This week I’m chatting with Cat Googe about…JOY! And how she has learnt to unapologetically and seamlessly weave joy into her experience of life, business and motherhood as well as into the lives of so many others who have come into her orbit (myself included!)
Cat - who calls herself The Joy Queen - is super passionate about teaching people how to intentionally bring joy into our everyday instead of waiting for it to happen to us - and she loves to facilitate this through her unique blend of laughter yoga, reiki and NLP through 1-2-1 work, in her membership The Inner Joy Circle as well at events and festivals.
Joy is something that so many women I work with feel a disconnect with, especially since having kids when overwhelm, exhaustion and a fractured sense of self can have a tendency to take over.
But doing life without the presence of true and authentic joy for ourselves can make the journey of raising kids feel pretty deflating and and during this conversation I explore with Cat how we can learn to reclaim our joy EVEN when life feels heavy and full, and reframe our joy into something we can all access every day of our lives.
During this episode Car shares:
How challenges in her earlier life heavily influenced her own joy journeyHow her re-education and re-learning around her relationship with joy has impacted the trajectory of her lifeAnd she imparts invaluable wisdom about how to re-frame and re-connect with YOUR own sense of joyFIND OUT MORE ABOUT CAT GOOGE:

Most Mums I speak to know the feeling of the 'Invisible Maternal Load' all too well - and yet often they feel the weight of it before they truly understand what it is.
At times, it can feel utterly inescapable for us as Mums where we feel so weighed down by the never-ending ticker tape of mental, emotional and domestic responsibilities we're wading through, day in day out.
A load that they often feel nobody else in the family truly understands, recognises or appreciates.
But while feeling utterly overwhelmed by all of the to-dos and needs whirling round our heads - we can also simultaneously resign ourselves to believing that this is just how Motherhood is.
Subsequently leaving us feeling EVEN more frustrated, unfulfilled, stuck - and even resentful - which isn't ever going to be any good for anyone.
BUT HERE'S THE THING: that belief you're holding onto is BULLSH*T and there is 100% another way!
And I want you to know that it is absolutely possible for us to break free from the draining, disempowering shackles of this invisible maternal load - and feel a whole lot lighter, more liberated and empowered in ourselves and how we show up in our daily lives.
But first we need to understand the often unspoken intricacies of this 'invisible maternal load' phenomenon so we can tackle it head on!
And during this episode I hope to help enlighten you on this topic, so you can start making those important first moves to lightening that load for yourself.
During this episode I explain:
- What the 'Invisible Maternal Load' is
- The often unspoken reasons WHY so many Mums are affected by it
- A fresh perspective to adopt around the your relationship with the 'Invisible Maternal Load'
- How to start breaking free from it's power, and do things differently

In this new episode I chat with Emma Benyon about how Motherhood invited her to re-define what self-care looked and felt like for her - in a way that subsequently supported her to unapologetically 'do her thing' across all parts of her life.
Emma is a Business Coach for busy mums, a Self Care Expert and Educator supporting mums who are juggling the school run and growing a business. And through her work she provides women with the tools to build their business their way minus the guilt and burnout - so they can do motherhood and business with ease, flexibility and simplicity.
There are so many synergies in the work Emma and I do - so this conversation represented a beautiful meeting of aligned minds, FULL of juicy insights and discussion around the topic of self-care for Mums.
The term ‘self-care’ is banded around a huge amount these days and it can mean many different things to each and every one of us.
And during this conversation I loved hearing Emma’s unique perspective on self care which she has applied to her own day to day life, walking the walk to ensure that her version of self-care sits at the heart of everything she does.
PLUS she uses her expertise and experience to support mums to take care of themselves and prioritise their own needs as both individuals and business owners.

This week I’m sharing another fab convo from my Instagram live archives with digital wellbeing coach, culture trainer and speaker Sam Flynn about navigating parenthood in a digital world.
Technology is almost unavoidable in today's day and age – and can have a really profound (often negative) impact on us, as individuals and as parents.
I certainly find that technology (especially my iPhone) can make raising kids quite stressful and it has had quite a profound impact on my mental health at times too. So I was eagerly soaking up all of Sam’s wisdom!!
During this conversation Sam shares how her own addiction to her smartphone and research into why this happens helped her to establish a more positive way of incorporating technology into her home life
PLUS how her background in Organisational Psychology led her into a career as a digital wellbeing coach working with individuals, businesses and schools to manage their relationship with the digital world to promote positive use, rather than causing a negative impact on their lives.
During this episode Sam imparts some invaluable and highly accessible tips and insights that really highlight why creating and embedding these new habits is so important - for our own wellbeing as well as our kids.

