Why do Muslims Fast? For Muslim and Non Muslim| Ramadan

Most often when Muslims are asked the question “So, why do you guys fast in Ramadan?” the most common answer is “to empathize with the poor” or “to know what it’s like to go hungry”.
Now although, these answers may be partly true. There’s a lot more to fasting than this.
If we were to look into the Quran, when Allah speaks about the act of fasting, it in fact reveals something a lot deeper.
Allah says “Oh you who have believed, fasting has been decreed upon you as it was decreed upon those before you, so that you may obtain Taqwa”.
Quran 2:183
Meaning, that the purpose of fasting is to gain Taqwa.
What is Taqwa?
Well to answer this, let’s take a look at an amazing story, whereby Umar Bin Khattab asks Ubay Ibn Ka’ab this very same question; “What is Taqwa?”
To which Ubay replies with an incredible example. He says to Umar:
“Have you ever taken a thorny path?”
Umar says, Yes.
He then goes on to ask him “So, how did you travel along this thorny path?”
To which Umar replies “I rolled up my garment and was cautious as to where I would tread to avoid being pricked by the thorns”.
Ubay, says “… This is Taqwa”.
It’s an amazing example that illustrates the meaning of Taqwa. A concept of being cautious and careful as to where you would tread, not out of fear of stepping into thorns, but rather fear of stepping into that which Allah has prohibited.
And by fasting, we can gain this virtue of Taqwa. By abstaining from food and drink, and constantly being cautious to not eat or drink during the day, we develop a heightened sense of awareness and god consciousness.
And surely if we can learn to be cautious in avoiding the consumption of food and drink, which are generally permissible in other months, we would similarly be able to train ourselves to be much stronger and cautious from falling into that which is otherwise impermissible, such as backbiting, gossip, the unlawful gaze or disobeying our parents.
And the best thing of all is that Allah has guaranteed those who attain this status of Taqwa with many blessings as mentioned in the Quran.
The Quran on Taqwa
For instance, Allah promises to be near to and love those with Taqwa:
“Truly, Allah is with the people who have taqwa“(2:194);
“Allah is the close friend of the muttaqin“ (45:19);
“Truly Allah loves the muttaqin“ (3:76″);
Allah also promises to ease the affairs of those who have Taqwa and provide for them from where they least expect.
