Parenting is often considered one of the most difficult and least appreciated job in the world. But it is also the most fulfilling one when you get to see your loved ones grow into a responsible and kind human beings.
But the process of upbringing a kid is full of challenges. Parents are always looking out for their child’s needs, physical safety, emotional well being and mental development in order to prepare them for the life ahead. The way we raise our kids defines how they are going to be in the future. So it is important to have a positive social, emotional and physical balance in thier lives so that we can help flourish these same traits in them.
There are no set definitions for “Good” or “Bad” Parenting, as it all depends on your own and your child’s situation. What might be inappropriate in one context and culture might be fully acceptable in another. But there are some general rules and guidelines which are followed world over as good parenting practices towards raising great kids. Some of these are giving dedicated time to your kids, showing affection to them, sharing moments with them, listening to them and understanding their needs.
Good parenting does not mean being a perfectionist but creating an environment for the child that inculcates good moral and social values in them. When children grow up, they look up to their parents as their role models and parents need to earn this respect by proving their worth when kids are growing up.
In this podcast series of “Parenting & Childhood”, Chimes Radio organizes interactive sessions with some of the child consultants, psychologists and other experts to provide useful and practical tips to parents to provide a nurturing environment around their young ones.

Bedtime Stories with Nanna Chelle is a bedtime story podcast for young children. I'm a nanna who lives hours away from my grandchildren, so miss out on the privilege of tucking them in and reading them a bedtime story. I believe this podcast is the next best thing. Mum or dad can take the night off and let Nanna Chelle read to them via audio. The added benefit of hearing my voice is that it promotes connection between grandchild and grandparent, something I hope will strengthen our bond.
My wish is that this may also bring comfort to any other little ones who may not have their nanna nearby. -
