  • Suezette Smit is a global leadership coach, an inspirational speaker and an author. It was a pleasure being a guest on her radio show "Vroue wat Voorloop" - "Women on the Move", aired on Radio Klein Karoo.

In this hour of meaningful conversation, we speak about the poignant issues of life, faith, love, loss, the world of business, creativity, and inspiration and it is interspersed with pieces of music that will uplift and inspire you.

  • In the words of my guest, Wes Boshoff, "For far too long we have given our destinations and our decisions and largely, our lives to others. During the course of our lives, we are both passengers and pilots." So what then drives the decision to make the transition from one to the other?

Listen to this impactful podcast for inspiration to be in command of the controls of your life with God as your Pilot. Wes overflows with gems for life-change, redirection and he talks about how to view crises in your life as events. We all go through them. Not everyone has a sure landing. This conversation aligns with my book content, Turn It Around. It is possible to turn around, find a new flight path and reach new altitudes.

Enjoy a few of Wes' life quotes...

Purpose is not safe, but living without it is dangerous.

Today might not be "a win", but it is an audition for tomorrow's success.

It may be a shot in the dark, but that is the best way to see fireworks.

Give energy to courage, give focus to attention, and give yourself to your purpose.

Urgency over accuracy can end up taking longer.

We can live under rules, or we can rise to standards.

I mention on the podcast that Corien wrote the foreword to my book "Turn It Around". Here is a glimpse into her journey.

BY A TRAVELLER WHO CHOSE TO TAKE THE HIGHER ROAD IN LIFE...

I’ve realized that to turn your life around is a process; sometimes a long one. Whether it is a desire for transformation or an area of trouble or doubt, there is a process that you must undergo to change your perception. It definitely does not happen at first thought or overnight. For change to be permanent, you have to revolutionize the way you think. Old habits that may have worked through some stages of your life have to be replaced with new ones. It is indeed a renewal of the mind.

To form those new pathways in the brain is a daily choice. If you are willing to brave the wilderness and walk through the desert on this one, the reward will far surpass your effort. Forming new pathways creates the opportunity to believe that what may have been viewed as impossible is now possible. The process is partly challenging your own belief patterns to such an extent that you can know that what was impossible before now seems within reach, even though everything in your everyday world is screaming out that you must be crazy.

I had to fight many giants in my own neural pathways to renew my mind and create new corridors of thinking. Somewhere in all my frustration, tears and failures, there were days of breakthrough and victory. The journey demanded that I turn my perceptions around and correct my perspectives. I learned that perception is looking at a situation through man’s eyes. Therefore it is subject to change. Perspective, however, is looking at a situation through God’s eyes, and with Him, there is no shadow of turning.

Perception may seem right for us at the time, but there is always the risk of blind spots (or scotomas) keeping us from the truth. Perception can keep things hidden from you, such as truths or insights that have not been explored or that are not part of your current reality. God’s perspective changes blind spots into light spots if you adapt your mind and heart to see God’s view as the truth, instead of focusing on your own perception, you will soon have insights revealed to you. You will recognize how unfounded lies have misshaped and distorted your world.

  • PODCAST INTERVIEW WITH NIKKI BUSH - Award-winning Speaker and best-selling Author.

If you have a pulse you have a purpose. I just love this line from my podcast guest this week, Angelique du Toit. So what is your purpose, regardless of what you have been through in your life; what keeps you here and keeps you going?

In this episode, you will hear that fear is a force that you can either confront or run away from. You will be challenged about whether you are operating from inspiration or desperation, that you have to be in it to win it and you have to make a choice to make a change.

Angelique du Toit is a global speaker who has travelled the ups and downs of life and shares her wisdom and insights with such eloquence. She entered the world of work at the age of 14 as an apprentice hairdresser, out of necessity, coming from a background of abuse. She describes some of her crossroad moments in which she chose to do life differently, pulling her back from the brink of despair.

After her husband's sudden passing at the end of 2019, Angelique's carefully planned reality came crashing down. She was registering his death in Italy in early 2020 when the global pandemic lockdown came into force. She spent most of that year isolated and grieving alone. Her mantra, that I remember clearly from the first talk of hers that I attended, many years ago, was to be put to the test once again, under extreme conditions: You win or you lose by the way that you choose.

Listen, learn and be inspired by our conversation.

    THE CONVERSATION COVERS:

How to tell a new story when a new chapter opensWhat in the world are you waiting for?How to live with hands, hearts, minds and eyes wide openWalking into your fearChoosing to really live instead of merely existingNot letting people trespass your boundariesFighting against patterns of abuse (your own and others)Your power to turn things aroundFrustration is a sign that change is neededYou have to be in it to win itBeing powerful and authoritative in a soft and feminine wayWhy most people stop before they start

Award-winning speaker and best-selling author, Nikki Bush, helps individuals and teams to win at life and work. Her passion for connection and relationships, and how to maintain them in a fast-changing world, is at the core of everything she does as a human potential thought leader.

  • As I have reflected over this past season not only in my own life but in the world, I recognised a wonderful analogy through the creative art of weaving which I would like to share with you on this podcast.

What I enjoy most about the study of humankind, is to recognise that we are all wonderfully unique with our own stories, experiences and perceptions and filters that add different shades to our lives.

I read a beautiful quote the other day: The one thing that you have that nobody else has is YOU. Your voice. Your mind. Your story. Your vision. So write and build and draw and play and dance. And live as only you can.

When we take time to reflect and reframe, it is intriguing what picture emerges and what we can learn from the multifaceted layers of life, and the resilience that is required to rise to the life we were meant to live. That abundant life that Jesus came to give because God so loves the world! When all of the threads come together in technicolour detail, a wonderful tapestry of your life is created and it is to be enjoyed.

  • Body. Stress. Release. The very sound of body stress release makes you want to draw in a deep breath and exhale all that could be keeping you tense with a feeling of being bound. Also to become free from that tightness in your head or chest, or that uneasy sense of living wound-up.

In this podcast, I speak with Kathy Heapy who is a Body Stress Release practitioner. Kathy shares her wealth of knowledge about how the body creates lines of tension and how these create symptoms that can be rectified by applying a different technique that is very gentle on the body yet is able to release locked up emotions and extreme forms of tension caused by injury, trauma and fatigue.

Body Stress Release does not treat or diagnose but the practitioners are catalysts in aiding the body's natural healing ability.

Kathy Heapy’s practice is in Midrand, Gauteng, South Africa, however, you can access Body Stress Release practitioners in your area on this worldwide website: www.bodystressrelease.com https://bodystressrelease.com

  • Thank you to David Zidel, CEO of ORT JET for the conversation we had on your webcast “In The Boardroom with…”

Who you are and what you do in your choice of work and daily life cannot be separated. In this conversation, we cover life lessons that support the necessity of living with purpose, passion, and higher levels of productivity to better access the abundant life you were born to enjoy.

Many people have great dreams and ideas but most stop at the start. There is usually a common cause for this and that is an ancient enemy called fear. Fear creates false evidence that appears like an overwhelming giant over you and this can lead to a sense of paralysis or adopting an indifferent approach to life. In this discussion, practical insights are shared around starting off from where you are right now in this moment, and with what you have got.

The content of this podcast aligns perfectly with humankind being created with three parts: spirit, soul, body, and each one of these elements relate to purpose, passion and productivity. Every person can only live their life moment-by-moment. In every moment you are faced with a choice that will undoubtedly give you an outcome you will have to live through. We all win or lose by the way we choose. The freedom to choose is a priceless gift and carries with it an enormous responsibility.

Thanks to ORT JET for the work they do by offering mentorship, training and networking to ensure the growth of businesses on their programme. They encourage people to purchase goods or services from small businesses to improve the state of the economy, change lives, and sustain employment.

If you would like your business to be listed, please e-mail your business logo and details to [email protected]. • In this episode, I have elected to comb through the past two years of my life and share some of the rich nuggets that have reframed, reshaped and reformed me since I have chosen to become a student of both the experiences in my personal life and what has taken place in our world over these past 24 months. There is not a person on earth that has not been affected by this storm that has raged across the world.