This week I'm bringing you a powerful conversation I had with Emily Hughes about a big but often unspoken topic in Motherhood: SHAME
Emily is a Conscious Parenting Coach and founder of Finding Flow Parenting where she empowers parents to stay centred and grounded, and helps unearth the patterns and limiting beliefs keeping them stuck. Emily is also trained in Somatics and subsequently a big believer in brain body parenting and parenting in tune with all the nervous systems in the household.
During this episode, Emily shares invaluable insights around WHY so many women find themselves struck down by shame during Motherhood, and tells her own story with so much openness and honesty during about how she experienced profound shame when she became a Mum - and the impact that had on her self-esteem, relationships and sense of identity as a whole.
Emily goes on to shares the healing journey she went on in order to face, process and overcome her deep-rooted shame by cultivating what she describes as "Shame Resilience", which forms a core focus of her work, and she generously guides listeners to become more shame resilient themselves so they can ultimately live more authentic and joyful lives alongside raising their kids.
I really hope this episode helps normalise some of these deeply uncomfortable feelings that can so commonly come up during Motherhood - because the more we talk about them, the less alone we'll all feel.

Today I'm talking to Michaela Thomas all about the journey she went on to embrace true and all-encompassing self-acceptance - and in her own words, how she has come to accept “that while she’s not everyone’s cup of tea, she IS someone’s tea party"
Michaela is a Clinical Psychologist, coach, speaker, founder of the psychology practice The Thomas Connection and author of The Lasting Connection.
Michaela specialises in the intersection between perfectionism and ADHD, and through her work she helps ambitious female leaders with ADHD burn bright without burning out, finding sustainable success using her Pause Purpose Play framework in group coaching, therapy and speaking.
During this fascinating conversation, Michaela shares the impact that her late ADHD diagnosis had on her journey - personally, professionally and in Motherhood.
She explains how her NOT knowing about her own neurodivergence had previously created all sorts of stress and chaos in her life and sense of self.
But as soon as this missing piece of the puzzle was revealed she felt the freedom to drop the mask and claim FULL and unapologetic ownership over her WHOLE life and self.
Michaela subsequently stands as a beacon to inspire other neurodivergent female leaders to do THEIR thing authentically, loudly and proudly as themselves and I’m sure you’ll agree that the way her contagious energy and passion radiates out of this conversation undeniably reinfoirces what a brilliant champion she must be for her lucky clients and community.

THE PODCAST IS BACK - at a very momentous moment for me!
Because exactly five years ago this week, I resigned from my longstanding marketing career - which marked the start of MY epic next chapter, after having my kids.
I've been reflecting a lot on the journey I went on that led me to feeling clear enough - brave enough - confident enough to take that leap.
And probably uncoincidentally, I've realised just how many parallells there are between the journey I went on personally, and the journey I have guided so many Mums on to support THEM to step through The Gateway into the next phase of THEIR lives as well.
I know that so many of YOU are currently considering how to make some well-needed changes in your lives alongside Motherhood - and perhaps feeling all kinds of 'stuck' trying to get off that starting block.
So I thought I'd use this episode as an opportunity to share some more detail around the process that I went through.
Including the highs, the lows, the lessons and mistakes I made along the way - that enabled me to bridge the seemingly 'shark-infested' gap between feeling frustrated, fed up and unfulfilled in my life and career....and stepping into a life that felt and continues to feel joyfully and unapologetically like ME!
You can also find out about my brand NEW signature coaching & mentorship programme for Mums - The Gateway - which is currently open for enrolment (with a tasty early bird discount attached!) which will provide you with ALL the support you need to unlock YOUR truth and get living YOUR next epic chapter, beyond Motherhood.
If I can do it, you sure as hell can do it too!!! And you don't have to do it alone xx

How well connected (if at all) do you feel to your future self?
In this solo episode, I delve into the concept of connecting with your future self (we all have one btw!!) and explore why it's such a powerful tool for making positive, motivating and intentional choices in the present.
For many of us, especially during significant transitions like motherhood, it can be challenging to envision our future selves. She can feel like a total stranger to us!
But by bridging that gap, we can pave the way for a more fulfilling and intentional life.
In this solo episode, I share 3 practical approaches to help you start building a stronger relationship with your future self - today - and how these can make a massive difference to how you show up in the present and lay some really solid and intentional stepping stones for your future life and self.

