This week, we're talking about two of the largest restaurant chains in the world - Subway and McDonald's. Both seem to have falling sales. But they are handling it differently.
McDonald's Canada made a few tweaks to their menu to big fanfare. But even the chain calls the changes not "hugely noticeable". They are focusing on the freshness and temperature of the beef in their sandwiches as a way to stem the tide.
Meanwhile, Subway is running a big test of Beyond Meat Meatball Subs. I used to love meatball subs. I will be first in line if they roll this out near me.
One chain doubles down on their existing business while another tries something new. Who will be the winner?

Do you think the term veggie burger is misleading people to think the sandwich contains meat? Or how about Tofu Dog? The politicians are now starting to restrict terms like burger and dog to only refer to products that contain the flesh of animals. What do you think?

On a recent trip to Florida, I was not able to find a Red Robin that had the Impossible Burger in stock. If a consumer has to call a restaurant first before going there to check if there is food they can eat, they won't. Is this going to bring long term harm to Impossible Foods? Is this going to bring harm to the plant-based food industry? All I want is good delicious food that I can eat at any restaurant I wish to eat at... is that too much to ask?

Tyson Foods had a couple of exciting announcements this week. I am genuinely happy to see them coming out with a chicken nuggets product, and their "blended meat" announcement will be good to see.
