This week I chatted to Aoife Cassidy McMenamin of Education Equality Ireland about their campaign to remove religious instruction from schools. As you probably know, many Irish families have no choice but to send their children to Catholic schools, and this is having a significant impact on children's education. Aoife tells us about the efforts being made to change that.

Orla Comerford is a three time paralympian Irish runner from Dublin who absolutely killed in the Paris games, winning a bronze medal in the T13 100M sprint. I was delighted to have the chance to talk to her this week about her career in athletics, the growth of the paralympics, representation, art and the need for improvement when it comes to accessibility in Ireland. I loved her and I know you will too.

This week I talk to friends and collaborators Shaun Dunne and Lauren Larkin about Everything Falls, a new work of theater which includes music and dance and explores the lives and experiences of carers in Ireland. We discuss pursuing a career in the arts when your family aren't exactly enthusiastic about it, the origins of Shaun and Lauren's friendship, and why Shaun felt it was important to shine a light on the experiences of carers in this piece.

I was delighted to catch up with Tony Cantwell this week. He has created a new comedy series for RTE Player called Good Boy, which is based on his own experience of getting a late diagnosis of ADHD. I really loved the four-part-series, which features a who's who of contemporary Irish comedy and I think you will too. It launches next week on October 16th.

This week I caught up with Stephanie Rainey and Sarah Power, two best friends and musical collaborators. Stephanie and Sarah are just back from LA, where they made it to the quarter finals of American Idol, and I loved catching up with them on their experience there. We also discussed the humiliation of rejection, even when its professional, how to keep going after you feel like you've failed and also of the resilience required to make a career in the music industry.

The Hope and Courage Collective was set up in 2021 to supporting and empower communities to take action against hate, bigotry and extremism. As this is something I know many of us have been struggling with, I thought it would be helpful to learn about the ways the organisation is taking action to ensure hatemongers don't take hold of our society. This week I spoke to Niamh McDonald, Director of Advocacy and Community Engagement at the Hope and Courage Collective, and I learned a lot.
Here are the links Niamh mentioned during our conversation:
