Photographer, poet and organiser at Woodfiled Pavilion in South London.
Janet’s relationship with photography began when she received her first camera at eighteen—a gift that sparked a lifelong journey of observation and expression. Working primarily in black and white, Janet captures emotion in its most intimate and unfiltered form. Her photographs are quiet, contemplative, and deeply human, reflecting her sensitivity to light, shadow, and the stories that unfold in everyday life.
But Janet’s artistic work doesn’t stop at the camera. She’s also an active community organiser, hosting exhibitions, film nights, and creative gatherings at The Woodfield Pavilion, a community space nestled in the heart of South London. There, she helps foster dialogue, collaboration, and connection among artists and neighbours alike.
In this episode, we talk about what it means to see—and feel—through the lens, her love for monochrome imagery, and the value of making art in community.

Neda Dana-Haeri is a painter and printmaker whose work delves into themes of memory, light, and color. Her series "Colourscape" draws inspiration from Farid-Uddin Attar's 12th-century Persian poem "The Conference of the Birds," using color and feather motifs to depict a spiritual journey. In "Aghl-e Sorkh" (Crimson Mind), she explores the philosophy of illumination, employing dominant black strokes combined with red lines and white edges to unfold hidden worlds. Her art reflects a deep engagement with Persian poetry and Sufi philosophy, aiming to evoke the essence of memories and tell stories through an eternal tune echoing in the air.
Sarah Knight is a London and France-based artist whose diverse practice includes oil painting, printmaking, drawing, and installation. Her work focuses on the overlooked and discarded aspects of everyday life, encouraging viewers to re-examine familiar spaces. By highlighting these elements, she exposes the fragility and potential futility of human endeavor when confronted with the forces of time and nature. Her art invites contemplation on the transient nature of existence and the enduring impact of the natural world.
