In this episode, I sit down with Ed Calderon to delve deep into the mysterious and often misunderstood world of Santa Muerte, the Mexican folk saint associated with death. In this episode, I sit down with the brilliant Andrew Collins to dive into his astonishing new book on Karahan Tepe. This ancient site in Turkey has fascinated me for years, and Andrewâs research takes its significance to a whole new level.
We explore the origins of myths, the symbolism of serpents and birds as depicted at Karahan Tepe and Göbekli Tepe, and the potential relationship with the Milky Way. Andrew shares incredible insights from his journeys to Karahan Tepe and nearby sites which are revealing more and more about the sophistication of the ancient people who created them.

Burroughsâthat involves rearranging words and phrases to unlock creative flow. This approach, Vic explains, extends beyond music and can spark ideas in all kinds of fields by tapping into the subconscious and reshaping our perceptions.We also discussed "sliding door moments," those pivotal life junctures where a single event can change everything, often guided by a mix of art, intention, and subconscious forces. Vic shared examples from music, showing how songs and symbols sometimes act as "hyper sigils"âshaping reality in unexpected ways. This led us to explore creativityâs link to manifestation and consciousness. While Iâm somewhat skeptical about manifesting through thoughts alone, Vic and I agreed on the importance of engaging the subconscious meaningfully. He emphasized that true creativity requires shifting between âgearsâ of consciousness, balancing conscious effort with subconscious flow.In the Plus show, we delved into the deeper purpose of creativity, beyond entertainment or self-expression. For both of us, art, music, and storytelling arenât just about creating; theyâre about transforming consciousness, connecting people, and deepening our understanding of the world. Today, we welcome astrologer Elsa, who has been exploring the astrology of people who have had Dark Man experiences. A few months ago, Elsa asked the community on the Spirit Box Discord for volunteers to have their astrological charts analyzed to see if any patterns could be identified. The work surfaced some very interesting results.
Elsa starts the show by explaining how charts break down for the first 12 minutes, so if you're already well-versed in that area, you may want to skip ahead. We delve into some of the evidence in my chart and discuss the parallels and contradictions in the charts of others (no volunteers were harmed in this process). Colby Sammons is a practicing sorcerer, occultist, and Buddhist specializing in Tibetan tantric sorcery. He specializes in teaching occult meditations and techniques but also offers ritual work and divination via his Instagram page. A proponent of Vajrayana Buddhism and Tantra Colby takes us through how practices within these areas have improved his life in almost every way. We explore Vajrakilaya and the use of the Phurba.

Today we welcome Briar of The Greene Chapel to the Spirit Box. Briar is a traditional witch, cunning woman, and fairy doctor. Her work is invested in the sorcerous duality of healing and harming and in furthering her relationship with the hidden by cultivating and deepening meaningful bonds with gods and ungods alike and exploring oneâs own soul and psyche as Other.
With a scholarly background in comparative art and literature (PhD), Briar is a French native born and raised in the mountains and now currently living and working in the UK, being taught by the land here.
In the show we discuss how geographical boundaries overlap or don't in the spirit world and how language itself can be a portal. Briar takes us through her initiation and her meeting with the Dark Man. Towards the tail end of the show Briar takes us through her thoughts on Joan of Arc and the overlap with fairy lore.
In the plus show we get into how the land where your magic happens may not be the land of your birth. We discuss Tor and the Green Chapel of Briars namesake. To close out we discuss the ordeal of initiation further and her relationship with the Goddess Bridget. A wonderful chat!
