a bad parent, but instead allows us to focus specifically on where our child is in their walk through life and maximize their growth in love and grace. Connie also explains that there is no "one size fits all" to parenting and every child is uniquely created in the image of God.

Therefore, parents have to learn to embrace the unique growth of their children and find ways to walk alongside them as they grow into the man or woman that God created them to be.

    Who is Connie Albers?

Connie Albers has spent much of her adult life as a homeschool mom to five and mompreneur with an outreach and ministry to parents through her speaking and various leadership roles. Balancing her roles as a wife, speaker, homeschooler, consultant, and active volunteer, she has learned to discover resilience and joy within the stop and go of life. She is a respected leader, social media enthusiast, and trusted mom who understands the challenges of balancing the demands of life, work and homeschool.

More recently, Connie is equipping parents with her book Parenting beyond the Rules by NavPress, which outlines positive approaches to parenting today’s teenagers. Her enthusiasm for helping others navigate social media led to her taking a post at Social Media Marketing World. Connie’s mission is to equip moms to live their life with confidence and joy.

Things We Talk About in this Episode:

Why is there freedom in pivoting in parenting and how should we use pivoting in parenting? How do we build a love of scripture in our childrens' lives and why is that important? Why do we need to recognize that we won't always get things right as parents and how can we be the best parent possible for our kids?

  • One of the most difficult seasons of parenting can be when our children become teenagers. While this can be a challenging time of transition for parents and teens, you can parent well and build a strong relationship with your children even through the teen years. So how do we parent well in our children's teen years?

We are so excited to have author Connie Albers as our guest on this week's episode of The Warfare Parenting Podcast. Connie has over 20 years of experience working with teenagers and has seen the negative impacts of well-intentioned but often misguided styles of parenting teenagers. She explains how our listeners with children in their teen years can guide their hearts and remain a primary influence in their lives.

Connie talks about how to raise a teen according to their given strengths, talents, and personality types, as well as how to equip your teen with tools to live a responsible, fruitful life.

    Who is Connie Albers?

Connie Albers has spent much of her adult life as a homeschool mom to five and mompreneur with an outreach and ministry to parents through her speaking and various leadership roles. Things We Talk About in this Episode:

What should I do if I discover my child has been exposed or has developed an addiction to pornography? What about if they fall back into that addiction after we start treating it? How do we create safe ways for our child to access the internet, especially when pornography is so easy to access? Why is having discussions about porn addiction important to keeping our children safe?
