A Full Breakdown Of The New Creepy Kohberger Evidence That May End His Life With Bob Motta
Could one chilling photo seal the fate of alleged Idaho killer Bryan Kohberger?
In this episode, defense attorney Bob Motta joins Tony Brueski to break down the bombshell revelations in the case, including receipts that allegedly tie Kohberger directly to the purchase of the knife and sheathâoh, and a sharpener that conveniently resembles a vacuum attachment (because nothing screams inconspicuous like sharpening your knife before a massacre). The conversation takes a twisty turn into the newly unsealed court filings, thanks to a judge finally putting transparency over secrecy.
They also explore the eerie timing of the knife purchaseâmonths before the murdersâand whether that creates reasonable doubt or screams premeditation. Things get especially disturbing when the guys analyze that now-infamous thumbs-up bathroom selfie. What was it? A trophy? A signal to fellow incels? Or just a painfully awkward moment of bad lighting and worse judgment?
Could this single snapshot be what tips a jury toward the ultimate punishment?

Sean âDiddyâ Combs is no stranger to headlinesâbut this time, the stakes are far higher than a scandal. In this explosive episode, we break down the latest federal indictment that added new, disturbing charges to an already serious legal situation. The U.S. government has now alleged that Diddy used physical force, psychological control, and threats to coerce one of his own employees into sex acts. These charges go beyond bad behaviorâthey paint a picture of a system of abuse hidden behind music, money, and power.
We also dig into the sudden and dramatic collapse of a high-profile civil lawsuit that accused both Diddy and Jay-Z of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl back in 2000. That case was dismissed with prejudice, and it gave Diddyâs legal team exactly what they needed: a public win. But while Jay-Z walked away clean, Diddyâs attorneys turned the moment into a broader campaign to discredit the entire wave of lawsuits still active against him.
At the center of it all is Tony Buzbeeâthe high-profile attorney whoâs led the charge against Diddy with more than a dozen lawsuits and over 100 clients claiming abuse. But now Buzbeeâs under scrutiny himself, after being forced to withdraw from several federal cases due to court admission violations. In this episode, we follow every twist, every move, and what it means for the future of the case that could defineâor dismantleâDiddyâs legacy.

Karen Read 'It's Impossible For Me To Care' About Harassing Witnesses, Admits To Collusion With Leader Of Alleged Crimes
Could Karen Read have really been involved in a cover-up, or is this just another case of conspiracy theories running wild? When alcohol, unreliable memories, and a mysterious late-night incident collide, the truth gets harder to pin down. In this episode, Tony Brueski and psychotherapist Shavaun Scott dive deep into the murky details surrounding the alleged killing of John O'Keefe. Was it a tragic accident, or is there something far more sinister at play?
With shifting narratives, questionable recollections, and a blogger-turned-investigator stirring the pot, the case takes a bizarre turn. Readâs defense claims OâKeefe was beaten inside a house and then dumped outside, but does that theory hold any weight? And what happens when a small-town case turns into a full-blown media circus, fueled by leaks and an obsession with finding the "real" culprits?
And letâs not forget the unexpected twistâReadâs close relationship with a controversial blogger who allegedly went rogue, pushing theories and intimidating witnesses. Is this about justice, or has the case spiraled into something far more chaotic?
At the heart of it all, one question remains: what really happened to John OâKeefe that night?

Did Bryan Kohberger Just Lose His Last Defense?
Just when you thought the evidence pile couldn't get any taller, prosecutors drop a bombshellâBryan Kohberger allegedly purchased the exact knife used in the Idaho murders months before the killings. And thereâs a receipt to prove it. That pretty much takes the wind out of the âplanted evidenceâ argument, doesnât it?
Former prosecutor and defense attorney Eric Faddis joins Tony Brueski to break down just how devastating this revelation is for the defense. What does it mean for Kohbergerâs chances in court? Could his attorney even push for a plea deal at this point? And seriouslyâwhy would you bring a sharpener to a crime scene? The bizarre details just keep stacking up.
If you were Kohbergerâs defense team, what would you do next?

