It turns out Lindz was the perfect candidate for such a task, and their date sparked with poetic connections and shared idols. Neither wanted this one special night to be the only night, so defying friends’ expectations Zebib hopped on a plane to spend more time with Lindz, and the pair laid the foundations for their long-distance relationship.

  • Maria knew how to play the online dating game, while Oliver had no suitable photos, and very little experience of ‘the rules’. She thought he was too keen; he thought they wouldn’t gel in real life. But, as the rain poured around their first date bubble, they lost themselves in easy conversation, and a subtle move from Oliver shifted the atmosphere from friendly to romantic.

In this special edition of Equal Parts, our host shares her own relationship story.

  • Alex was Shell’s boss, but she didn’t realise it at first. Lucky he was so easy-going; not only did he laugh off their first combative interaction, but that same playfulness sparked the start of their relationship. Envious colleagues and wary parents couldn’t dissuade this couple from progressing, and sixteen years later, they’ve proven that young love can indeed be true love.

Each episode of Equal Parts is turned into an illustration by a different artist. This week’s piece is by Eleanor Hardiman, who made one specific item from Shell & Alex’s story larger than life. Look for #EqualPartsPodcast to find it on socials, or visit www.equalpartspodcast.co.uk/artwork to see this piece, and all the art for the show.

  • Amaka and Toby were always in each others lives, but never saw anything more than friendship. That is, until a meddling brother and their strong shared faith planted the seed of possibility. Finally accepting what she thought was an innocent holiday invitation to Denmark, Amaka had no idea that Toby had a much more serious purpose for her trip.
