Taking a hard left after The Prowler, we get into Disney family film territory with the Robin Williams vehicle, FLUBBER. This remake of The Absent-Minded Professor features Williams as a forgetful inventor with a flying robot and a dancing green blob as a friend. We also get an appearance from Wil Wheaton as a shitty little rich kid as well as Clancy Brown and Ted Levine as hapless, silly goons with a penchant for being hit in the head. This was a staple of Derrick's childhood, so this episode will potentially serve as a nostalgia buster of sorts.

Our next installment of Schlock & Load features maybe the only GOOD Chuck Norris movie, Joseph Zito's INVASION USA from Cannon Films. Norris is a mostly silent former special ops agent that is pulled into a fight against terrorists that are trying to use America's racism and social tensions to take it down from the inside. This flick features the actual destruction of an entire, real neighborhood in Georgia.

For our first episode of March, we get into one of the classic BAD movies with Dan Aykroyd's only directorial credit, 1991's NOTHING BUT TROUBLE! Starring Chevy Chase, Demi Moore, Dan Aykroyd, John Candy and Dan Aykroyd again with a special appearance from Tupac and the Digital Underground. This cinematic bucket of vomit follows Chevy and Demi as they're waylaid in Valkenvania by a Texas Chainsaw-esque family and have to struggle against blobby shit babies, a judge with a dick nose, saucy hot dogs, murder coasters and corrupt police. Get ready to chunder.

The final Made in Arizona month selection is one of Derrick's weird-ass obscure picks, Paul Clinco's shot-on-video satanic panic flick DEATH MAGIC! A Civil War general is put to death for being a genocidal maniac and is resurrected by a satanic cult in Tucson, Arizona. He quickly sets out to murder the descendants of those responsible for his death. This movie looks like crap and has terrible acting, but it's full of great, bloody special effects and a lot of community theater boobs. We tried to shoot video for you guys, but someone in the neighborhood crashed into a transformer and took out the power and internet, so it didn't happen this time around.

Our newest Patreon-exclusive monthly show, Latchkey Vids, marches on as we dive into COP ROCK's third episode HAPPY MUDDER'S DAY! Gaines and Rose find themselves in deep on a domestic violence call, La Russo uses his girlfriend as bait to catch a drug dealer, Potts struggles with his morals as the Captain and Oz pressure him to flip on his partner and the Mayor has to deal with the public thinking she's "ugly enough to stop a train!" We get some great musical numbers including a soulful domestic violence song and an 80s pop song about plastic surgery. Bigger is better when it's underneath your sweater, indeed.

Made in Arizona month continues with the 80's teen comedy, CAN'T BUY ME LOVE, starring Patrick Dempsey and Amanda Peterson (Rest in Pictures). Get a video version on our YouTube page, or get it ad-free at patreon.com/worsepeople. This classic 80s teen romp was filmed entirely in Tucson and actually takes place there as well. Nerdy ass Patrick Dempsey offers the head cheerleader $1000 to pretend to like him so he can be cool, and, in classic 80s fashion, she falls for him, but he's too self-absorbed to even notice. He starts to blow off his old friends, including Children of the Corn's Malachai, turning into a real shitheel, and, of course, hilarity ensues. This is a nostalgic classic for Jack and Whitney but a first-time watch for Derrick. You shit on my house!

This month's Patreon-exclusive Mental Health episode is a listener request from one of our longest Patrons, Tanker Tom! We're watching Simon Wincer's HARLEY DAVIDSON AND THE MARLBORO MAN, starring Mickey Rourke and Don Johnson! It might be a slightly apocalyptic future and Mickey Rourke and Don Johnson are a couple of cool, motorcycle-riding customers navigating their way through a mad world of corporate greed, semi-indestructible goons and massive shootouts. Featuring show favorite character actor Sven Ole Thorson and one of the lesser Baldwins, as well as Breaking Bad's Giancarlo Esposito and a sleepy Tom Sizemore.

For this week's Made in Arizona episode, we're diving into Roland Emmrich's UNIVERSAL SOLDIER, starring Jean Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren! This also kicks off our new monthly segment SHLOCK & LOAD, where we'll be getting into the nitty gritty of 80s and 90s shlock action cinema. A secret group within the US government is taking dead troops and bringing them back with cybernetic enhancements to take on the toughest missions, but this time, they brought back the wrong soldier in Lundgren! Van Damme has to save journalist Veronica Roberts from the nefarious group before time runs out!

We kick off Made in Arizona month with a Nic Cage/Tommy Lee Jones banger! FIRE BIRDS is essentially a Top Gun rip-off, but with helicopters and less Scientology, and we had a great time with it. Nic Cage plays hotshot helicopter pilot Jake Preston, who gets accepted into an Apache training program to fly missions against America's biggest enemy at the time: drug cartels! Tommy Lee Jones has to train him, and Sean Young has to endure his constant sexual harassment.

Our final 1989 flick of the month is directed by Friday the 13th's Sean S Cunningham and stars.... no one you've ever heard of. Produced quickly and on a small budget to beat the other two films to the box office, this one is very similar to LEVIATHAN, but without any of the special effects talent or acting chops. This time we have a team of Navy members trying to install underwater missiles that find themselves in a mystery involving a lost Russian ship and running afoul of a massive creature.

James Cameron's incredibly troubled masterpiece was one of three water-based sci-fi action flicks released in 1989 and our favorite movie of the month. Starring Ed Harris, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, and Michael Biehn, it follows a team of underwater oil drillers and Marines as they try to recover a nuclear submarine that is suspected to have been taken out by Russians. Spoiler alert: We have more underwater aliens to deal with, but this time in a James Cameron fashion, which means epically..
-
One of three 1989 underwater sci-fi action flicks this month, LEVIATHAN is directed by George P Cosmatos and stars Peter Weller, Ernie Hudson, Daniel Stern and Hector Elizondo. A team of underwater miners (very different from underwater oil drillers like The Abyss) encounter a bizarre creature in the depths of the ocean that shouldn't exist, but it does and they have a battle on their hands. There's also a monster in the sealab with them in the form of an outrageously horny Daniel Stern.

Here's a sneak peek of our latest Patreon segment available for only $3 a month at patreon.com/worsepeople! In this month's installment of Latchkey Vids, we continue the journey into 1990's COP ROCK. The consequences of Detective LaRusso's unjustified shooting are felt while we meet a new member of the squad and get some great songs including an epic rock opera about wishing for riches, a sexy saxophone number about cops loving their brothers and we get some unexpected sexism from Ronnie Cox.

With a stacked cast including Dustin Hoffman, Sharon Stone, Sam Jackson and Liev Schreiber, this Barry Levinson picture sounds like it should be awesome, but god damn is it a chore. Don't worry though, we watched it so you don't have to! A team of scientists are dropped into a mysterious situation involving an alien spacecraft at the bottom of the sea and a perplexing golden sphere that is more than it seems to be.

We kick off DROWNuary with a favorite of all members of this podcast, Kevin Costner's post-apocalyptic epic WATERWORLD! The polar ice caps have melted due to global warming and humanity survives on scattered floating settlements and boats. Of course, not only good people make it, Dennis Hopper and his Smokers roam to open seas, pillaging and murdering for survival. This one is long and you can just feel Kevin Costner smelling his own farts, but it's still a damn good time.