'There's Going To Be More' Ret FBI Coffindaffer On Damning New Evidence Against Kohberger
Could one haunting selfie reveal the twisted aftermath of an alleged killerâs crime?
As more evidence becomes public in the case against Bryan Kohberger, whatâs emerging is deeply unsettling. From an Amazon shopping history that allegedly includes a combat knife, sheath, and sharpener months before the Idaho student murders, to a post-crime selfie that shows a suspiciously content Kohberger in front of a showerâthis case keeps getting darker.
Retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer joins Tony Brueski to break down chilling new details, including why Kohberger may have brought a knife sharpener to the scene (yes, really), and how his methodical nature and disturbing post-crime behavior suggest a level of planning that's hard to ignore.
Could he have been preparing for more? Was that eerie photo taken just hours after the crime a modern-day trophy?
How much more disturbing is this going to get?

The Nurse, the Lie, and the $1.5 Million Motive
She told her patient she had terminal cancer. But she didnât. Then she injected her with insulin and sat by while she died.
This story out of Highland, Utah, doesnât need any dramatic buildupâitâs already that shocking. On August 12, 2024, a 911 call came in from a man named Mark Farnsworth. He told dispatchers his niece was unconscious, gasping for air like she was drowning, and that she had âmajor, major health issues.â Her name was Kacee Lyn Terry, 38 years old.
When police arrived at the home, they found Kacee unresponsive in a bedroom. She wasnât alone. Sitting right there next to her was 47-year-old Meggan Randall Sundwall, a registered nurse who claimed Kacee had been in that state for âa couple of hours.â She told officers that Kacee had terminal cancer and had signed a do-not-resuscitate order. She said Kacee didnât want to go to the hospital.
Sounds like a complicated end-of-life scenario, right? Except everything Sundwall said was a lie.
Kacee Terry never had cancer. There was no DNR. No power of attorney. No medical records backing up any of it. Her own primary care doctor confirmed it.
Letâs rewind.
Kacee was transported to Mountain Point Hospital and paramedics noticed something didnât add up. First, they found a diabetic needle near her. But Kacee wasnât diabetic. When they checked her blood sugar level, it came back at 14âdangerously low. Anything under 40 is considered life-threatening.
Doctors worked to stabilize her in the ICU, but the damage had already been done. Three days later, on August 15, Kacee was declared brain-dead and died.
When doctors asked the family about her medical history, Kaceeâs sister told them she had terminal cancer and had been dealing with it for four or five years. That's what she had been told. But then came the hard truth from Kaceeâs actual doctor: there had never been a cancer diagnosis. And when the autopsy results came back, it confirmed itâno cancer, no major health problems, nothing.
So where did this whole narrative come from?
Enter Meggan Sundwall.
Police started digging. They found a disturbing thread of over 28,000 texts between Meggan and Kacee, going all the way back to 2019. In these texts, Sundwall repeatedly talked about suicide, telling Kacee that if she were in her shoes, sheâd kill herself. She even allegedly offered to âhelpâ Kacee dieâframing it as a kind of mercy killing while casually mentioning how her death could solve her money issues.
Yeah. That kind of help.
Then investigators discovered that shortly after Kaceeâs death, Sundwall deleted over 900 messages from her phone and began searching for Kaceeâs life insurance policy. According to the police report, Sundwall believed she was the beneficiary of a $1.5 million policy on Kacee.
Letâs take a moment here: this wasnât a heat-of-the-moment thing. According to Kaceeâs family, theyâd suspected for years that Sundwall had been plotting something. And the evidence found in those text messages seems to suggest this wasnât some spontaneous actâit was calculated, groomed, and dragged out across years under the guise of friendship or caretaking.
When it was time to act, Sundwall allegedly administered a fatal dose of insulinâunprescribed, unauthorized, and ultimately lethalâand just sat there while her so-called friend slipped into a coma.
Police arrested Meggan Randall Sundwall on charges of first-degree aggravated murder and third-degree obstruction of justice. Sheâs now being held in Utah County Jail without bail.
Cold-blooded, deliberate, and allegedly driven by money. And all of it hidden behind a nurseâs badge and a fabricated cancer diagnosis.

