What can these powerful organs show us as we dive into the powerful insights that our eyes, also known as the windows to the soul can unlock through behavioral iridology. We discuss the basic aspects and patterns that a iris reading can reveal, how it can show you the generational patterns you were brought here to learn, and Jim's amazing story of his transformational healing journey.
Jim Verghis is regarded as one of the world’s leading authorities on trans-generational behavioral patterns and how they correlate to accidents, illness and disease patterns. He has worked national and internationally since founding the Institute of Behavioral Iridology, in 2001. An educational - healing system to share the teachings and methodologies he learned from five amazing teachers and 36 years of experience. Jim has authored 3 books, Behavioral Iridology:Personality Assessment Through The Eyes, Self-Love and Intimacy: A Guide to Conscious Relationships, & Behavioral Genealogy: How Our Family Shapes Our Lives.
Jim’s work is based on the principle that our soul chooses its parents and family to support its journey this lifetime. We know the eyes are the “windows to the soul,” They are also a blueprint of genetic inheritance. By charting your history family, health history and observing the patterns in your eyes, your soul’s journey is revealed. Accidents, illness and disease happen on purpose. Identifying the lessons contributing to the pain, instead of trying to get rid of it, empowers us to take charge of our lives and healing from within, as our physiology is directly related to our psychology. With over 36 years of experience and thousands of iris interpretations, Jim Verghis has refined his model to be one of the most accurate systems for identifying and understanding the complexity of the human psyche and personality on health, healing and intimate relationships in the world.
In 1978, Jim had a near death experience falling 44’ from a roof, fracturing his pelvis in six places. He has been a zealot to discover and practice what it takes to heal his pain from a traumatic injury. He began exploring holistic and more natural therapies in the fall of 1980. He explored and tried everything he could find. In the process he realized the emotional and mental pain were active contributors to his physical condition. He found some amazing teachers to address the pain on all levels. He learned pain was his teacher when he got the lesson, the pain would go away. It was a process of transmutation turning the energy of the pain from (darkness), into light (love).
For him, healing was not trying to make something go away. The word “heal” means to make more whole. Behavioral Genealogy/Iridology became the expression of how to become more whole and healed from the inside; using natural methodologies and therapies aligned with natural laws. His private practice is an extension of that. He specializes in working with those with trauma who are very dedicated to their own healing.

Jesse Wolf Hardin is an impactful author, ecosopher, ecological and societal activist, personal counsel, graphic artist, musician, and historian –– an unboxable champion of both human and bio diversity as well as of nature’s medicines. Wolf has been a featured presenter at hundreds of conferences and universities, and was the creator of cross cultural ecospiritual collaborations appropriately called “Medicine Shows” that melded his spoken word with live music, indigenous presenters, and purposeful activism. In 2008 he cofounded the international Good Medicine Confluence gathering, along with the in-depth digital magazine for herbalists, healers and folklorists Plant Healer Quarterly and Herbaria. Dr. Kim is a naturopathic doctor who specializes in science-based, patient focused, natural medicine. Her practice is located in Lewes Delaware. She received her Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine (N.D.) degree from Bastyr University in Kenmore, Washington in 2000. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Kim is also the garden educator at Southern DE School of the Arts (SDSA), our flagship SNAC location where she founded the program since 2011.
Shandra is in charge of keeping both plants and kids organized and happy as our Executive Director. She designs and manages our programs and vibrant outdoor spaces. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies and Ecology from George Washington University, is a certified permaculture designer through the Occidental Arts and Ecology center, and has studied yoga & mindfulness in India. She loves sharing her knowledge of ecology, mindfulness, nutrition, and art with students, helping them make real life learning connections that extend beyond the garden.

She works alongside her team to expand diversity and pollinator habitat on the farm to create the healthiest ecosystem possible. In this month's episode of The Herbal Journey podcast, we dive into discussions with Andre Wilson from Inner Alchemy Rejuvenation on the fundamentals and benefits behind the Wim Hof breath work and cold therapy methods to assist you with your holistic wellness practice. Today's guest is a friend we met from our stay in Lafayette, LA, and our visit to Ascend Wellness Studio, where I met Andre for an infrared light therapy session at the studio. We started discussing the benefits of infrared and the cold and hot hydro therapies, which led to the discussion of breath work techniques, and these therapies being great options for aiding my Cystic Fibrosis symptoms. We invited him to be a guest on the podcast to discuss the benefits of the Wim Hof method as a holistic practice, after joining one of his Wim Hof method workshops and experiencing the results ourselves.

In this month's episode of The Herbal Journey podcast, we visit with Colton Campitelli from Abby's Acre Farm. A veteran run non-profit sustainable urban market garden that provides fresh local produce to the community. It is a place for veterans to come together to find the support they need for PTSD and other mental health conditions through their coffee for vets events and volunteer farming opportunities.
Today's guest is a friend we met from our travels in Louisiana. A military veteran and former US Navy helicopter search and rescue swimmer and EMS rescue responder. After years of service he found himself at a loss of what to do next with his career, after being diagnosed 100% disabled and knowing that he could no longer do the same career he was trained to do and had done for several years.
Gardening had been a part of his family life since he was a kid, and he didn't realize the impact it would have on his own life and healing, nor the impact it would have on his fellow veterans. He helps with his non-profit for veterans sustainable urban garden, Abby's acres. Abby's acres began to want the same camaraderie and responsibility through service he felt working with others to accomplish a mission, but this time the mission was mental health and helping veterans like himself, who suffer from PTSD symptoms and other mental health issues.
We are honored to have Colton Campitelli from Abby's acres farm in Lafayette, La with us today to discuss his story, his challenges of running a sustainable farm, and his mission against the fight for mental health awareness and PTSD for veterans of all services, discharge status, disability ratings, and age. In this month's episode of The Herbal Journey podcast, we dive into the Acadian culture and traditions of the Cajun Healer or Traiteur in French. Traiteur's have been treating the ill and injured around the bayous since the eighteenth century with this generational practice of faith healing.
In this episode, we had the pleasure of meeting with Colby Hébert, a New Iberia, LA native and generational Traiteur since the age of 11.Colby Hébert has always had a deep pride and passion for his Louisiana roots. Since 2016, he has used his custom hat business "The Cajun Hatter" as an avenue to express and preserve elements of Cajun and Creole culture. Currently, he has shifted his preservation efforts toward the healing tradition, which he has long been a part. In this episode, we discuss the traditions of this Cajun and Creole inspired method of faith healing. In his talk, "The Cajun Healer: Revival and Renewal", Hébert will share his perspectives on how we can honor tradition while embracing the changes necessary to sustain it.
We had the pleasure of meeting Colby and his wife on our Herbal Journey and visiting his custom hat shop in downtown Lafayette, LA. The shop is so neat, the hats are as amazing as the process done to make them, and the Southern hospitality is never short here. We enjoyed sips of his favorite rum from old English tea cups, as the pirates would, as we shared discussions around healing traditions, native herbs, hat making, and more.