** TRIGGER WARNING ** This conversation contains discussion around traumatic experiences had while trying to conceive, touching on the topics of miscarriage, PTSD, IVF and ectopic pregnancies. Please prioritise looking after your mental and emotional wellbeing as a priority before listening to this episode.
Todays episode is being released on 25th July 2024 which is World IVF Day - and I can’t think of a better moment to bring this important conversation to the forefront.
My guest, Jen Elworthy, works as a career and fertility coach and expert on a mission to support women to navigate work alongside fertility challenges & treatment AND help companies understand why and how to be fertility-friendly, so they can attract and retain top talent.
During this episode Jen shares her own difficult fertility story with so much openness and honesty - explaining how her experiences profoundly affected her sense of identity as a Mother once her son was born via IVF, as well as her ability to truly enjoy Motherhood despite having longed for it for so long.
Alongside the inevitable difficulties, Jen also shares so many beautiful insights, survival techniques and lessons that these experiences brought into her life.
This is a vulnerable, emotional and powerful conversation which I’m so grateful to Jen for having with me. And I hope her words will offer hope and strength to anyone navigating their own fertility challenges right now, or to help you feel better resourced to support your loved ones who may be struggling.

In this episode I'm talking all about the importance of investing in yourself and why it is, in fact, a very powerful act of self care.
We don’t tend to over-think investing in our children, do we? As Mums we channel so much of our time, headspace and love into our kids and families to support their development, health, happiness and wellbeing.
But too often our own deeper needs and aspirations get buried under a pile of laundry or fall to the bottom of the to-do list, because everything else is seemingly way more urgent!
BUT, when we don’t prioritise or invest in ourselves it can ultimately work against us, and we can feel trapped in our life rather than in charge of it.
So, it is really important that we find ways to continually champion and invest in ourselves as individuals, as well as parents.
Investing in ourselves is not selfish and doesn't have to involve pots of cash either!
It is, in fact, a very powerful act of self care. And during this episode I'll share a variety of powerful, accessible and cost effective (or free!!) ways that will help you prioritise yourself, honour your deeper needs and that will enable you to feel seen and show up as your happiest and most fulfilled selves.
Becasue you're worth it ;-)

During this episode I talk to Helen Cammack about how the act of purposefully planning her experience of parenthood ahead of time has had a profound impact on how she does her thing in her life in life and Motherhoodd.
After a successful corporate career and several start-up businesses, becoming a parent nearly didn't happen for Helen because she just couldn't see past the challenges of parenthood, and couldn't figure out how it would work for her.
Helen was anxious about becoming a parent for many years, until she finally overcame that anxiety with the planning and preparation required as part of the adoption process.
And when she finally adopted her two children when she was nearly 43 she felt ready to embrace parenthood, her way, and her anxiety dissipated.
7 years later, Helen is now the founder of Preparental.com, a business to help all future parents (not just adopters) with their practical planning and preparation for being parents
Whether you’re a natural planner or not, this episode offers so much food for thought around the power of approaching life as a parent with our eyes and minds wide open.
Because, as Helen so beautifully shares in this episode, she believes that planning and preparing your life - not just your body - for parenthood, enables parents to be more confident, purposeful, aligned and intentional, and much more likely to enjoy the parenthood ride in our own unique and ownable ways.

This episode of Do Your Thing is another gorgeous conversation from my Instagram live archives where I spoke to Tricia Murray all about about navigating anxiety as a parent.
Tricia is a Mum of 4 boys, and she is also a Mind Coach and Business Mentor, helping anxious, stressed and frazzled women find calm and ease in their lives and businesses.
As well as supporting women with anxiety Tricia has also been on her own anxiety journey, only realising in her 30’s that what she had experienced throughout her life WAS actually anxiety. It was only when Tricia was well into Motherhood that she really began to understand and take back control of her anxiety - and in turn also support hundreds of other women to do the same.
Anxiety is a topic that I know will be relevant to so many of us (myself included) and parenthood can be a real trigger as well as a powerful motivation to support ourselves. And during this conversation Tricia talks so insightfully about the topic armed with a huge amount of both personal and professional wisdom, experience and empathy.
I really this episode provides you with some support, solidarity and suggestions to help you realise you CAN take back control over your difficult thoughts and feelings, and that your anxiety doesnt need to define you or your experience of Motherhood.
(NB: please excuse a few recording and sound imperfections on this episode, part of which was originally recorded as an Instagram live rather than using a professional podcast setup. I've managed to let it go - so I hope you can too! ;-) )

