In this episode, the original Dad's meet up to play catch up! Dan has sadly gone through a break up and apparently was told he was missing ALL of the signs that it was happening. Meanwhile, he's owed a bit of money and maybe a hug or two.
While still looking for a full-time status in the job market, a trip to France for he and his daughter has long since been paid for so he makes the decision to go!
Jason struggles with finding the right time to bring the entire family together for Family Pictures. Because the last time this happened, things went over swimmingly, so why wouldn't they this time? That is IF he can get everyone together in the same block of time!

Friend of the show and long time contributing podcaster Grant aka The Kilted One returns to discuss turning 50 years old. He also shares his worries for sending his kids cross country alone for the week to stay with his parents and then shares more worries about them all returning to stay for a while to celebrate his 50th birthday. Grant is aware of some of his Mom's "adult choices" like drinking and smoking a little weed, but he's never had a conversation with his kids... and he doesn't warn them before they leave to go stay with her for a week.
This leads us to discuss bits about our upbringing, how different it was and how we each approch dealing with such situatuions as adults.
We also discuss whether it's awkward or not to have "The Sex Talk" with our children, the ease of finding p*rn and how kids are using that as a sexual template for thier own bedroom antics.
This among many side tangents, laughs and likely some personal judgements shared between each other as well!

This week I'm back with my girlfriend, Dr. Producer Kyle, to discuss a multitude of things happening in and around our lives. We start off with the big question of "How old is too old for a man to have a child?". This is response to Al Pacino, now in his 80's, fathering a child with his twenty-something year old girlfriend.
Kyle brings up her love of the Earth and climate, and I confess to having ready made silly questions loaded up and ready to fire at my friend and long time collaborator, Grant a.k.a. The Kilted One.
We also discuss a recent pregnancy scare that wasn't, but secretly was, unknown to us, for my children. We question whether we are the Black Sheep in our famalies, I question the purpose of podcasting for 15 years and whether I even have a legacy. Kyle encourages me to keep going and to keep writing, and I offer a scenerio where she may longer be supportive of those wild dreams upon placing eyes on a specific project.

On occassion my guest will resort to his old eating habits and shamefully eat from multiple fast food resturants in a single meal. After losing 100 pounds and living a much more healthier lifestyle, he still sometimes stuggles with his relationship with food. He also rarely admits when he goes off the rails. Well, he'll admit that he did, but most of the time he will promise to take to the grave what he actually eats when he does go on a bit of a binge. But not today. Today he opens up his mouth about opening up his mouth and pouring a shockingly amount of food into it.
My guest today is my former 7 Days a Geek cohost (who is currently back on the second mic for the 7 Days a Geek "Summer Series", he's known to all as Neighbor Cole.
In this episode, recorded shortly after he retired from podcasting and minutes after he and I left a local bar, we decide to return to the studio with a beer in one hand and lots of laughter into a microphone in the other.
We discuss such topics as:
-Watching your kid play school sports and coaching from the sidelines.
-Should you show your full rage before or after moving your girlfriend in?
-Missing the mic and just needing some time to get ones life in order. Rehab or something less serious?
-Podtoberfest 2020 blowout between Cole and Grant
-Flashback memory of early sexual discovery. Does peeing on a girl get her pregnant? Pleading the 5th is Neighbor Coles answer to this conversation.
-Seeking advice for Post Urination Drip
-Being embarrassed to admit how much you actually eat in one sitting. Getting multiple orders of takeout and eating and hiding some of it before returning home to have dinner with the family.
-Plans for the year such as home repairs and working on blending families. As well as finding the mental capacity to be creative once again.

Dan and Jay grab a big cup of coffee and sit down for a chat about fatherhood, dealing with family illness, loss and making the "Sex Talk" comfortable for both parent and child.
-
Grant returns to the show to answer one question, "What has changed in the way you view the job of parenting, over the years?"
Should you be completely hands on? Should you be their friend or their overlord? When exacatly can the beatings begin? Okay, that last one was just to see if you're reading this show discription!
We also discuss the last time we as parents exit a phase of our childrens adolecents and how we've handled that. We miss the younger, innocent, still in need of a parent years.
Having the sex talk. How much information do you give between biological and personal?

As a father of 5 kids, sometimes you've gotta look back at your own life to appreciate the way the future turned out. Sometimes when you do that, you might have to ridicule how easy it is you're kids now have it. In today's episode, Grant (TK1) my On Hiatus cohost, and cohost to countless podcasts that are also currently on hiatus, joins me to talk about these very things.
Would your kids recognize a VHS tape? Would they survive the time it takes to rewind a tape to play thier favorite song again? Could they even work a rotery phone? Remember having a pager but not being a drug dealer? How did you access P*rn for the first time?
We also discuss "Having the sex talk" with your teen. How to make it NOT awkward. How much personal knowledge should you bring into the discussion and forgetting to get to the biological part of the whole thing.

In the ongoing attempt to deconstruct Dad, A.K.A. The Angry Ginger, Producer Kyle PhD once again takes on cohosting duties.
Things discussed in this episode very from us taking Staycations to do some Home Improvements around the house. Being careful not to spend all of the money because we had 3 BIRTHDAYS to celebrate in the span of 2 weeks! Ginger then questions why won't his girlfriend ever dress up for him... even a lil bit?
Because that topic didn't kill him, we segway to another terrible topic but one that has become important in our family for multiple reasons, School Shootings. How do we talk to our kids about them and have we been able to comfort them in anyway?
In Shared Streaming or Infidelity, Ginger admits to not straying off the agreed digital watching landscape.
Show's we are currently watching and loving is easily one of the best shows ever created for all of the reasons, SHRINKING. Harrison Ford is dry, smart and funny! This show should be watched on a loop in every household!
Parks N Rec is our current pregame before the big sleep each night and when Kyle is in the right mood, we're catching up on The Last of Us.
Thanks so much for listening. Tune in each week for a brand new epsiode and don't forget to visit MonkeyPooStudios.com or DeconstructingDadBlog.com to read new entries each week!