“Whoever has Taqwa of Allah He will provide for him a way out and provide for him from where he least expects” ( 65:2-3)
So if anyone asks you why do Muslims fast, tell them this. It’s to gain Taqwa, a heightened sense of awareness and consciousness of Allah.
May Allah, the Almighty grant us all Taqwa this Ramadan.

হিংসা হিংসুককে ধ্বংস করে
أَمْ يَحْسُدُونَ النَّاسَ عَلَىٰ مَا آتَاهُمُ اللَّهُ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ
“নাকি আল্লাহ নিজ অনুগ্রহে মানুষদেরকে যা দান করেছেন সে বিষয়ে তারা তাদেরকে হিংসা করে।” (৪-সূরা আন নিসা: আয়াত-৫৪)
হিংসা এমন এক ব্যাধি যা শুধুমাত্র মনেরই নয় দেহেরও ব্যাপক ক্ষতি সাধন করে। বলা হয় যে, হিংসুক লোকের কোন বিশ্রাম (ঘুম) নেই ও সে বন্ধুর লেবাসে একজন শক্র । হিংসারোগ সম্বন্ধে ঠিকই বলা হয় যে, এটা কম পক্ষে একটা ভয়; কেননা, এটা হিংসুককেই প্রথমে হত্যা করে (অর্থাৎ হিংসা হিংসুককে তিলে তিলে ধ্বংস করে। -অনুবাদক) আমি আমাকে ও আপনাকে উভয়কেই হিংসা করতে নিষেধ করছি; কেননা অন্যদের প্রতি দয়া প্রদর্শন করার পূর্বে আমাদেরকে অবশ্যই প্রথমে নিজেদের প্রতি দয়া প্রদর্শন করতে হবে। অন্যের প্রতি হিংসা করে আমাদের রক্তে মাংসে গড়া দেহখানাকে দুর্দশাগ্রস্ত করছি ও আমাদের গভীর ঘুমকে নষ্ট করছি। হিংসুক ব্যক্তি (যেন) আগুন জ্বালিয়ে সে আগুনে নিজেই বাপ দেয়। হিংসা দুঃখ-বেদনা ও ভোগান্তি এনে এক সময়ের শান্তিপূর্ণ ও পূর্ণময় জীবনকে ধ্বংস সাধন করে।
হিংসুক ব্যক্তির অভিশাপ এই যে, সে ভাগ্যকে অস্বীকার করে এবং তার সষ্টাকে অবিবেচক মনে করে।
হিংসা কোন রোগের মতো? এটাতো অন্যান্য রোগের মতো নয়। হিংসুক ব্যক্তি এ রোগের কারণে পরকালে কোন পুরস্কার পাবে না। (অথচ অন্যান্য রোগে আক্রান্ত ব্যক্তিরা তাদের রোগ ভোগ ও তাতে ধৈর্য ধরার কারণে পরকালে পুরস্কার পাবে। -অনুবাদক)
হিংসুক ব্যক্তি তার মৃত্যুর দিন পর্যন্ত বা অন্যদের সৌভাগ্য তাদের থেকে বিদায় না নেয়া পর্যন্ত প্রচণ্ড ক্রোধে জ্বলে পুড়ে শেষ হতে থাকবে। হিংসুক ব্যক্তি ছাড়া সকলের সাথেই মীমাংসা করা সম্ভব। কেননা, তার সাথে মীমাংসার জন্য যা প্রয়োজন তা হলো- আপনি আপনার থেকে আল্লাহর সব কল্যাণ ও করুণা দূর করবেন বা আপনার সকল প্রতিভা ও সদগুণ পরিত্যাগ করবেন। যদি আপনি এরূপ করেন তবে হয়তোবা সে সুখী হবে। আল্লাহর নিকট আমরা হিংসুকের ক্ষতি হতে আশ্রয় প্রার্থনা করি। হিংসুক এমন এক বিষধর কালো সাপের মতো হয়ে যায়- যে সাপ একটি নির্দোষ দেহে এর বিষ ঢেলে না দেয়া পর্যন্ত কোন বিশ্রাম পায় না।
সুতরাং হিংসা থেকে বহু দূরে থাকুন এবং হিংসুক লোক থেকে আল্লাহর নিকট আশ্রয় প্রার্থনা করুন। কেননা, সে সর্বদা আপনাকে সতর্কভাবে লক্ষ্য করছে।

