  • It was a wild day on Wall Street as the three major indexes combined for some record increases. To be sure, this is something that happens after most presidential elections. Why? One thing the market hates is uncertainty which is where we've been at for weeks. Following the election, no matter who wins, the markets react positively. That bit of news is first. • It was a scary Halloween on Wall Street and we'll kick that story out first. Also a bit of something unique. While most kids in the U.S. Trick or Treat on Halloween that's not been the case here in Iowa for decades. You see, back in 1938 some kids wandered around tipping over outhouses and so the decision was made to move trick or treating to "Beggars Night" which it the night BEFORE Halloween. (Like that might slow outhouse tipping.) Odd...we know. However because heavy storms raced through the Greater Des Moines Metro yesterday the night to Trick or Treat is actually tonight. It's a win for traditionalists. But please, no outhouse tipping...which is pretty impossible because we don't have them.
