Dr. Erin Cooke is a Diagnostic Radiologist at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Cooke serves as the Diagnostic Radiology Program Director and Director of Arts at Vanderbilt. She is also a member of numerous organizations, including the American College of Radiology, the Radiological Society of North America, the American Association of Women Radiologists, and the Association of Program Directors in Radiology, among others. In this podcast, Dr. Cooke discusses her unconventional path to radiology, her passion for art and how she has been able to integrate art into her work as a radiologist, her views on mentorship, and her advice to those considering a career in radiology. Dr. Alexa O. Levey is an Interventional Radiologist at UT Health Houston in Houston, Texas.
During this podcast, we discuss Dr. Levey’s path to medicine, why she changed course during her fourth year of medical school from surgery to radiology, her thoughts on work-life balance, and how she and her husband navigate life in a dual-physician household.

Dr. Amy K. Patel is a Board-Certified Radiologist who specializes in Breast Imaging. She is a Breast Radiologist, Medical Director of the Women’s Imaging Center at Liberty Hospital and Assistant Professor of Radiology at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine.
Dr. Patel is a graduate of the combined BA/MD accelerated program at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She completed her Diagnostic Radiology Residency at the University of Kansas-Wichita where she served as the first female chief resident in an all male program. She completed her Breast Imaging Fellowship at Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology Washington University in Saint Louis.
Dr. Patel's professional interests include recruitment of women in radiology, as she established the American College of Radiology (ACR) Resident and Fellow Section Women and Diversity Advisory Group when she was in training and now serves on the ACR Commission for Women and Diversity. She is also on the steering committee for RADxx, an initiative to recruit women into imaging informatics. She also serves as Vice President on the American Association for Women in Radiology Board and will be President in 2023. Her interests also include mentorship, social media, also serving as chair of the social media committee for the Society of Breast Imaging and Associate Editor for Digital Media for the Journal of the American College of Radiology. She is also currently Chair of the ACR Young and Early Career Professional Section and Chair of the Society of Breast Imaging Young Professionals Section.
Her research interests include digital breast tomosynthesis and artificial intelligence. She is published on these subjects and is considered a thought leader in her field.
She also has an avid interest in radiology political advocacy, serving on the RADPAC Board. She is also a former ACR Rutherford Lavanty Fellow in Government Relations. She is also the first female and youngest radiologist recipient of the ACR Howard Fleishon MD Advocate of the Year Award. She is a staunch advocate for patients receiving access to standard radiological care, particularly in the realm of annual mammography screening beginning at age 40. Consequently, she was involved in helping pass the bill in the state of Missouri ensuring annual screening 2D and 3D mammography coverage beginning at age 40 in average risk women as well as the more recent bill ensuring coverage for above average risk women in accordance to ACR recommendations. -
Dr. Lucy B. Spalluto, M.D., MPH, is a graduate of University of Virginia and earned her medical degree from University of Virginia School of Medicine. She completed a residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Brown University and a fellowship in Women’s Imaging at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Dr. Spalluto joined the Vanderbilt faculty in 2014 as Assistant Professor and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2019. Her clinical work focuses on breast imaging, including mammography, ultrasound, MRI and image-guided procedures.
In 2019, Dr. Spalluto completed the VA Quality Scholars Health Services Research Fellowship and Vanderbilt Master of Public Health program. She leads an active research program focused on addressing health disparities, designing health equity focused learning materials for healthcare professionals, and mentoring residents and medical students interested in health equity.
Currently, she is the Vice Chair of Health Equity, Director of Women in Radiology, an initiative she co-founded in 2015, and Associate Director, Office of Diversity and Inclusion for the Department of Radiology. She serves on the American College of Radiology's Commission on Patient- and Family-Centered Care and Commission for Women and Diversity, and as the immediate past President of the American Association for Women in Radiology (AAWR). -

Dr. Porter completed her Diagnostic Radiology Residency in the Department of Radiology and Radiological Science at Johns Hopkins Hospital in 2014 and the Body and Cardiovascular MRI Fellowship at Johns Hopkins in 2015. After training, she joined the faculty at Johns Hopkins in the Body Imaging Division. In 2016, she joined the Abdominal Imaging faculty at the University of Alabama Birmingham, where she serves as the MR Modality Chief. She is proud to serve as the President of the American Association for Women in Radiology and is a member of the American College of Radiology Commission for Women and Diversity.
