Singer/Songwriter Valerie Bailey has worked with forBabyface, Gladys Knight, BeBe and CeCe Winans, Toni Braxton, Steve Tyrell, Milli Vanilli, Jeffrey Osborne, Luther Vandross and on the European leg of Whitney Houstonâs Bodyguard tour. She became a member of the legendary vocal group The Fifth Dimension, taking the spot of the famed Marilyn McCoo.
Valerie is married to legendary Earth, Wind & Fire singer/songwriter Philip Bailey and is celebrating the release of her long-awaited debut album, tentatively (and ironically) titled Greatest Hits, featuring eight originals co-written with the recordingâs producer, industry veteran Barry Coffing, and fully-lit, funky and hard rockinâ re-imaginings of Jimi Hendrixâs âFireâ and The Whoâs âWonât Get Fooled Again.â Working with a studio crew that included legendary session and touring musicians Lee Sklar (bass) and Michael Landau (guitar), she offers an infectious blend of raw emotion and inviting sensuality she calls soul/rock.
In this interview, Valerie discusses the intracies of navigating the music industry, her experiences of intentionally living outoneâs dreams by Godâs Grace and the formation of her âI Found Meâ organization.

If you are familiar with THE ISLEY BROTHERS, then you have heard the music of CHRIS JASPER, Lifetime Grammy Award Winner and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer who is in the Songwriter's Hall of Fame.
Jasper was primarily responsible for writing, arranging and producing all of THE ISLEY BROTHERS music during this time, including such beautiful love songs as âFor The Love of Youâ and âBetween the Sheetsâ and uptempo funk such as âFight the Power.â
His arrangements and instrumentation as a classically-trained musician, and his expertise on the keyboards and synthesizers, are the foundation of the legendary âIsley Brothers Sound.â
When the six members of THE ISLEY BROTHERS disbanded (1984), Marvin and Ernie Isley joined CHRIS JASPER and formed ISLEY-JASPER-ISLEY.
Without this crucial musical component, THE ISLEY BROTHERS were no longer a self-produced, self-contained group.
CHRIS JASPER brought his âunique soundâ and musical talents to ISLEY-JASPER-ISLEY, and topped the charts singing lead vocals on âCaravan of Loveâ (1985) an international #1 pop hit.
When ISLEY-JASPER-ISLEY disbanded (1987), CHRIS JASPER brought his âunique soundâ to his own solo projects, topping the charts with âSuperBad,â a song promoting the value of education. CHRIS JASPER has continued to write songs and produce his own R&B and Gospel music, as well as other artists, for his independent record label, Gold City Records.
CHRIS JASPERâs music has been covered and sampled by hundreds of new and established recording artists, including Whitney Houston, Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, Gwen Stefani, Fantasia, Will Smith, Alliyah, Queen Latifah, Notorious B.I.G., Tupac, Natalie Cole, Jaheim, Kendrick Lamar, and the list goes on and on.
His music has also been used in many movie and television soundtracks.

Laura Mordecai is a percussionist and harmony vocalist for Stephanie Urbina Jones, Robin Mordecai and Javier Chaparro and SalĂșd.
She's recorded with these plus others including the legendary Beto y los Fairlanes.
Laura is a member of the Recording Academy having proudly served terms as a Texas Chapter board member, Chapter Secretary and as Vice-President. She currently continues to serve as a board member and on the Chapter's Education and Advocacy Committees. She is also a member of the American Federation of Musicians (AFM Local 433), Austin Texas Musicians and a founding member of the Austin Jazz Society.
In This Episode, Laura discusses how she balances business, music and the uniqueness on being working with her husband and son in the industry. She provides insights into the work of the Recording Academy and her passion for performing.