দুঃখের সাথেই রয়েছে সুখ إِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْر. ِ يُسْرًا"অবশ্যই দুঃখের সাথে সুখ আছে।” (৯৪-সূরা আল ইনশিরাহ: আয়াত ৬)আহার করার পর পুনরায় ক্ষুধা লাগে, পান করার পর পুনরায় পিপাসা জাগে। অস্থিরতার পর ঘুম আসে। অসুস্থতার পর সুস্থতা আসে, পথ হারার পর পথ খুঁজে পাবে আর রাতের পর দিন আসবে এটাই নিয়ম।"সম্ভবত আল্লাহ বিজয় ঘটাবেন অথবা তার ইচ্ছানুযায়ী কোন সিদ্ধান্ত নিবেন।" (সূরা-৫ মায়িদা: আয়াত-৫২)অন্ধকার রাত্রিতে এক আলোকিত সুপ্রভাতের আগমনের সংবাদ জানাও, যে প্রভাতের আলো পাহাড় ও উপত্যকাসমূহে ছড়িয়ে পড়বে। দুঃখ-পীড়িতদেরকে এমন ত্বরিত প্রশান্তির শুভসংবাদ দাও যা নাকি তাদের কাছে আলোর গতিতে বা একপলকে পৌঁছে যাবে, যদিও বা আপনি মরুভূমিকে মাইলকে মাইল বিস্তৃত দেখছেন, তবুও জেনে রাখুন যে, এই দূরত্বের পরেও পর্যাপ্ত পরিমাণ ছায়াঘেরা অনেক সবুজ অবারিত মাঠ রয়েছে।আপনি যদি দেখেন যে, রশি শুধু কষছে আর কষছেই তবে জেনে রাখুন যে, এটা অচিরেই পটু করে ছিড়ে যাবে। কান্নার পর হাসি, ভয়ের পর সান্ত্বনা এবং উদ্বিগ্নতার পর প্রশান্তি আসে। যখন ইব্রাহীম (আঃ)-কে আগুনে ফেলা হল তখন তার প্রভুর সাহায্য পাওয়ার কারণে তিনি আগুনের তাপ অনুভব করেননি।قُلْنَا يَا نَارُ كُونِي بَرْدًا وَسَلَامًا عَلَىٰ إِبْرَاهِيمَ“আমি (আল্লাহ) বললাম: হে আগুন! তুমি ইব্রাহীমের জন্য শীতলতা প্রদানকারী ও নিরাপত্তা দানকারী হয়ে যাও।” (২১-সূরা আল আম্বিয়া: আয়াত-৬৯)সাগরতো মূসা (আঃ)-কে ডুবাতে পারেনি; কেননা, তিনি অত্যন্ত আত্মপ্রত্যয়ী দৃঢ় ও সৎভাবে বলেছিলেন-كَلَّا إِنَّ مَعِيَ رَبِّي سَيَهْدِينِ“কখনও নয়; নিশ্চয় আমার সাথে আমার প্রভু আছেন, তিনি আমাকে পথ দেখাবেন।” (২৬-সূরা আশ শোয়ারা: আয়াত-৬২)নবী করীম সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম আবু বকর (রাঃ)-কে গুহাতে বলেছিলেন যে, আল্লাহ তাদের সাথে আছেন, তারপর তাদের উপর শান্তি ও প্রশান্তি অবতীর্ণ হয়েছিল।যারা দুর্দিনের শিকার তারাতো শুধু দুর্দশা ও দুর্ভাগ্যই দেখে। এর কারণ এই যে, তারা কেবল ঘরের দেয়াল ও দরজাই দেখতে পায়, যখন নাকি তাদের সামনে যে বাধার প্রাচীরসমূহ আছে সেগুলোর বাইরে তাদের তাকানো উচিত।অতএব, হতাশ হবেন না; অবস্থা একই রকম থাকা অসম্ভব। দিনগুলো ও বছরগুলো পালা করে ঘুরে ঘুরে আসে, ভবিষ্যৎ অদৃশ্য আর প্রতিদিনই আল্লাহ্ তায়ালার কিছু কাজ করার থাকে। আপনি তো এটা জানেন না, তবে এমনটা হতে পারে যে, আল্লাহ তায়ালা পরবর্তীতে নতুন কিছু আনবেন। আর অবশ্যই, কষ্টের সাথে আরাম আছে।তো সর্বমোট কথা হল আমরা জীবনের যেকোনো পরিস্থিতি থাকি না কেন আমাদের আল্লাহর উপর বিশ্বাস রাখতে হবে | কেননা আল্লাহ কাউকে টাকা ,ধন ,দৌলত দিয়ে পরীক্ষা করেন আবার কাউকে গরিবি দিয়ে পরীক্ষা করেন |কারণ আল্লাহ তাঁর সৎ বান্দাদের সময়ে সময়ে পরীক্ষা করেন |আল্লাহ নুহ (A.S ) flood দিয়ে , ইব্রাহিম (A.S) কে আগুন দিয়ে , ইয়াকুব (A.S) কে অন্ধত্ব দিয়ে, ইউসুফ (A.S) কে পরিবারের লোক থেকে দূরে সরিয়ে ,আইয়ুব (A.S) কে অসুস্থতা দিয়ে, মুসা (A.S) কে অত্যাচারী দিয়ে, ইউনুস (A.S) কে ধৈর্য দিয়ে , সুলাইমান (A.S) কে রাজত্ব দিয়ে, দাউদ (A.S) কে যুদ্ধে দিয়ে ,আল্লাহ তার প্রিয় বান্দাদের পরীক্ষা করেন কখনো বলবেন না "আমি কেনো" আল্লাহর কাছ থেকে পরীক্ষা আসবে কিন্তু আমাদের আল্লাহর উপর বিশ্বাস একটুকু বিচলিত করবোনা | #hadith #quran #friday #islam #muslim #bukari #trending --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/being-hosteller/support