Summer Hols…incoming! 😬
I've navigated a fair few school holidays by now - and I've experienced alllll the fizzy ups and the frazzling downs that come with that.
But the one thing I've learnt (and desperately try to remember!) is that getting ahead of the game and making some sort of intentional plan for the Summer (versus diving in blindly and hoping for the best) really DOES make a massive difference to the experience for EVERYONE!
This current pre-holiday window can be CRITICAL when it comes to harnessing a positive mindset (and being acle to ACTUALLY enjoy myself!) over the school holidays...
We COULD spend the next few weeks stressing about the holidays before they've even started…
But I can pretty much guarantee that strategy will a) fill you with dread for the summer and b) start the holidays stuck in a negative and stressed out headspace. And who is that really going to serve?
So I hope this podcast episode offers you a few juicy tips to help you get ahead on the Summer hols curve, regain a sense of positivity and control over your upcoming summer holidays and find a way for the summer holidays to work for EVERYONE in your family, you INCLUDED!PLUS find out about my AWESOME new Summer coaching offer: SERIOUS ABOUT SEPTEMBER which will help you navigate the Summer stretch feeling fully supported so you can both enjoy the holidays with your kids, AND start September STRONG in your own right!

** TRIGGER WARNING ** This conversation contains discussion around Trauma during and after giving birth, as well as my guest's experience of PTSD. Please prioritise looking after your mental and emotional wellbeing as a priority before listening to this episode.
It was a pleasure to welcome Caroline Marshall to the pod, who is a Mum of 2 boys, the founder of a multi award winning Virtual Assistant Agency Upsource and podcast host of the show ‘Bump to Business owner’.
In this episode Caroline shares how she coped and adapted following a series of unexpected curveballs in her life and career, culminating with the most shocking and unexpected eventuality of all when her second child suddenly became seriously unwell immediately after he was born, requiring a prolonged stay in NICU (the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) in the middle of the pandemic.
Thankfully Caroline’s son made a full recovery. But, this Traumatic event and experience as a NICU Mum has understandably had a profound effect on Caroline’s outlook on the world, mental health and how she has subsequently gone on to 'do her thing' in life, business, relationships and motherhood.
During our conversation Caroline bravely shares the details of this life-changing experience, including the steps she took to grieve, process, adapt and heal following her Trauma.
And the space we created also gave me permission to share the details of my own difficult birth experience with my first child, which also involved a stay in NICU, and which I only began processing in the last couple years.
This is a vulnerable and powerful conversation which I’m so grateful to Caroline for having with me. And I hope her words offer hope and strength to anyone navigating the aftermath of their own traumatic experience right now, and help listeners feel better resourced to support loved ones who may be struggling.

"Anger is the guardian of sadness and other emotions"
These words played a pivotal role in how I understand and deal with my own big feelings that show up as rage in my life.
And in this episode I wanted to share some more background to this transformational concept, in the hope that it supports you to work through your own big emotions that may rear their heads (and make a whole big mess!) while on your Motherhood journey.
Rage in motherhood is so very real for so many of us - so many of my clients and friends tell me how they really struggle to keep a handle on their angry reactions and outbursts, especially since becoming a Mum.
‘Doing Your Thing’ can also feel so much harder when we are blinded by such overpowering emotions.
So I hope this short podcast episode helps to both normalise the big feelings you may be experiencing in Motherhood, and helps you show yourself some more compassion and feel more supported and resourced in yourself when the red mist swoops on in.

During this episode I talk to Jo Permaul all about the role that natural medicine has played in how she's raised her kids and lived her life.
Jo has 2 grown up kids (aged 18 and 21), she is the Director of coaching school 'Wellness Professionals At Work' PLUS she is also a trained Homeopath, Life Coach and a qualified teacher.
During this conversation Jo shares how her own childhood health struggles (which came with an inability to find an adequate remedy via conventional medicine) introduced her to the world of homeopathy, which later down the line also motivated her to raise her family using natural health and wellness remedies and techniques.
What I found especially refreshing was that Jo is not ANTI conventional medicine at all – but rather she is PRO choice, and has learnt how to intuitively integrate conventional medicine into her own natural approach.
This episode is a beautiful lesson in trusting your gut instincts, championing open communication with your kids about how they are feeling and cultivating a sense of empowerment when it comes to taking responsibity for our own health and wellbeing.
It inspired me to seek out support from a homeopath - and I hope it offers you you some valuable food for thought too.

