Dr Heba Khaled is a dentist, and a student of Psychology from an Islamic perspective. She has been going through a condition called Topical Steroid Withdrawal, which she is currently raising awareness for. In this episode, Dr Heba shares her personal journey of eczema that escalated to TSW in her adulthood and left her bed bound for over three years. She also warns against the use of the ‘orange cream’ to manage eczema as lab reports show that it contains clobetasol propionate, which is one of the most potent steroid.

Amirah Zaky started the episode by sharing her upbringing of being raised by an Egyptian father and a Thai mother who learnt about Islam with her as a child, to getting married at a really young age of 18 years old which is when her struggle to lose her virginity began. For a year, Amirah hadn’t consummated her marriage which lead a discussion with her husband where divorce was mentioned which is something they both didn’t want. Amirah started her own research into her condition and realised that she had a condition called ‘Vaginismus’ which she describes in detail in the episode. It was so brave and courageous of her to be so open and vulnerable with us in the hope that it will help another woman out there. Alhamdulilah soon after this, she was blessed with two beautiful children and she no longer suffers from vaginismus. She now works as a sexual wellness coach specialising in helping women to overcome painful sex, vaginismus and fear of intercourse. She also helps women to painlessly lose their virginity on their wedding night. We talked about the importance of normalising talking and educating our girls about sex so they enter marriage mentally prepared rather than frightened and with shame.
It was a really amazing episode with many gems to take away. I really recommend sharing this episode with all women in your life, especially those who are about to get married or are married.

Michelle opened her heart with us and took us way back to her childhood days where life of crime was a norm in the home she was brought up in, so was racism and there was no religion. She found Islam through an abusive relationship with a ‘Muslim’ man and years later went abroad to do charity work only to come back to find that her 13 years old daughter had left Islam coupled with her father passing away without her having the chance to say goodbye to having a miscarriage to being diagnosed with MS. She bravely shared it all with us, so openly, so deeply and you know what so courageously.
Michelle is an Women’s Empowerment coach for Muslim mums. You connect with her on IG @_awakenedminds_
We ask Allah (swt) to accept it from her and allow her story to empower the heart of the one who needs it the most.
That’s it from me now!
Assalamu Alaykum Warahmatullah Wabarakatu!
