  • Welcome back to the Heads Together podcast! Today’s episode might ruffle a few feathers, but it’s a conversation that needs to be had. The truth is, not everyone has what it takes to grow a thriving coaching practice. It’s not about coaching being too hard or the industry not being viable, it’s about whether you have the right skills, mindset, and resilience to make it work.

Some coaches simply aren’t good enough at coaching. Without delivering real results, no amount of marketing will (or should) build a sustainable business. I see some coaches expecting it to be easy, posting a few times on social media and waiting for clients to roll in. But success takes strategy, learning how to sell, and most importantly, grit. If you give up at the first sign of struggle, this path may not be for you.

Building a coaching business requires handling uncertainty, being open to learning, and committing fully. Those who keep one foot in and one foot out will never build something truly successful. So ask yourself, are you willing to go all in? Because if you are, you do have what it takes, and we can help you:

  • The way you onboard a client isn’t just a nice touch, it’s a game changer. The moment someone says yes to working with you, they’re either getting more excited or second guessing their decision. And that all comes down to how you welcome them into your coaching world.

In this week's episode of the Heads Together, I am talking about what makes a ridiculously good onboarding experience, one that makes clients feel valued, confident, and ready to get results. From the first message you send to keeping momentum before the first session, to structuring that crucial first call, I’m sharing a simple yet powerful approach that most coaches overlook. When done right, this process not only keeps clients engaged but turns them into your biggest advocates.

If you’re ready to make your onboarding experience smoother, more personal, and ultimately more effective, let’s make it happen.

If you're a coach who's struggling to consistently attract and sign up great clients, I'm here for you! The next cohort of The Coaching Business Academy kicks off on 16th April 2025 - find out more HERE

  • There was a time when you could post a few pretty graphics, throw up some motivational quotes, and somehow, coaching clients would find their way to your DMs. But those days? They’re over.

In this episode of Heads Together, I’m calling out the outdated marketing strategies that simply aren’t working anymore and sharing exactly what does work to attract high-ticket coaching clients in 2025. It’s not about chasing the algorithm or trying to “hack” your way to success, it’s about showing up as the expert you are, building real relationships, and creating a business that isn’t at the mercy of social media trends.

  • Welcome back to the Heads Together podcast! This week I’m asking a tough question: Are you actually running a coaching business, or are you just coaching? Because there’s a big difference. If you’re treating your coaching like a side project rather than a real business, you’re likely stuck in hobby mode and that’s keeping you from the success you really want.

It’s one thing to love coaching, but that alone doesn’t make it a business. If you’re waiting for clients to magically appear, endlessly tweaking your website, or posting motivational quotes hoping someone will reach out, you’re not building a sustainable business, you’re playing at one. A real business needs structure, strategy, and a commitment to growth.

In this episode, I break down some of the biggest signs that you might be stuck in hobby mode and what it takes to shift into real business ownership. If you’ve ever felt like you’re spinning your wheels, staying busy but not making real progress, this one is for you. I’m getting honest about what actually moves the needle and how you can step into the role of CEO in your coaching business.

So, are you ready to make the shift? Listen in, and let’s get to work. And if this episode resonates, DM me on Instagram or LinkedIn and tell me what changes you’re making today. • If you’ve ever found yourself obsessing over where the next client is coming from or feeling that gut-wrenching panic when someone says no, this episode of the Heads Together Podcast is for you. I am talking about the biggest mindset shift that makes signing clients easier: stop chasing money and start focusing on connection, trust, and service. When you do, the money becomes a natural side effect.

This isn’t about sitting back and hoping for the best. It’s about showing up, doing the work, and playing the long game. When you stop leading with desperation and start building real relationships, everything, clients, sales, opportunities, flows so much more naturally. And let’s be honest, your business feels a whole lot better when you’re not constantly stress chasing.

Don’t miss my free three day masterclass, Unearth Your Edge, where we’ll refine your niche and messaging so the right people come to you. Register now at www.gillmoakes.com/unearth

  • Coaches, this is a BIG one! If you’re struggling to get your messaging to land with your ideal clients, there’s a good chance you’re making this mistake: you’re speaking “coach speak” instead of the real words your clients use.

