In this episode Fiona, Sherween, and Chantal share their Dominica experiences - they recount their stay at Harmony Villas, the Kalinago naming ceremony, and the WATO Food Festival, which featured chefs from various Caribbean islands. The festival's authenticity, community spirit, and cultural exchange are emphasised. The hosts then share a few of their St Lucia moments as Sherween and Fiona welcome Chantal to their island for her first visit as an adult. Personal moments of joy include Fiona's visit to a locally owned farm in Mon Tete Choiseul, Chantal's time with her nephew Jeriah, and Sherween's decision to relocate to Choiseul. The episode concludes with reflections on the joy and connections formed during their much overdue reunion.
This week’s Under The Mango Tree is extra special, featuring a recording of the three hosts bursting into uncontrollable laughter over some pure foolishness—just like we did throughout the entire Dominica trip!

Question, why is Fiona so in love with the French Speaking Caribbean islands? Is Sherween back in mommy mode?
This week Chantal, Sherween, and Fiona share their wish lists of ‘things they wish they knew before moving home to the Caribbean’. They discuss the challenges of reconnecting with friends, the bureaucracy, and cultural differences, such as homophobia and misogyny. Despite these challenges, our ladies find joy in their reconnection to the Caribbean - its beauty and community. Fiona is currently in Guadeloupe, enjoying the cultural immersion and local cuisine, Sherween is in St Lucia basking in the glow of having both her daughters visit back to back and Chantal is about to wrap up her first Artist Development programme in Nevis.

Episode 22 – The Forgotten Episode
This week, we’re sharing a special episode that was recorded back in June—so some of the topics might feel a bit outdated!
In this Lost (and now found) episode, we dive into the issue of environmental irresponsibility and littering in Saint Lucia, stressing the importance of both personal and community responsibility in protecting the island’s natural beauty. We also open up about our own battles with procrastination and balancing work and life, while reflecting on how we celebrate Caribbean culture and heritage. This conversation reminds us of the need for action on environmental issues, the importance of self-care, and the courage it takes to truly embrace our cultural identity.
No Under The Mango Tree segment this week, but don’t forget—we’re heading to Dominica with Les Bohèmes for a workshop from October 27th to November 3rd, and we’ll also be at the WATO festival on November 2nd! Come and join the fun!

The conversation highlights the joy of food, personal anecdotes, and the importance of balance in dietary habits.

Episode 19
We know we’ve been away for a bit, but that just means we have so much to share!
Chantal calls it a mix of mayhem and magic, Sherween is now an honorary Nevisian after her whirlwind trip to Nevis this summer, and Fiona is sticking to her boundaries while making sure her happiness stays a priority.
Our family has grown, y’all! We’re excited to introduce our new manager, BreAnna Holmes, to the team. Her energy and love for the podcast really stood out, and we can’t wait to work with her.
This summer brought up some important issues for Sherween, and she’s realizing she needs to put her health first. Plus, she’s gearing up to launch her new podcast, “High Times with Sherween.” We all played mas this year—Fiona and Sherween went Ole’ Mas as “Helen of the Malpwops” in Saint Lucia, and then Fiona went on to have an amazing time playing mas at Notting Hill! Chantal made waves by launching her troupe for Culturama 50, called “The Light,” which looked incredible on the road, all while curating and launching "Bloom Where You’re Planted 2024."
Under the mango tree, we’re sharing some sounds of our summer adventures. We’re also heading to Dominica with Les Bohèmes to facilitate a workshop, and you’ve got 24 hours to book with the code RELATABLE for a sweet 20% off. We’ll also be attending the WATO festival, so come join us!

Episode 12
It's Carnival Season, everyone! In February, all three hosts participated in carnival celebrations from different islands. Therefore, we found it appropriate to engage in a discussion with one of Saint Lucia’s Cultural Icons, Dr. Adrian Augier, regarding the evolution of carnival from its traditional roots towards a more commercialized direction. We explore how both aspects coexist, each depending on the other for survival, while striving to maintain the authentic essence of what carnival signifies to us.
This week, Under The Mango Tree returns, transporting you to Martinique carnival, where you can immerse yourself in the chants of "Libérez le siwo" (Liberate the Siwo) and the rhythmic drumbeats that evoke a deep sense of nostalgia and spiritual connection to our ancestors.

There was so much to talk about, and so little time so watch this space as we may need to run part two.
