In this session, we explore how to reduce your cognitive load, enhance creativity, and get more (and better) stuff done! Emphasizing the importance of pre-making decisions, I suggest strategies to streamline daily tasks, such as planning your day the night before and creating lists to prioritize your actions. We have to stop wasting energy on small decisions throughout the day and instead use strategies like batching, delegating, automating, and simplifying to reduce cognitive load.
I provide practical examples, from planning meals to automating bill payments, to illustrate how simplifying routine decisions can lead to increased productivity and the ability to tackle more significant challenges.

From bankruptcy to a million-dollar payday in just over a month! This and many other great stories are just inside today's podcast with my guest Erik Weir. I met Erik aboard his private jet on the way to the wedding of a mutual friend. On that trip I had his undivided attention and got to ask all kinds of questions. I felt like I got a mini-MBA on that 4-hour plane ride, and it was just the beginning. Since then, Erik has helped me with several significant negotiations and has challenged my thinking in some really powerful ways. On today's show, we talk about goals, finding resources (capital and otherwise), overcoming failure, getting past rejection, and so much more. From the poorest county in Michigan to an 9,000 sq. ft. vacation home in the mountains of Colorado, my guest today has come a long way, literally and metaphorically. Today, Karlan Tucker is an über successful entrepreneur and owner of multiple businesses, but it wasn’t always that way. On today’s show, we trace his path to success and take away lessons for anyone who wants to achieve similar results. Karlan is a man with a lot of great stories, and fortunately he’s a great storyteller as well, so interviewing him was easy and fun. Listen now, or watch it here https://youtu.be/9QT8POYVQWw

"I'm going to own the first supply depot on the moon." Now, if anybody else said that to me, I'd think they were perhaps delusional. But when today's podcast guest says this, I think I actually believe him! Adam Anderson is the founder and/or primary investor in nearly 30 startups. Adam's wife says he "does big things with cool people" and after you've listened to today's show, we think you'll agree. Adam thinks bigger than just about anybody I know. From staging an MMA fight in space to hanging out with Richard Branson on Necker Island to serving as "the former advisor to the former prime minister of Bhutan" (there's a story behind that!), Adam does indeed do big things with cool people. He's also very funny. :) Join the conversation here, or for the full experience, watch the video at https://youtu.be/drldjY6AQ1U

Today’s show may be one of the most valuable and practical to date. It’s all about this incredibly valuable resource we call “attention.“ If we stop and think about it, we know it is insanely valuable. But so often, we give it away as if it is worthless. It seems like everybody and everything is trying to steal our attention, whether it be phone notifications, telemarketers, emails, text messages, coworkers tapping us on the shoulder and asking “got a minute?“On today’s show, JDew and Tim talk about the high cost of interruptions, and share a handful of practical strategies for what to do about it.For the best experience, watch it here: https://youtu.be/JIakMy631ts , or listen on the podcast platform of your choice.

On this week’s show, my friend Jonathan Peeples turns the tables and interviews me.
If you’ve ever wondered how to evade kidnapping or where to shoot live machine guns from helicopters, this is your podcast!
But we also discussed more practical things, like how to defend your price and not get taken advantage of, how to use price anchoring, and how to turn failure into success.
We talked about little word changes that can make huge differences in negotiations, and I shared my #1 piece of advice for achieving success in life and in business.
Along the way, we covered topics like leadership and managing risk, the importance of trying new things, and our favorite books.
It was a fun and valuable conversation. I hope you enjoy it!

How do presidents manage their time and focus? Eisenhower was said to have run the country using a matrix of "urgent" and "important" tasks, later called the "Eisenhower Matrix." Popularized by Stephen Covey, it is sometimes called the "Four Quadrants" system. Whatever you call it, it's a great way to prioritize your time, energy, and focus. You might think that the "urgent AND important" box should get the most attention, but actually that's not true. We break it down in today's show.
