This isn't just about making your dog retrieve; it's about teaching them how to learn, creating a deeper bond, and building unwavering reliability. Whether your dog is a natural retriever or not, force fetch formalizes the entire process, addressing issues like hard mouths and lack of consistent hand-offs. It's a step-by-step program, like reading a picture book, and each step is essential for long-term success. By using various objects, you're helping your dog generalize the skill and build confidence, not to mention learn how to turn off pressure. So, if you're looking to take your dog's training to the next level, this episode will show you the "why" behind the process, and help you better understand how to work with your dog, whether you're just starting out, or looking to improve what you already have.

WATCH | DELMAR SMITH: BIRD DOG & RODEO ICON
WATCH | 300. More Than a Dog Trainer: The World of Delmar Smith
--------------------
Episode 300! It’s hard to believe it’s been over five years since starting the show. It’s been an incredible journey, capturing conversations with so many people from across the dog training and hunting world. Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of meeting and learning from some of the most respected voices in the space.
That said, I recently had the opportunity to interview perhaps the most legendary name in the bird dog world—Mr. Delmar Smith. Over the course of a few days, we picked his brain, listened to his stories, and walked away with a treasure trove of footage. What began as a simple podcast episode quickly evolved into something more—a "docu-cast." Instead of just another interview, this project became a deep dive into Delmar’s life, family, business, and the seemingly endless supply of stories that only a man like him could tell.
In this special episode, I sit down with the friends who were along for the ride as we reflect on what it was like to get to know Delmar, hear his backstory, and experience firsthand the impact he’s had on the world of bird dogs.
--------------------
Highlights:
00:00:00 Introduction: The Delmar Smith Experience
00:01:15 Humble Beginnings & Shattered Expectations
00:06:15 The Mission: Honoring the Bird Dog Foundation
