Hard times make for hard decisions but if there is one thing Ed and Andy understand, is that looking good needs to be a baseline so, choose your groomer carefully.
Ed ventures out to investigate Irelands late night ecosystem and pays homage to the southern fried footmen, protectors of truth, justice and your dining experience.
From sucking eggs, to to six pack pecks, Get Folked knows what you want and….what you need.

Workers day reawakens Andy's love of Techno as Zombie Nation inspires the next generation. Ed gets intimate at a David Gray concert, leaving patrons confused and concerned. The lads almost get their timing right and have a quick dive (the intention is deep dive) into one of the Dubliners more controversial yet successful songs. An episode high on ding doorum, but still need a little falromum. This is Get Folked!

Andy's return to Berlin brings him face to ass with an entrepreneurial journeyman, whose choice of garb and means of income may or may not require explanation and/or payment and/or acceptance and/or respect and/or . . . . . . . ah screw it, we do our best, but we don't really know what the hell was going on in this situation.
And as for Ed, "Sorry" seems to be the hardest word this week as he tries (and fails) to expand on last week's obsessive compulsion to dislike people based entirely on their headwear.
Welcome back to The Get Folked Podcast.
P.S.
Check out the amazing music on our friend Ronan’s Bandcamp via the URL below. Ronan featured on last week’s show with one of the most memorable versions of “Whiskey in the Jar” in existance. You will not be dissappointed.

As Substack's new video publishing rules limit the guys to just one hour of weekly musings, they are left to immediately muse on whether less can ever in fact be more.
It's all French songs and forced marches for Andy this week as he beams to us all directly from the comfort of the cosiest looking utility room this side of the Alpine mountain range. Regaling us with his tales of travels while perched atop a washing machine and pouring himself a glass of stout. Isn't he glorious!
Meanwhile, Ed lets his bitchy side all hang out as he takes issue with the headwear of a bonified Irish folk music legend (meooow), and his annual attempts to not turn into a man-boob adorned slovenly slob results in an unexpected side effect; humble bragging (gasp).

A fresh approach to the podcast this week as Ed and Andy explore the nuance of language, perspective and love. From seductive spiders to nettles who just like to watch, a carefully curated walk through your back garden can reveal some of the most intimate and imaginative imagery to both delight and disgust. Each to their own!

This week's episode is JAM-PACKED! (yes, the capital letters were necessary). Andy and Ed have collected music clips from Uygur Vural's latest "Solo Sessions" in Bavul where he was joined by Ceyhun Kaya and Deniz Mahir Kartal. They also have music from "LACRUSH", last week's Westward-Ho session, and even a new song from Hawkin' Twang.
And, if that amount of musical talent is still not enough for you, perhaps Ed's contemplation (and overexcitement) about the latest scientific advances in the field of getting alcohol from a can into his mouth will pique your interest. Is there nothing humans cannot do?

Confusion abounds on The Get Folked Podcast this week as Andy and Ed try to decipher certain elaborate signs from strangers in order to distinguish between street-based mating rituals and brief incarceration. FREE THE FRANKFURT ONE!!
And, while a comfortable seat at this week's gig may have eluded Andy, there was no shortage of musical talent available in the form of the banjo and mandolin-wielding duo "In Case of Crisis". We've got some clips from them in this week's episode, but you're gonna want more of them afterwards, so we've also helpfully provided URLS for their Instagram and their Bandcamp page (where you can find their full songs) below.
Enjoy

A maiden bike ride into one of Limerick’s many cultural hubs allows Ed the opportunity to have the preverbial mix grill of experiences in music, art, academics and gastronomy. Sharing is caring.
Andrew shares performances from this years Paddy’s day concert as well as his personalised rendition of the story of Tír na Nóg. Don~t touch the ground…this is Get Folked!

Get Folked returns in full for Paddy’s weekend. Andrew revisits the soundscapes of the Phantom Orchestra while both he and Ed explore their experience and understanding of the genre.
The lads compare and contrast this understanding with a enough insight into their personal life to raise a lot of questions while at the same time, not giving enough to allow for answers.
With Hawkin Twang hitting the stage this Monday, there will be just enough time to get the episode in, get yourself a quick check in the clinic and head down to Posh Teckel for a few tunes.

