I’m going to explain where all this pain comes from, especially at a time when we are trying to create and deliver JOY for ourselves and everyone around us. This episode helps you with practical strategies to get through the season feeling good physically and emotionally.

  • Food manufacturers are so well aware of the addictive nature of some foods that they use it to achieve what they call the “bliss point” in their products. While we don’t understand everything about how processed foods impact us differently from whole foods, it is clear they have a big impact on us psychologically and physically.

We can use the food addiction model to interrupt destructive eating behaviour. This is just one of the tools I have found work for me, and I hope these resources help you too. Find all the links and references here:

  • The most important factor in your ability to stick with a low-carb or keto lifestyle is motivation. Motivation is not something you can force; it’s something you learn about yourself.

Most overweight people are motivated to lose weight. Most are also knowledgeable about how to lose weight. The key element preventing them from putting that knowledge into action is their true motivation.

Let’s say you need to change your eating pattern, but you are responsible to prepare food for the whole family, most of whom are not interested in adopting your new health plan. Balancing your “weight loss” against the task of meal planning for the family, which one is more important?

You might need to go deeper into your real goal - the thing that weight loss accomplishes for you. Perhaps you don’t REALLY want to lose weight just for the sake of a number on the scale. Perhaps what you really want from your improved health is more time doing activities you love with the people you love.