(বুখারী ৬৫৭,৬৪৪,২৪২০,৭২২৪; মুসলিম ৬৬১)২.রাসূল (সাঃ) বলেন, "যে ব্যক্তি ফজরের সালাত আদায় করে, সে ব্যক্তি ঐ দিন আল্লাহর জিম্মায় চলে যায়। অর্থাৎ স্বয়ং আল্লাহ তাআলা ঐ ব্যক্তির দায়িত্ব নেন। _(সহিহ মুসলিম, তিরমিজি ২১৮৪)• ৩.রাসূল (সাঃ) বলেছেন, "যে ব্যক্তি ফজরের সালাত আদায় করবে, আল্লাহর ফেরেশতাগন আল্লাহর কাছে ঐ ব্যক্তিকে ভালো মানুষ হিসেবে সাক্ষী দিবে। —(বুখারী-মুসলিম)• ৪. রাসূল সল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়া সাল্লাম বলেছেন, "যে ব্যক্তি ফজর সালাত জামাতের সাথে আদায় করে, আল্লাহ তাআলা তার আমলে দাঁড়িয়ে সারারাত নফল নামাজ আদায়েরসওয়াব দিয়ে দেন! _(সহিহ মুসলিম-১০৯৬) • ৫. রাসূল (সাঃ) বলেছেন, "যে ব্যক্তি ভোরে হেঁটে হেঁটে ফজরের সালাত আদায়ের জন্য মসজিদে প্রবেশ করবে, আল্লাহ তাআলা কিয়ামতের দিন তার জন্য পরিপূর্ণ আলো দান করবেন।_(আবু দাউদ ৪৯৪)• ৬.যে ব্যক্তি ফজরের সালাত আদায় করবে, আল্লাহ তাকে জান্নাতের সবচেয়ে বড় নিয়ামত দান করবেন। অর্থাৎ সে আল্লাহর দিদার লাভ করবে, এবং জান্নাতি ঐ ব্যক্তি আল্লাহকে পূর্নিমার রাতের আকাশের চাঁদের মতোই স্পষ্ট দেখবে। _(বুখারী-৫৭৩) • ৭. যে ব্যক্তি নিয়মিত ফজরের সালাত আদায় করবে, সে কখোনোই জাহান্নামে প্রবেশ করবেনা। _(সহিহ মুসলিম ৬৩৪)• ৮.ফজরের সালাত আদায়কারী, রাসূল (সাঃ)-এর বরকতের দোয়া লাভ করবেন।_(সুনানে আবু দাউদ, মুসনাদে আহমাদ)• ৯.ফজরের দু রাকাত সুন্নত সালাত, দুনিয়া ও তার মাঝে যা কিছু আছে তারচেয়ে উত্তম। _(জামে তিরমিজি ৪১৬)১০. ফজরের সালাত আদায়ের ফলে ব্যক্তির মন ফুরফুরে,প্রফুল্ল হয়ে যায়। _(সহিহ বুখারী, সহিহ মুসলিম)সুবহানাল্লাহমহান আল্লাহ্ সুবহানাহু ওয়া তা'আলা আমাদের উপরোক্ত সব নিয়ামতের ভাগীদার করুন।আমিন #fazar #spirituality #islam #friday #hadith #islamic #muslim --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/being-hosteller/support

বদরের যুদ্ধ দ্বিতীয় হিজরির 17 রমজান মাসে মদীনা থেকে 80 মাইল দক্ষিণ পশ্চিম দিকে অবস্থিত একটি প্রান্তর নাম বদর সেখানে এই যুদ্ধ হয়েছিল তাই এই যুদ্ধের নাম রাখা হয়েছে বদরের যুদ্ধ| বদরের যুদ্ধ হলো ইসলামী আন্দোলনের সর্বপ্রথম যুদ্ধ এই যুদ্ধে প্রিয় নবী মুহাম্মদ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাই সাল্লাম 313 জন সাহাবী নিয়ে 1000 কাফিরের সাথে যুদ্ধ করেছিলেন এবং কাফেরদের পরাজয় করেছিলেন |এই যুদ্ধে মুসলমানদের 6 জন মুহাজের এবং 8 জন আনসার শহীদ হলেন আর কাফেরদের 70 ব্যক্তি মারা গেল এবং সমসংখ্যক লোক বন্দি হল|--- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/being-hosteller/support