"I Found Her Like That": Jailhouse Calls Expose Stephan Sterns' Shifting Story In Soto Case
STEPHAN STERNS: âI wish I had run downstairs and shaken her awake and called 911 and all that.â
That lineâstaggering in its simplicityâis one of the first real cracks in the story Stephan Sterns has told from the very beginning. It came during a jailhouse call with his parents, and it was a total deviation from what heâs claimed all along: that he dropped off 13-year-old Madeline Soto at school the morning of February 26, 2024, and never saw her again.
But now, months after his arrest, locked in the Osceola County jail and speaking a little too freely, Sterns admitted something hugeâhe found Madelineâs body. He was there. He saw her face, her blue lips. Her ice-cold skin.
His words were calm, almost rehearsed. Like he was recounting a scene in a book heâd read, not describing the death of a child he'd allegedly assaulted and murdered.
âShe had gone to be with me earlier in the night,â he told his father. âBut Iâd left her alone for quite a while... By the time I realized it was far too late... she was past the point of no return.â
Thatâs the first time Sterns has publicly acknowledged being in the same house with Madeline at the time of her death. Itâs also the first time heâs stopped pretending he wasnât.
In these four hours of recorded jail callsârecently obtained by Court TVâwe hear Sterns move from denial to vague admissions, surrounded by justifications, sidesteps, and increasingly disturbing commentary. Itâs like eavesdropping on a man who canât quite decide whether he wants to clear his name or just shift the blame somewhere more convenient.
The calls, made about three months after his arrest, are with his parentsâDebra and Chris Sterns. And while they start off as the kind of supportive, if awkward, chats youâd expect from shell-shocked parents trying to hold it together, they quickly devolve into something else: uncomfortable reminders of what Stephan Sterns is accused of.
When they bring up the digital evidenceâthe sexually explicit images of Madeline found on his phoneâhis response isnât what youâd expect from someone who claims innocence. When asked directly if heâs attracted to minors, he doesnât say no. He says he isnât âgenerallyâ attracted to them. He adds that he canât say more without incriminating himself.
Then he makes this chilling remark: that Madeline had âfeelingsâ for him. And that her mother, Jenn Soto, used to joke: âYou better not leave me for my daughter when sheâs older.â
Jenn Soto hasnât been charged with anything related to Madelineâs abuse or death. She says she didnât know it was happening. But she did allow her daughter to sleep in the same bed as Sterns, something sheâs admitted.
Sternsâ calls are full of odd priorities. While facing over 60 counts of sexual abuse, capital murder, and possession of child sexual abuse material, he spends a surprising amount of time venting about itchy blankets, bad coffee, and jailhouse ants. Heâs worried about the effects of jail on his skin. He complains about anxiety meds, wants better lotion for his worry lines, and he misses his collectible purple dragon popcorn bucket.
Heâs genuinely concerned about the whereabouts of his âmouse droidââa Star Wars-themed toyâand gets so irritated trying to explain what it is that he tells his parents to just âGoogle it.â
Then thereâs the coffee. Coffee is crucial.
âCoffee is very comforting,â he says. âEvery time I drink a cup of coffee it releases all types of happy chemicals in my brain.â
He asks for Michael Crichton novels, toiletries, hard candies. His mother draws the line at âPet Semataryâ because she didnât like the story.
The emotional whiplash in these calls is constantâone minute, Sterns is waxing poetic about the joys of instant coffee, and the next, heâs defending himself from the kind of charges that can end in a needle. His parents plead with him to read the Bible. He tells them heâs not a monster. He cries at movies. Heâs a good person, he insists.
âI know Iâm not bad, evil or a monster,â he says. âI couldnât have done it.â
But then, he admits: âMurder one is about as bad as it can get. And the death penalty is about as extreme as it can go.â
And a moment later: âI guess thatâs not so bad, right? You go to sleep, and then you go to heaven.â
Itâs the kind of thing you say when youâve already accepted whatâs coming.
Sternsâ legal journey is far from over. His first trialâfor the sex abuse chargesâis scheduled for May. The murder trial is set for September. Earlier this week, his defense team tried to get the judge to bar media and the public from pre-trial hearings, claiming that the coverage is prejudicial. The judge says a decision is coming within 10 days.
But with jailhouse calls like theseâwhere the defendant admits to finding the victimâs body, where he dances around horrifying evidence, and where his biggest concern is coffee and collectiblesâit may not be the press that paints the clearest picture of Stephan Sterns.