If your marketing is full of phrases like “stepping into alignment,” “creating transformational shifts,” or “holding space for expansion,” you might be unintentionally confusing your audience instead of connecting with them.

In today’s episode, I’m calling out the biggest blind spot in coaching messaging—why coaches fall into this trap, why it doesn’t work, and how to fix it so that your message actually resonates with the people you want to attract.

💡 What You’ll Learn in This Episode:

✔ What coach speak is and why it’s making your marketing ineffective
✔ How to recognise where it’s creeping into your messaging
✔ A simple test to check if your message is landing or just floating past your audience
✔ The #1 shift that will make your ideal clients say, “Oh my God, YES! That’s me!”
✔ The real words your ideal clients use (and how to integrate them into your messaging)

✹ Ready for a Messaging Makeover?

I’m challenging you to audit your messaging—your website, social media bios, sales pages, and even how you introduce yourself at networking events. Find the coach speak, strip it out, and replace it with the words your ideal clients actually use.

🚀 And if you’re not 100% clear on your unique coaching edge and how to craft messaging that attracts the right clients

  • Are you struggling to attract enough of the right coaching clients? You’re not alone. One of the biggest frustrations I hear from coaches is that they’re either not getting enough clients at all—or they’re attracting people who aren’t the right fit. They either can’t afford their coaching or just don’t align with the work they want to do.

In today’s episode, I’m coming in hot with some tough love about the real reason this is happening. Spoiler: It’s all about niching—and yes, you absolutely DO need to niche! Please don't be tempted to listen to the people who are just telling you what you want to hear!

I’ll be breaking down why trying to be everything to everyone makes you invisible, how defining your coaching niche actually frees you rather than restricts you, and why this is the single biggest shift that will help you start attracting dream clients who truly value your work.

💡 What You’ll Learn in This Episode:

✔ Why generalist messaging doesn’t work and makes you blend into the background
✔ The biggest fears coaches have about niching—and why they’re holding you back
✔ How to position yourself as an expert so your ideal clients immediately recognise that you’re the coach for them
✔ The key to making your messaging land so that the right people reach out to work with you
✔ My potential plan for a free mini-course on nailing your niche—should I create it? Let me know!

🚀 Ready to Get Clear on Your Niche?

I’m thinking about creating a free, no-strings-attached mini-course to help you get crystal clear on what makes you unique as a coach and how to define your perfect niche. But I need to know if this is something you’d find valuable!

  • Welcome back to the Heads Together podcast! This week, I’m taking about a topic that’s so important for growing a thriving coaching business: niching down. I know it can feel intimidating, even risky, to narrow your focus, especially when you’ve been holding onto the idea that you can help everyone. But the truth is, getting specific about who you serve and how you serve them is what creates the clarity and confidence that takes your business to the next level.

When you have a clear niche, everything starts to click. You stop second guessing your offers and start connecting with the right people, the ones who feel like your work was made just for them. This isn’t about limiting yourself; it’s about creating space to build a business that reflects who you are and what you’re amazing at. Clarity isn’t just helpful, it’s powerful. It’s what allows you to stand out in a crowded market and build the kind of reputation that attracts incredible opportunities.

If you’ve been struggling with this or feeling unsure about your niche, this episode will give you the encouragement and tools to figure it out. I’ll walk you through some actionable steps to help you uncover your unique edge and build your business around it.

When you know exactly who you’re meant to help and how you’re meant to help them, everything feels more aligned and the results speak for themselves. Let’s get started!

  • In this episode of the Heads Together podcast, I’m talking about something that can have a profound impact on your business, your money mindset. As we approach a new year, this is the perfect time to reflect on the beliefs and attitudes you hold around money and how they may be shaping your decisions without you even realising it.

I explore how your money mindset influences everything from pricing your offers to how confidently you talk about your services. This isn’t about spreadsheets or budgets, it’s about the stories you’ve been telling yourself and how you can reframe them to explore new opportunities and abundance in your business.

We’ll talk about what might be holding you back and how to start shifting your mindset in a way that feels empowering and achievable. If you’re ready to embrace bold financial goals, take aligned action, and start seeing the results you deserve, this episode is for you.

Tune in, and let’s get you set up for a fresh, abundant start to 2025!
