There’s so many stages to grief that it’s such a process and there’s no correct order. We’ve each been dealing/processing in our own way and maybe some of you can relate. Asana being back in Tokyo and Anami with the kids… we are both experiencing such different emotions.

Welcome back, English listeners, to asanami room!
We are so sorry that we've been gone for a good 1... 2... 3 months 😅
Today's episode may come as a shock to many of you.
Our beloved father, Robert Clinton Butz II, died on January 9th, 2023 at 7:30 P.M. at just 65 years young. Many of his friends knew him as Casey, the man with the biggest heart in the world. He was a remarkable father, brother, husband, son, cousin, friend, and best of all, grandfather. He ALWAYS introduced himself to everyone by saying, “Hi, I’m Casey, and these are my two princesses, Anami and Asana, and our queen, Kumiko.” He treated us exactly that way. He was such a family man and loved driving us to school, recitals, and our practices, and he always took the chance to volunteer. He always made it a point to check in and keep in touch with everyone, regardless of distance. We know he made a lot of people smile with those calls. He was probably most well-known for his dad jokes ~ what we would do to hear him say one more of those. His love was so fierce, and he always prioritized others’ needs by asking, “Do you need anything?” A room’s energy would change when our dad walked in. His joyful presence, his distinctive laugh, and his warm hugs made everyone feel welcome and special, and just happier. He never met a stranger. Children adored him. Our dad was funny, always the first one to play with the kids, engage in conversation, genuinely interested in people’s lives. He fully embraced the pleasures of life ~ quality time with his family, a good meal, a good project, a swim, music, a daily phone call with his sisters. He tended to animals and plants with the same gentle care as his loved ones. He showed up completely to his life with his loving heart, his truck, his strength, his humor, and his generous attention. It seems impossible that someone so full of life is gone. What a beautiful legacy our dad has left all of us who loved him and were loved by him – we, the luckiest ones. He will live on in us forever. We will love him forever. -