A 13-year-old boy faces murder charges for allegedly swerving a stolen car to kill a cyclist â a 63-year-old Sandia National Laboratory physicist on his morning bike ride â at the urging of two other boys, one of whom is only 11 years old and was reportedly waving a gun.
According to Albuquerque police, the deadly crash happened around 4:40 a.m. on May 29, 2022, near Moon Street and Atkinson Avenue. Investigators say the 13-year-old intentionally veered off the road and struck the cyclist, identified as 63-year-old Scott Dwight Habermehl, who was riding to work at Sandia.
A chilling video that surfaced on social media last month and was later obtained by police allegedly captures the moments leading to the impact. As the young driver prepared to ram the cyclist, a 15-year-old passenger can be heard saying âJust bump him, brah,â while the 11-year-old front-seat passenger waved a handgun and laughed. Authorities say the 13-year-old accelerated and hit Habermehl, killing him and then fleeing the scene.
Investigators initially struggled to solve the fatal hit-and-run until receiving an anonymous tip and discovering that the suspectsâ phones â seized from a separate investigation â contained video evidence. Police later identified the trio as 13-year-old Johnathan Overbay, 15-year-old William Garcia, and an 11-year-old boy who remains unnamed in official reports, though local media identified him as Messiah Hayes.
Overbay was apprehended Monday on charges that include murder, conspiracy to commit murder, leaving the scene of an accident involving great bodily harm or death, and unlawful possession of a handgun. Police continue to search for Garcia, who faces the same charges. The 11-year-old is too young to be charged with murder but remains under investigation for other possible offenses.
Habermehl had worked as a physicist at Sandia National Laboratory for nearly three decades. His family recalled his daily 25-mile bike commute, which he preferred to driving in traffic.
âThis case is an appalling and heartbreaking reminder of the serious juvenile crime crisis we face in New Mexico,â Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham said in a statement. âOur lack of tools to properly address it is tragic.â
Overbay has also been linked to other crimes prior to the deadly crash, including assault and breaking and entering, according to local reports. Police say the 11-year-old suspect likewise has a significant criminal history, involving alleged shootings and burglaries.
Charges for the 15-year-old suspect â who is still at large â and the possibility of either juvenile suspect being tried as an adult remain under review. According to the Interstate Commission for Juveniles, children as young as 14 can have their cases transferred to adult court.

Karen Read's Master Class In Narcissism And Lack Of Empathy For Anyone But Herself
What happens when an alleged crime, a controversial documentary, and a blogger with a God complex all collide in the middle of a snowstorm and a blackout memory?
In this chillingly bizarre look at the case surrounding the death of Boston police officer John OâKeefe, Tony Brueski and retired FBI Special Agent Robin Dreeke sift through the word salad, contradictions, and courtroom chaos that surround alleged killer Karen Read. From her hazy recollection of the night John died â somewhere between "Did I hit him?" and "I know I didnât" â to her overly casual tone discussing a manâs death, itâs hard to tell if weâre watching a defense or an audition for a reality show.
And if the facts weren't twisted enough, things get even messier when Karen admits to having regular contact with blogger Aidan Kearney (aka Turtleboy), whoâs been busy waging war on anyone who dares to question her innocence â from online harassment to stalking witnesses at their kidsâ lacrosse games. What could possibly go wrong when the court of law is competing with the court of public opinion... and a blogger with a fanbase?
Is this a genuine quest for justice or just one big narcissistic circus?

How Did Karen Read Attorney Alan Jackson NOT Get Booted Off The Case?
Did the Karen Read defense just dodge a total courtroom meltdownâor are we only seeing the calm before the storm?
In this wild ride of a courtroom update, Tony Brueski and defense attorney Bob Motta dive into the latest chaos swirling around the alleged Karen Read case. From surprise motions to a federal appeal that could potentially derail the whole trial timeline, things are getting real messy, real fast. Weâve got motions in limine flying, over 30 filings to sort through, and a last-minute push by the defense to hit the brakes on proceedings.
But the biggest eyebrow-raiser? Judge Canone called out alleged misrepresentations by Readâs own legal teamâdropping findings that could have torpedoed the defense if not for one critical moment: Karen Read herself doubling down on her faith in her attorneys, despite the court's scathing take.
Also, whatâs up with the judge subtly asking if another lawyer could take the lead... just in case?
So, are these just procedural growing painsâor is this defense team circling the drain?