Sickness has struck The Get Folked Podcast team! ! !
Fear not, we will survive, but this week’s episode will be ever so slightly delayed by a few days and we will most likely return with even huskier voices, which we know you all love.
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

Ed shares his own version of "There and Back Again" as he ventured to Dublin city to enjoy a phenomenal performance by Sean Mulrooney for the launch of his debut solo album "This is my Prayer" with an exceptional support performance by Domhan (aka Ciara O'Donnell) in Whelan's music venue.
Andy gives Ed some hot tips on how to present a plausible white lie when one finds oneself over-reacting to an every-day situation. The key is quick wits, or it might be a keen intellect, or it might be tenuous grasp of basic human illnesses. Whatever the key is Ed, as you'll hear, has a lot to learn.
And here are the helpful URLs for all of the nice things we talk about in this episode.

Flemish folk takes centre stage on this week's episode of Get Folked as Ed and Andy find themselves exploring the unique prerequisite needed to join a local band of privateers. It might help explain the relatively short history of Flanders ocean conquests.
Science meets Art as Andy gate crashes the class of 24’s graduation party at the University of Applied Sciences in Berlin where he enjoys a wonderful fusion of Chinese folk and American folk.
The usual mix of everything front the ridiculous to the refined awaits you on this week’s Get Folked.

As storm Eoywn rips through Ireland, both Ed's craftsmanship as a treehouse builder and survival skills as a modern day nomad hold strong. Scaling new heights of respect in the eyes of his loved ones.
Housekeeping gets outsourced this week with both Nick and Uygur both getting in touch to right the wrongs of last week's rambling and ,educate your hosts....in the nicest way possible.
Andrew samples some Norwegian folk, with an Irish twist, and leaves both inspired and in awe of the depth of talent Germany's capital has to offer on a weekly, if not daily, basis. Want to Get Folked??? Come to Berlin.

A fruitless search through the milk chocolate archives leaves Ed and Andy short. Fear not though, sweet sages of the 50’s and 60’s serve up some sound guidance that only a fool would ignore.
Nick Napier performs tracks from his EP as well as some new songs from the resistance inspired venue, The White Rose, in Schoneberg.
Uygur Vural & Ceyhun Kaya kick off a creative journey in Berlin with some mesmerising performances during the inaugural Berlin Solo Sessions series at Bavul Cafe.
The usual mix of music, ponderings and life lessons await you in this week’s Get Folked.

This past week, with all of Ireland suffering under the yoke of a yellow snow warning (yuck!), the band gets back together and Andy brings us some extreme weather-themed folk songs.
Meanwhile, Ed gives voice to the idea he had for what could be Stephen King's next great supernatural novel (complete with a killer twist at the end), but only if Stephen plays his cards right and cuts The Get Folked Podcast team in on the profits.
Come see what all of this actually means in the latest episode of The Get Folked Podcast.

It's January. The Christmas tree is still up. Its lights blink on and off, each merry flash a taunting reminder of the Christmas that is no more. The only chocolates left in the house are Quality Street. The only biscuits are Butter Scottish Shortbread. You think to yourself, "If only someone would take down my decorations for me and distract me from the post-Christmas blues".
Well, fear not. Andy and Ed have your back (not with the decorations, take them down yourself ya feckin' lazy-bones). With their voices now recovered from The Wren Hunt they will provide you with some oh-so soothing distraction as you re-emerge drowsy, cranky, possibly smelly from that annual festive gorging state.
Welcome, dear listener, to the year 2025, to the future, and to the second year of The Get Folked Podcast.

This episode truly has it all: merry-making, singing, charitable giving, heartbreak, seduction, rejection, elation, and mind-controlling fungus. And making her second appearance on the show, Irene helps the guys recount their shared Wren Hunting escapades of St Stephen's Day 2024 which took place in Mitchelstown, County Cork. Like a shining beacon she led them as they and fellow musicians Steve (Cojon and Vocals) and Carol (Guitar and Vocals) raised money for the local Mitchelstown voluntary group "Special Friends". So settle in and enjoy the last episode of 2024.
