Hi, Morgan McCollum here, documenting my time at The Common Well in Garden City and bringing you along with me. This is the 8th week of documenting my residency. I went downtown this week and switched it up a bit talking about cameras and the obsession many have with tech. It can be paralyzing to think you don't have the right equipment to make what you have in mind, but it's important to not let that stop you from creating. This is a summary of my eighth full week during the second wave of the Alexa Rose Foundation Residency and some of the things that happened during it.

This is a summary of my seventh full week during the second wave of the Alexa Rose Foundation Residency and some of the things that happened during it.

As an abstract expressionist working predominantly with acrylics on canvas, Michael Norsk tends to steer away from imposing the limitations of traditional elements within his work. Instead, he accents the use of layering, texture, contrast and value. Each of his abstract expressionism paintings begin with an emotional foundation tied to a momentary experience. For Michael, painting is therapeutic and provides a creative and productive outlet from an often busy and distracted world. Mental health is a vital part of Michael's wellbeing. For him, the painting process is therapeutic and calming. His collections, and individual pieces, represent a window into the layers of the journey along his path on the mental health continuum. His work can currently be seen at: Idaho Art Gallery, Meridian, Idaho where there will be a reception held 11/10He will participate in the Boise Weekly Art Auction on 10/19or on his Website https://michaelanorsk.com/

Andrea Bonadiman has always been intrigued by nature. Andrea has created art from the time she was a small child. Bringing her artistic and academic interests together spawned the foundation for Bonadimani ART. Andrea explores many different mediums, such as skulls, bone, saw blades, canvas, wood, & clothing. She has discovered a plethora of different ways to create art with these mediums. Carving, acrylic, and pyrography are common practices found in her skull and bone art.
In January of 2023 Morgan McCollum and Dia Bassett made the trek to Ontario, Oregon to interview Andrea about her art, and why bones are her medium of choice. I want to thank all the Patreon supporters for their continued donations.

Following a professional career in martial arts (and several broken bones), Tom Callos is pursuing a quieter calling in relief print making. He found mastery of martial arts through repetition and seeks to do the same in his printmaking so he set out to create 1,000 portraits, believing a martial arts adage that until you’ve done something 1,000 times you haven’t really tried to learn it. Tom likes to focus his work on people who he considers to be upstanders and has recently worked on a series called People of Boise, where he features local upstanders. I hope you enjoy my interview with Printmaker Tom Callos. His website is http://www.tomcallos.com. He showcases his work at https://www.instagram.com/tomcallos nearly daily!