Did Karen Read accidentally reverse into her boyfriendâor are we witnessing a full-blown masterclass in chaotic self-sabotage?
In this gripping deep-dive, retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer joins Tony Brueski to break down the Unsolved Mysteries episode covering the alleged murder involving Karen Read. What unfolds isn't just speculation on whether she hit Boston police officer John OâKeefeâbut a parade of contradictions, questionable decisions, and one wildly off-putting TV persona. From emotionless recountings of a dead boyfriend to wine-fueled contradictions and cozying up with a controversial blogger accused of witness intimidation, Readâs actions are raising more questions than answers.
Is it just wet brain, or is there a method to the madness? As Tony and Jennifer unpack the tangled web of alleged collusion, media manipulation, and unsettling courtroom behavior, youâll be left wondering: is Karen Read digging her own legal graveâor is this all part of some unhinged strategy to save herself?
And in the end... could Turtleboy actually be the one to sink her?

Karen Readâs Trial Isnât WaitingâFederal Judge Shuts Down Delay Bid
A federal judge just slammed the brakes on Karen Readâs latest attempt to delay her state trial, ruling that her ongoing appeal in federal court isn't a good enough reason to push back the proceedings. That means the clock keeps ticking toward April 1, when her second trial is set to begin in Dedham, Massachusetts.
Letâs break it down. Karen Read's legal team had asked for a nearly month-long delayâfrom April 1 to April 28âarguing that they shouldnât be picking a jury while her federal appeal is still unresolved. Why? Because that appeal could potentially drop two of the three charges she's facing: second-degree murder and leaving the scene of personal injury and death. If those charges get tossed, that obviously changes what the jury would be hearingâand the defense says they canât pick a fair panel until thatâs sorted.
But Judge Beverly Cannone wasnât buying it. She denied the request flat-out. Her reasoning? Jurors have already been summoned for duty starting April 1, and if theyâre seated by April 25, then maybeâmaybeâsheâll revisit the situation with Readâs attorneys. But until then, trial prep continues as scheduled. And itâs not just a handful of people showing up eitherâweâre talking 275 potential jurors per day being called in that week. Thatâs a small army.
Now, thatâs not the only courtroom drama happening around Read. There's also a new ruling allowing some of her private communications to become evidence in the trialâspecifically, her messages with blogger Aiden Kearney, better known online as âTurtleboy.â A judge has cleared the way for prosecutors to use certain photos, videos, and data from April to October 2023 that allegedly point to witness intimidation or attempts to influence the family members of witnesses.
That hearing had a bit of a scene, too. Special prosecutor Hank Brennan argued in favor of using the messages before Read even showed up. When she did, she sat down alongside Kearney and his lawyerâdefinitely not your typical courtroom seating chart.
Meanwhile, prosecutors are also digging into communications between Read and her own attorney, David Yannetti. Theyâve filed a motion asking the court to hand over their text messages exchanged between January 28 and February 2, 2022. Thatâs just days after Boston Police Officer John OâKeefeâReadâs boyfriend at the timeâwas found dead.
Why do they want those texts? Prosecutors argue that Read waived her attorney-client privilege, at least for that specific period, because she spoke publicly about those conversations. Theyâre pointing to her interviews with Vanity Fair, Boston Magazine, and her appearance in that recent HBO Max and ID docuseries as proof. Essentially, the state is saying: if youâre going to talk about it on camera, we get to look at the receipts.
To rewind for contextâKaren Read is a 45-year-old financial analyst who was living in Mansfield back in 2022. Sheâs accused of hitting OâKeefe with her SUV and leaving him in the snow to die outside a home in Canton. Sheâs pleaded not guilty to all charges: second-degree murder, leaving the scene of injury or death, and manslaughter while under the influence. Her first trial ended in July 2024 with a hung juryâno verdict either way.
Read will be back in court Tuesday at 11 a.m. for a pretrial hearing. Unless something dramatic changes, jury selection for her second trial begins April 1 at Norfolk Superior Court.

