The substance only masks what's really going on. Whether you are beginning your recovery journey or have been navigating the path for a while, the road to sobriety can be a long and lonely one.
Melissa Huray, is the Executive Director of The Lindell Recovery Network/The Hope Report and an Emmy-award-winning news reporter and anchor. She has appeared on television programs such as His Glory Ministry and CBS Minnesota's WCCO-TV. She is the author of her memoir, "Blackout to Blessing", and devotional - "Radical Freedom; Breaking the Chains of Addiction For Good."
Growing up with an alcoholic father, she struggled from a young age with feelings of fear and abandonment and yearned for acceptance. During her teen years, however, she found a temporary escape - through alcohol, and the consequences quickly consumed fifteen years of her life. -
Things may look great on social media posts, but for some the holidays aren't so happy, especially with those struggling with strained relationships, sadness and past hurts. Conflicts can happen at work, at church, with friends and in the best of families! But conflicts should lead us to the One to whom we can turn to for direction, strength, and courage. Passivity is not the real path to peace. Resolution rests in confronting the wrong, but with the right heart. We can overcome differences. Iraq continues to be in turmoil with the Islamic State, or ISIS, committing genocide against Christians and others under its control. Jenny’s guest is a sister in Christ, Susan Dakak.