I sit down with my long time cohost, Dan to discuss life, parenting and his recent health scare but before all of that he informs me that it's been a year since we last recorded. I can't believe it! We play a little catch up, even though we talk on occassion, there are still things we haven't been able to talk about. Like Dan's trip to the hospital. My trip to Disney with my daughter to go "Drinking Around the World" at Epcot.
We wrap up the show with a story about a child that uses his dads phone to play a videogame but soon after, Uber Eats begins to show up. Multiple times. With multiple orders! I'd have disowned the kid... forget just putting him to bed!!! When all was said and done, this father was down over $1,000 dollars!
As always, we love your faces, thank you so much for listening to this show. If you love the Deconstructing Dad podcast then perhaps you'll love the BLOG just as much! You can check it out over at MonkeyPooStudios.com or you can visit DeconstructingDadBlog.com where you can read the new blog entries and listen to every episode of this podcast!

Producer Kyle PhD joins Jay (sometimes refered to as The Angry Ginger) in this episode where they discuss the Good, the Bad, and The Ugly of thier first year living together. Some of the things discussed are summer vacations interupted, a couple of car crashes, a quick getaway to Vegas, too much roof damage for the insurance to cover, and recovering from an expensive Christmas.
We also try to solve the age old issue of Streaming Infidelity! Does your partner watch ahead of you? What are the rules? What should the rules be? When is it okay to break these rules?
We wrap up with a discussion about the new blog postings and an excerpt is read which gets these two lovebirds discussing a real life car accident that left Kyle with brain damage from which she will never recover from.
-
In this episode, Jay makes an impromtu call to an old cohost for a response to a draft of his new blog post. The review gets personal but it should convince anyone to read the blog...or not.
-
Kyle returns to the show as we continue our conversation that started with Part 1 which was previously released over the summer. Yes, it's been awhile. My apologies for my absences and for not being a very good podcaster.
I'm working on that... so in the meantime please enjoy the rest of a conversation I had months ago with my now live in girlfriend in which we discuss her past dating and sexual experinces in which I have perhaps more of a good time hearing about them than she did experincing them.
-
Cohost Dan sits this one out so my girlfriend. Ahem, excuse me. My now live-in girlfriend, can sit down on mic with and discuss dating after divorce and then dating me. We talk about the slow development from first date to denying we're dating to actually dating to "Hey, ya wanna move in with me and my FIVE kids!? You can bring yours along if ya like!"
Now that we're blending the family and trying to figure that out, there are lots of adjustments for the both of us. We share what some of those are all while drinking a little Apple Whiskey Truth Serum and having a few laughs!
-
Dad's and their riding lawn mowers... am I right? Dan has a new one and he's proud landscaper!
Ginger has officially begun to blend families.
Talks of travel sports, time for the parent over the child. Divorced and decision making around availablitiy is a real thing.
Ginger's daughter calls for a late night pick up. Dad's been drinking. To send and Uber or not?
We weight in on the School shootings and gun rights over kids right to ya know... live!
In our last story, we discuss a father who takes his daughter to the strip club, but he's not a bad father because he left her in the car!!
-
In this episode, Ginger scars his son, whom he thought was sleeping in the backseat, but apparently was wide awake and getting a life lesson from an Eminem Song. Dan becomes a Home Depot-Set Building-Theater Dad. We read about a mother who gets pulled over for drunk driving but denies ever having a drink... until her frightened unbuckled young son tells the truth from the backseat.
We also share a Top 10 list of Hardships we've had as single fathers.
-
In this thought to be lost forever pre-christmas episode, Dan and Ginger discuss the holidays and upcoming plans, the adorble cutness of childrens school christmas concerts and how that wears off. Dan also looks back at a time in his youth when he was part of a championship football team and contemplates making a documentary... once he comes into some money that is.
-
In this ep, the great and powerful dads return to discuss one tik tok-er's unique way of living unblended while another one demands that all men in basements get their microphones revoked!
Dan has had it up to hear with parents weaponizing their children. Off with the dead beat dad's heads.
Ginger's health has taken a surprising turn. Two words, "Heart Attack"? Maybe it's not that bad? Maybe he's in denial?
Let us know!

Wrapping up our second day of Podtoberfest. The final hour and half of it all, The Maier's (Chris and Kristen), from How Was Your Week Honey join us to not really discuss parenting as much as we discuss things because we are parents.
-
In what starts out as a great weekend for Ginger, a surprise birthday party, attending a post pandemic concert (is it post?), and family photo's, suddenly turns into one bad thing after another! One kid takes a trip to the hospital, another gets in a bad car wreck while another decided Covid is what the house was missing. All of this and sooooo much more.
Dan finally lands a beauty and feels blessed. We discuss how odd it is to be with someone that's actually supportive and that darn Elf on the shelf gets brought up, so does a family vacation and we wrap things up with Dan's kid struggling with his decision to sell the family home for a home without a breeze because of better insulation and of course a better school district.
