In today’s episode, I talked with Camellia Yang. She was born and raised in Jinan, Shandong province, China.
During our conversation, she told me how she started learning English during her special childhood and the way the Chinese school system helped her to learn different topics. Then she explained why she moved to New Zealand and got to live there for almost 10 years. Later, she recalled how she ended up in London just months before the pandemic exploded and why she wrote a book in English during the lockdown.
Aside from that, She also told me about her online projects: a newsletter, an interview podcast, and a digital media agency. As a side note, we talked about football and specifically about the Barcelona football philosophy. At the end of the episode, we taught each other a phrase in Chinese and Spanish.

In today´s episode, my guest is Danielle Annette from the US.
During the interview, she told me about her path to learning Spanish. She described how she was able to practice the language while living temporarily in Mexico and Perú, studying and doing research for her thesis.
As usual, in the last part of the episode, we talked in Spanish. She answered my question about her identity in her second language and shared her tips for learning Spanish.

In today´s episode, our guest is Patricia Hernandez. She is from Spain but has lived in Brazil and Portugal over the last few years.
During our conversation, she told me why she went to study in Brazil and how was that first experience speaking Portuguese there.
Later, she talked to me about how she got a job in Lisboa (Portugal), where she is currently living. She described the Portuguese lifestyle, her relationship with the locals, and how she learned English throughout her life.
In the last part of the interview, we switched to Spanish, and then she even taught me a very special word in Portuguese.

In today´s episode, our guest is Manol Roussev. He was born in Bulgaria and lived there until his early youth.
Since he was a kid, he fell in love with the german language and culture. Quickly, he realized that he would end up living in Germany. And that dream finally became true when he decided to pursue a career in scientific academia in a german university.
After leaving Bulgaria, he has built a life in Germany and has felt at home there. During our conversation, we talked about his approach to learning both German and English, his adaptation to Germany, the connection between language and identity, and his writing work.

In today´s episode, our guest is Juliane Cole. She was born and raised in the US.
During her time at school, she enjoyed learning Spanish. Later in college, she continued putting effort and time into this language. After her graduation, she got an opportunity to work for the Peace Corps organization and ended up living in Perú.
She spent two years in a small town in the north of Perú. In the beginning, the adaptation to a new culture in a Spanish-speaking environment was a huge challenge. But then, she made a great connection with the community, built strong relationships with the people, and left Perú loving the country.
Now she works as a Spanish teacher in a school in Tucson, Arizona (USA), and has plans to live in another Spanish-speaking country with her husband and three daughters in the coming years.

In today´s episode, our guest is Kayla Belush. She was born and raised in New York, United States.
From a very early age, she developed a strong interest in learning languages. Between high school and college, she decided to pursue a professional path in Spanish.
After finishing her college studies, Kayla got a dual mayor: in Spanish and International Development. And she went to Spain for a master's degree.
Over the last couple of years, she realized that she needed to create something to have a bigger impact on the world. And that´s how she is now running an online business as an English coach to help entrepreneurs develop a career in English as a second language.
During the interview, Kayla shares meaningful ideas about crafting our identity and accent in a second language, and the importance of cultivating self-confidence and public speaking skills to become better communicators.

In today´s episode, our guest is Raquel Campos. She was born in Spain, studied English at school, got an archeologist degree in the university, and later moved to look for jobs in England.
She told us how she started developing an interest in languages while working on a student project in Italy.
Also, she detailed her first years in England, where she began working in a factory, then in a museum, and finally changing her career to a completely different professional field.
She shares with us her challenges to understanding the British accent at the beginning and her best pieces of advice for improving it to a level where now she can comfortably work as a marketer for an English company.

After some years working as a professor in Peruvian universities, he had the opportunity to begin a new life in New York. There, for the first time, he started learning English seriously.
In 2020, he obtained a scholarship to study for a Ph.D. in history at a university in New York. Currently, he is conducting his research, working as an assistant professor, and using his English in an academic context.