Gone Girls: The Long Island Serial Killer Docuseries Coming to Netflix
It took a terrified 911 call from a young woman named Shannan Gilbert to expose what had been hiding in plain sightâeleven sets of remains scattered along Gilgo Beach, the work of a serial killer who had eluded justice for decades.
In May 2010, Shannan disappeared after placing a frantic 22-minute call to 911, insisting that someone was trying to kill her. She ran through the quiet gated community of Oak Beach, banging on doors for help, before vanishing into the marshland. It wasnât just her sudden disappearance that rattled Suffolk Countyâit was what investigators stumbled upon during the search for her. In the thick brush off Ocean Parkway, police discovered a set of human remains. And then another. And another. By the time they were done, there were 11 victimsânine women, one toddler, and one man.
It was a horrifying find, but even worse, it begged a question: How did no one notice this sooner?
For years, the investigation dragged with no real traction. Families begged for answers. Reporters pressed. The public speculated. And all the while, Suffolk County PD maintained tight control over the case. But in the background, something else was quietly rottingâpolice leadership. Specifically, then-Police Chief James Burke, who was later convicted in a corruption scandal involving the beating of a handcuffed suspect and a massive coverup operation. That kind of mess didnât just tarnish reputationsâit likely delayed justice.
Fast-forward 13 years. On July 14, 2023, police arrested Rex Heuermann, a 59-year-old architect from Massapequa Park. He lived a seemingly ordinary life, commuting to Midtown Manhattan for work and returning home to a quiet suburban street. But authorities now say Heuermann is connected to at least seven of the victimsâand possibly more.
So how did they finally catch him?
The answer lies in a long-overdue task force that, within weeks of being formed in 2022 under new leadership, connected the dots that had been missedâor ignoredâfor over a decade. Cell phone data, burner phones, search history, and DNA evidence from pizza crustâyes, pizza crustâall pointed directly to Heuermann. Turns out, all of that evidence had been sitting in police files for years.
The new Netflix docuseries Gone Girls: The Long Island Serial Killer, directed by Liz Garbus, picks up where justice left off. Garbus doesnât just walk us through the crime scenesâshe drags the system into the light. Itâs raw, itâs personal, and it doesnât let the viewer look away.
Garbus is no stranger to this story. Back in 2020, she directed Lost Girls, a scripted film based on Robert Kolkerâs book, which centered on Mari Gilbertâs relentless fight for justice after her daughter Shannan vanished. After Heuermannâs arrest, actress Amy Ryanâwho portrayed Mari in the filmâtexted Garbus in shock: the suspect had once been in her apartment building. A literal brush with evil.
That eerie personal connection sent Garbus straight back to the families. She knew this story wasnât overâand it wasnât just about one killer. It was about how a system failed to care until a case landed on its front lawn.
The documentary doesnât hold back. It features first-person accounts from survivors and friends of the victims, including women who once worked in the sex trade and shared chilling stories about close calls with Heuermann. One woman, Taylor, tells the harrowing tale of being lured into a house where she believes someone else was trapped upstairs. Her story is laced with trauma, but also strength. She, and others like her, speak now because they couldnât before.
The first episode focuses heavily on Shannan Gilbert, and for good reason. Her case was the catalyst. Her 911 call was the moment that broke the dam. Unlike many of the other victims, Shannanâs disappearance came with undeniable evidenceâan actual recording of her begging for help. And even then, it took years for police to release that audio to the public. Without her, the Gilgo case might still be buried beneath the sand.
Episode 2 pivots to the corruption scandal. Burkeâs behavior didnât just stain the departmentâit made families feel invisible. It validated what victimsâ relatives had been saying all along: that their daughters werenât taken seriously. That police leadership didnât care. That sex workers could disappear without a ripple. And the fact that a fresh task forceâformed under a new district attorney and commandâwas able to identify a suspect in just six weeks? That speaks volumes.
Garbusâs documentary doesnât sensationalize. It humanizes. It lets us meet the women whose lives were lost, not just their mugshots. It invites viewers to understand how those in the sex industry looked out for one another in ways law enforcement didnât. Through Craigslist and cell phones, they created safety plans. They warned each other. They were resourceful, strong, and all too aware of the risks.
The show also pulls back the curtain on the man accused of being the Gilgo Beach killer. Heuermannâs professional life in architecture brought him into dozens of buildings, including some in Brooklynâright where Garbus and Amy Ryan live. People who worked with him now recount disturbing interactions: his unpredictable demeanor, inappropriate questions, and an unnerving fixation with true crime.
And then thereâs the timeline. Evidence used to charge Heuermann had been sitting there for years. DNA from one of the victimsâ burlap wrappings. Cell tower pings. A clue trail that shouldâve been followed long ago. But under Burkeâs leadership, the department was too busy protecting itself.
Gone Girls isnât just a true crime documentary. Itâs a blueprint of institutional failure, wrapped around a story of unthinkable violence. It shows us what happens when people in power ignore the cries of victims and dismiss entire communities as disposable.
It also reminds us what persistence looks like. Families who never gave up. Journalists who kept digging. And filmmakers like Garbus, who knew there was more to tellâeven when the headlines stopped coming.
