Welcome to Media Club Plus: a podcast about diving into the media that interests us and the stories that excite us.
This week we’re starting off with maybe the most important episode of Hunter x Hunter to date: a bottle episode featuring Gon’s emotional face-off with Pitou, and Killua’s emotional face-back with Gon (because Gon never turns around in this scene). We’ll get into it in depth but that’s literally all that happens in this one. In the next two episodes we check back in with all the other threads going on in the Palace: Cheetu begs to be killed instantly by the Zoldycks, Meleoron is able to link back up with Killua, Ikalgo deals with having blown his cover, Youpi is having an identity crisis because he cant find any of his friends and everyone keeps attacking him and its not fair, and knuckle semi-successfully is able to keep Youpi from killing Shoot
This week we cover episodes 116-118, titled Revenge x and x Recovery, Insult x And x Payback, and A x False x Rage. Next episode we'll be covering episodes 119-121, titled Strong x or x Weak, Fake x and x Real, and Defeat x and x Dignity.

Welcome to Media Club Plus: a podcast about diving into the media that interests us and the stories that excite us.
The King is already gone, but there's a castle full of ants desperate to find and protect him. Gon and Killua have a brief encounter with Netero and Zeno on their way to find Pitou. Killua especially is having some sort of crisis (crises?). Zeno almost has words of warning for the boys, but instead says "hey man don't look at me you figure it out". Meanwhile, Ikalgo immediately raises everyone's suspicion and Knuckle has to tap in for a thoroughly beaten Shoot. Oh yeah and there's a new entry in the "most paranoid guy" category: Welfin. He sees Bloster hear Ikalgo call Leol "Hagya" and has a sincerely impressive meltdown.
This week we cover episodes 113-115, titled An x Indebted x Insect, Divide x And x Conquer, and Duty x And x Question. Next episode we'll be covering episodes 116-118, titled Revenge x and x Recovery, Insult x And x Payback, and A x False x Rage.

Welcome to Media Club Plus: a podcast about diving into the media that interests us and the stories that excite us.
It's been almost 20 episodes since the Extermination Team took a train to East Gorteau to prep for an attack on the castle and almost 40 since Gon and Killua warped to Kite, by chance, officially starting their journey to the most dangerous place on earth. What seemed like a simple plan, to give cover for Netero to fight the King by separating the royal guards, is now a confusing mess. Netero showed up, Zeno Zoldyck in tow, in a hail of nen bombs, accidentally wounding Komugi. Because of this, the King chose to separate himself. Job done? Well, King or no, there's still a house full of ants to deal with.
This week we cover episodes 110-112, titled Confusion x And x Expectation, Charge x And x Invade, and Monster x And x Monster. Next episode we'll be covering episodes 113-115, titled An x Indebted x Insect, Divide x And x Conquer, and Duty x And x Question.

Welcome to Media Club Plus: a podcast about diving into the media that interests us and the stories that excite us.
We're finally, finally back with Gon and Killua for chunks of these episodes, but there's a ton of other business too. Of course, the King is playing Gungi (or Gungi is playing him?) Also, we start and easily conclude Morel's fight with Leol. Knov makes a sort of peace with his panic attack, and Poof has two of his own. Killua has made best friends with Ikalgo and Gon has made Meleoron best friends with Knuckle. Also, no one can get in touch with Palm.
This week we cover episodes 107-109, titled Return x and x Retire, Komugi x and x Gungi, and Taking Stock x and x Taking Action. Next episode we'll be covering episodes 110-112, titled Confusion x And x Expectation, Charge x And x Invade, and Monster x And x Monster.

Gungi Gungi Gungi Gungi!!!! The King is playing Gungi!!!!! While that happens, for some weird reason the Hunters catch a break in their preparations to invade the castle. Why would what be? King's just in there playing gungi after all.
This week we cover episodes 104-106, titled Doubt x And x Hesitation, Resolve x And x Awakening and Knov x And x Morel. Next episode we'll be covering episodes 107-109, titled Return x and x Retire, Komugi x and x Gungi, and Taking Stock x and x Taking Action.

