In this new episode of bang to rights , I delve into the tragic case of Brittney Jade Dwyer, a 19-year-old from Queensland, Australia, whose obsession with horror media and greed led her to commit the unthinkable. In August 2016, Brittney traveled nearly 2,000 kilometers to Adelaide with her friend Bernadette Burns, intent on stealing her 81-year-old grandfather Robert Whitwell's life savings of over $100,000, which he kept hidden in his home. After reminiscing over family photos, Brittney fatally stabbed her grandfather in the neck and chest. Shockingly, she then assisted him in applying a band-aid to one of the wounds and washed dishes as he lay dying. Burns, who waited in the car, encouraged Brittney via text messages to "harden up and do it." Both women pleaded guilty to murder; Brittney was sentenced to life imprisonment with a non-parole period of 21 years, while Burns received a minimum of 13.5 years.