Here's another wonderful episode from my Insta live archives, where I spoke to Lindsay Dalton about how she does her thing by being deeply tuned into her menstrual cycle.
Lindsay is a holistic menstrual cycle & feminine embodiment coach and a doula, who has supported women for over 10 years to reclaim their power over their feminine energy. And in this episode we discuss how Lindsay uses her menstrual cycle understanding to guide her energetically and intuitively through life, business and parenthood.
As women, our menstrual cycle can often feel like anything but magic. Having periods can feel disruptive, inconvenient and often down right unpleasant to live with.
But in this conversation, Lindsay shares how connecting to the wisdom of her cycle has supported her to feel empowered by this part of being a woman, and how her knowledge has not only helped her to regain control over her experience of life but also support other women who are struggling to do the same.
And I hope this conversation will offer a fresh perspective to you too!
(NB: please excuse a few recording and sound imperfections on this episode, part of which was originally recorded as an Instagram live rather than using a professional podcast setup. I've managed to let it go - so I hope you can too! ;-) )

Have you found it harder to tune into YOUR right decisions since becoming a parent?
I definitely experienced a huge amount of tiring indecision when I became a Mum, and at times found it almost impossible at times to reconcile certain choices for myself and my life - in case I made the wrong one!
And this is something that my podcast guest this week, Sarah Billingham, found really challenging to navigate when she became a parent, which she talks about in detail in this highly relatable episode.
Sarah is a Mum of 2, a specialist speech and language therapist, the founder of her business Confident Kids and the host of her own brilliant podcast called Raising Confident Kids with SEN - and through her work Sarah equips parents, carers and practitioners with expert knowledge and tools to support children with Special educational needs.
Despite having always carved out her own path with relative ease pre-kids, Sarah shares the strong internal conflict she experienced after becoming a parent which subsequently invited her to challenge and re-construct the way she made choices for herself, her family and her professional future.
But that process was far from straightforward and through this chat Sarah shares the powerful journey she has been on, learning to navigate the loud internal debating and deliberating inside her head in order to Do Her Thing in life and parenthood with so much more confidence and conviction.

Oh heyyyy!! It's been a hot minute since I've been in your ears hasn't it?!
But I'm back (yey!) and diving straight back in with some solo time at the mic to share some of the big thinking I've been doing while on my podcast break!
And in this episode I'm talking about what I feel is one of my biggest passion points in the work I do:
HOW MOTHERHOOD HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE YOUR BIGGEST & MOST BEAUTIFUL OPPORTUNITY YET (if you give yourself the space and permission to see it!!)
It's so easy to get really bogged down in the hard bits of Motherhood (which are undeniably very much there to contend with, no toxic positivity over here!)
BUT I also believe that Motherhood is very much a tale of two very very important halves.
And amidst the tough stuff there are also so many rewarding, fun, fulfilling, joyful opportunities, gifts and possibilities available to us, which can provide a powerful counterbalance to the hard stuff.
So, in this episode I dig into this outlook in more detaIl, and I share:
Why I believe we so easily get bogged down in the tough bits of MotherhoodThe perspective shift that helps me navigate through my hard Mum moments, which I hope will also support you to do the sameA simple but powerful strategy that you can put into practice TODAY to help you connect with the opportunities available to YOU as a MumABOUT YOUR PODCAST HOST, TAMSIN WILLIAMSON:

My last episode for a month or so (I'm taking a pod break in April) where I share my reflections post being struck down by the lurgy over the last couple of weeks.
I unpack how my choice to clear the decks and come back to MYSELF has reminded me how essential it is to choose OURSELVES as Mums.
NOT just when the sh*t hits the fan or you're teetering on the edge of burnout, but in day to day life on an ongoing basis.
In this episode I explain why abandoning our own wants, needs and wellbeing as Mums is no good for anybody (especially you), however profoundly our guilt might strike or however ingrained our people pleasing habits might be.
And I share 3 mega important reasons why I believe you NEED to start choosing YOURSELF more often, if you want to truly feel the courage and confidence to do your thing in life, parenthood and everything in between.
Do drop me an email to let me know how you get on with this at [email protected] - I'd love to hear your reflections!
And I can't wait to reconnect in May with another wonderful collection of podcast episodes after I take a well-needed (and deserved) moment to pause.
