John Craemer & Janelle Fisher from the Green Bay Press Times are in with their weekly feature: Headlines with the Press Times! John is a multi-media journalist with the local paper, and Janelle covers everything entertainment! This week, they bring in Mike Ajango with Evergreen Theater. Mike shares a number of performances they have coming up over the next few months, and also talks briefly about a great summer program for kids that Evergreen puts on. Discussion of all the great music, theater, and arts in the area reminds us how lucky we are to have many great performance venues, large and small, in Northeast Wisconsin. Then a friend of the show, Reggie Desamour, owner of Area 509 in Appleton, joins to talk about his new food truck, "Busted Spud," and some of the events they have planned this summer. Reggie has an interesting backstory! His passion for cooking started at a young age when he would be in the kitchen with his mother in Haiti. The youngest of three sons, he helped with a variety of chores, but cooking was his favorite. His passion was there! Early in 2019, Reggie decided to turn a hobby into a business and began the process of building his own food trailer. He wanted his food trailer to feature his authentic Caribbean food while allowing him to travel to different communities and connect with people. Roxanne even made us some rum cakes for his visit!

We're talking about the Draft, and the hour starts with Maino's conversation with former Green Bay quarterback Randy Wright. He was drafted to the pack in 1984, and things were VERY different back then. It was very laid back and a non-event. Obviously, things are very different today. Then Pam Seidl, Executive Director of the Fox Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau, visits to talk about the Fox Cities' contribution to the big event. The CVB is stepping up with shuttle services and events like a mini Mile of Music, which includes 10 venues with live music on Wednesday night.

On yesterday's show, the guys proclaimed the end of winter and the beginning of warmer weather! We find out that they may have announced that a little too soon! It's a bit of a blustery morning, for sure! The conversation shifts to the NFL Draft's impact on Green Bay, revealing the ten-year effort to host it and the community's preparations. Then the guys discuss Maino's desire to become a metal finder. He claims he's saving up to buy a new detector.

From The Beach Boys to Quiet Riot, from The Glam Band to Ask Your Mother, ICC will feature plenty of national acts mixed with local groups! Then, "mixologist" Tavia Hopfensperger from Old Station 31 Spirits is back in the house, and she brings some cocktails for tasting. One of our favorites is the Smokey Lemonade. Old Station 31 Spirits teamed up with another friend of ours, Ace Champion, for an event coming up on the 29th. The tickets are sold out, but we're glad we could introduce Ace and Tavia. Great things will come from this! We think of Old Station 31 Spirits as a blend of history, community, and creativity!

The hour begins with veteran Chuck Wellens. Chuck has been a guest on the show before, and he joins us to help kick off a new feature we're featuring on our website called "Remembering Vietnam". Like many of the men and women who served, Chuck didn't want to talk much about his experience until many years later. We're all better because he's decided to share his story with all of us. "Remembering Vietnam" is sponsored by THE Dispensary. Our "Veterans Salute" is brought to you by Olson Legal Group, LLC in Berlin and Oshkosh. Then some great friends from Marinette make the drive in. Mayor Steve Genisot and the Director of Marketing and Tourism, Shawn Katzbeck, gave an update on what's going on in the city. From housing and jobs to education and entertainment, Marinette really is a great community to visit and also live.