Welcome to Media Club Plus: a podcast about diving into the media that interests us and the stories that excite us. Now for our headliner this evening, you've seen him in clubs across the Mitene Union, please give a warm Chimera Ant welcome to Bronk Shiltins!!!!
Ok here's a joke for you: what's the only thing worse than falling into a debt trap and being caught for 1 month in a state of enforced zetsu? Being caught for 1 month in a state of enforced zetsu on the day the Chimera Ant King is born! No but seriously folks it's great to be here at the ant fortress. I took this gig because I'd do anything to get ahead, now I'd do anything just to keep it! Boy that king sure has a short temper, huh? And that's not the only short thing about h--

Hey everyone, sorry for the delay but Media Club Plus 28 will be out next week, on 10/08/24. In lieu of proper ep I have in exchange this hearty Bonus. We've also got part 2 of our DBZ bonus coming on 10/15/24
In this episode we discuss 5 episodes: the first 3 episodes of the Tien Shinhan arc, as well episodes 11 and 12 of that arc. Some lists will call these episodes 83-85, 93, 94. I'm sorry that it's slightly confusing. These episodes are sometimes called season 4 and sometimes called season 7. I believe season 7 is more "official". To help, the episode titles are "Which Way to Papaya Island?" , "Rivals and Arrivals", "Preliminary Peril", "Tien Shinhan vs. Jackie Chun" and "Stepping Down"

Welcome to Media Club Plus: a podcast about diving into the media that interests us and the stories that excite us.
Sometimes a hunter has to kill. In Hunter x Hunter sometimes a hunter has to kill for love. Sometimes that's heroic, and sometimes that's scary. I guess it's more about who you kill, and how mean you seem while doing it. Luckily our friends Gon and Killua don't seem very mean at all. And neither do their new assassin adversaries, which is also lucky. Palm on the other hand, Palm Siberia, she's scary. Scarier even than the full suite of Chimera Ant Royal Guards, now fully splatted out from their egg things.

Welcome to Media Club Plus: a podcast about diving into the media that interests us and the stories that excite us. Kite, Gon and Killua are deep into the NGL now, and everything is going extremely well. So why does Kite feel sick? Why can't he stop worrying? It feels like there's something he's forgetting and while he does his best to care for his two new companions, it won't be long before he finds out what's waiting for them when they reach their destination. Fortunately, as Kite ventures deeper into the Ant forest and the Squadron Leaders start to figure out what Nen is, and how they can use it, Chairman Netero and two impressive new hunters are on their way.

Welcome to Media Club Plus: a podcast about diving into the media that interests us and the stories that excite us. In these episodes, Kite brings Gon and Killua deeper into the NGL, as the ants rapidly construct a very familiar kind of society. Schisms within the officer class of ants leave Colt, the senior Squadron Leader, to try and pick up the pieces. After one of Kite's worst case scenarios come true, and the Ants have taken and eaten the NGL's underworld society led by King Gyro, another (unexpected) worst case scenario hits when Gon lands a nearly fatal blow on Rammot, one of the Ants' most bloodthirsty soldiers.

Welcome to Media Club Plus: a podcast about diving into the media that interests us and the stories that excite us. Austin joins us for this episode where, at the same time as we learn what a Chimera Ant is, we learn about how devistating they can be if left unchecked. After meeting up with Kite, Gon and Killua are working with him and his team to track down the location of a new, potentially very dangerous, Chimera Ant Queen. Unfortunately she's taken up residence in a politically and geographically isolated island: the perfect breeding ground for the ants to grow and spread. Oh yeah, and they talk.

We learn all about trading and we also learn that the teams who've been in Greed Island are total scrubs who literally don't know how to have fun. You know who knows to have fun? Welcome to Media Club Plus: a podcast about diving into the media that interests us and the stories that excite us. The magical girl we met turned out to be really mean, but it's OK(?) because she's really strong and she knows Netero and Gon's dad. It turns out the boys reaaally didn't know anything about nen, and they're getting a crash course (literally). And it's a good thing too because there's a guy called the Bomber who we heard about last time, except now he's killed a few dozen players. Remember everyone we met entering the game for the first time? They're all dead, pretty much, except this one nen exorcist guy. Also Killua leaves the game to try again at the Hunter Exam. I wonder how he'll do.

Welcome to Media Club Plus: a podcast about diving into the media that interests us and the stories that excite us. We're finally entering Greed Island! It's been on the horizon for so long but we finally see the boys get zapped into the game world. The Phantom Troupe, too! Well, most of the anyway. We learn a lot about how the game works, about the social life of other players, and about the dastardly player hunter named The Bomber. Oh we also meet a magical girl.