Therefore, the rolling over of the calendar year is yet another gift to you for you to script the life you choose to live into. I have believed and lived by this statement for years; and I wish to underscore it again: Your future is the privilege that you have of co-creating with your Creator—the one who knows the end from the beginning and everything in between. You are going into an uncertain future whether you resist it or not. Rather take the approach to co-create it, than to arrive "there" unprepared, bewildered and disappointed. This privilege of co-creating in the "now" is a gift and we need to unwrap it sooner rather than later.

  • In this episode called A BROKEN HEART CAN BECOME A BEAUTIFUL WORK OF ART, I will be sharing about some key and valuable learnings about loss and newfound life. And particularly in today’s episode, I am having a conversation with an amazing woman, Nanki Robbertse who suffered a great loss in her life and yet has emerged radiant, empowered and above all, generous as she has taken the pain in her life and has turned it into a purposeful mission; that of inspiring and encouraging others who may have had miscarriages, lost their babies at birth or who have had their children leave this earth, seemingly way before their time.

If you have suffered loss, trauma or grief in any area of your life, you will find this interview deeply meaningful.

As a segue into the forthcoming interview, I would like to use the Japanese art form of Kintsugi as an illustration of how a broken heart can become a beautiful piece of art, which is the title of this podcast.

Kintsugi is the Japanese art of putting broken pottery pieces back together with gold, founded on the idea that in embracing our pains, flaws and imperfections, we can create an even stronger, more beautiful piece of art. Every break is unique and instead of repairing an item like new, the 400-year-old technique of Kintsugi actually highlights the "scars" as part of the design. Using this as a metaphor for healing ourselves teaches us an important lesson: Sometimes in the process of repairing things that have broken, we actually create something more unique, beautiful and resilient. The art form is sometimes called golden joinery. What is particularly beautiful about Kintsugi is that the repairs to the vessel are deliberately made on the outside so they cannot be hidden but rather that the join is celebrated and creates a beauty of its own.

  • Wherever you may be right now; whatever you could be experiencing in your life, whatever your situation, it is encouraging to remind yourself that somewhere inside all of us is the power to change our world. The pathway of life is a combination of shade and light, valleys and mountaintops, broad roads, and narrow spaces. The narrow places invite you to not be afraid of the shadows in life that may try to get you to retreat instead of being mindful that there is always hope--even if you only see a glimmer of it in the distance. Keep walking with eyes wide open in new wonder. You will miss the best things if you keep your life-eyes shut. It is time to Rekindle Your Optimism.

  • Dramatic life events such as we have lived through over the past two years remind us that it is time to find a fresh perspective for a new world; to reset and re-emerge, to find the courage again to set out with a confident stride and to look circumstances straight in the eye and to declare that we will not be defeated by this. It will take gaining a fresh perspective for a new world.

Challenges strengthen your core. The stronger your core, the less prone you are to injury and this applies to your spirit, soul and body. In any structure, if the core is weak the structure becomes dangerously unstable. Life's challenges are designed to bring you through in even greater strength.

In this podcast, I share many of my mind-meanderings after a time of reset and re-emergence. After loss and lockdown, I knew intrinsically in my core, that if I was going to live the rest of my days as the best days of my life, I needed to do whatever it takes to make sure I emerged victoriously in spirit, soul and body. I trust you will be as inspired.

  • Life. Everyone on earth lives in this intriguing arena called the world.
Loss. Everyone will experience painful loss at some stage of their lives.
Lockdown. Everyone has been in shut down in one form or another.
Leadership. Not everyone has yet accepted this challenge. But you can.
    It first starts with you.
In this candid conversation with Adriaan Groenewald, CEO of the Leadership Platform, I share openly about the miracle of life and opportunity in the midst of loss and lockdown.
This is my final podcast for 2020 as I make my way back to South Africa. Until we connect again, remember you are alive for such a time as this. Own it. Influence it. Love it.

  • Life is not so much about what happens in our lives, but how we respond to what takes place in our lives. On this week’s podcast I have a conversation with Adriaan Groenewald, the CEO of The Leadership Platform. We talk about matters of life, leadership and legacy. This interview was held before the passing of my husband, Ernest. As I re-listened to the conversation, I was powerfully reminded of the statement I have taken ownership of this year and that is for us to write our plans in pencil and give the eraser to God. I trust you will be inspired to dream, aim high, to find and live into your purpose and know that whatever comes across your path, you can choose the way you wish to navigate your future.
