Every step Mr. Trump has taken in the realm of policy dynamics has sent a shockwave for both enemies and allies. From notoriously withdrawing for Green New Deal to claiming Greenland, the second Trump Administration kept everyone on their tiptoe and proves to be challenging for all the policymakers.

The Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, starts on the 29th of January, and official holidays will last until February 4th. In 2024, approximately 9 billion trips were made across the country during the 40-day period from January 14 to February 22. This is why the Spring Festival travel rush, known as "chunyun", is recognized as the world's largest annual mass migration.
This year, 2025, is symbolized by the snake, a creature associated with transformation, renewal, and spiritual growth in Chinese mythology. In this episode of the European Guanxi Podcast, we will explore the economic and cultural significance of Chinese New Year with Dr. Martin Šebeňa .
This podcast is produced by Shristi More and hosted by Alixia Brule.

Welcome back to the European Guanxi podcast. A new podcast produced by European Guanxi - a network of European scholars, students and professionals coming together on a platform of debate, discussion and analysis of EU and China relations.

But what are these police stations and why have they been developed?
On our fourth episode, we will be welcoming Chu Shuyu a China Law and Policy Fellow at the Georgetown Center for Asian Law in Washington D.C. and Ph.D. researcher of Michigan university. She focused on China´s overseas extraterritorial jurisdiction operations, and she will further explain the role of police stations overseas, sharing with us her most recent findings.

Welcome back to the European Guanxi podcast. A new podcast produced by European Guanxi - a network of European scholars, students and professionals coming together on a platform of debate, discussion and analysis of EU and China relations.
On our third episode, we will be welcoming an amazing journalist and author, Noah Barkin, who will provide us with more clarity on EU-China relations, and more specifically the nature and importance of Sino-German relations.
In the last few years we have seen Western governments adopting an increasingly defiant position regarding China, be it on issues relating to national security, economic competition or human rights issues. Worldwide, the narrative of engagement with China is undergoing a monumental shift. The emergence of these complaints mark an indisputable shift in government priorities, yet there is still little uniform action being taken, with many tensions and disagreements between parties, as is the case in Germany, and also within the E.U. where different national interests prevent the adoption of a coherent and common China strategy.
Germany's current government is divided over the reframing of its relationship with China, but it ultimately has to make do with the new realities of very little space for close political engagement with China.
The EU now pursues a "derisking" approach which puts national security and the diversification of resources at the top of the agenda.
Noah Barkin has made clear that Sino-German relations and, by implication, EU-China relations are no longer primarily defined by economic interests but also by normative and value-based considerations.
We would love to know what your opinions are on Sino-Eu relations and, in particular the Sino-German relations, do you agree with Noah Barkin?
Let us know in our social media!
Thank you for tuning in to our European Guanxi Podcast. We hope you enjoyed today's episode!
