THE HYPNOTIST’S DAUGHTERS

The reason I thought to review Emmy for the vintage review last week, was because I couldn’t help but hear her as a huge influence in Taylor’s music for this Torture album. Taylor never does anything first. What she has done well is she has the best entrepreneur narrative creators around her, and they create an idea of a human being that will appeal to practically every woman on the planet (or in the west, but I’m going to take a gamble and say she has fans in Russia, Jordan, Africa….NOT JUST THE WEST).

Emmy the Great, has a very similar narrative, but she didn’t have the P.R team like Taylor’s, and she wasn’t a “all American good looks gal”, with blonde hair and also she’s not white. THESE ARE BIG FACTORS IN TAYLOR SWIFT’S SUCCESS (well it makes it a little easier doesn’t it?).

Emmy The Great’s narrative throughout the album First Love has 1:1 replica tracks to my life, same as Taylor Swift does. However, I can trust Emmy a lot more, because I know she has lived these stories and I KNOW she has written them, and you can tell the difference between someone who has written a song on their own, and someone who has compensated to write as a duo or trio, or whatever Taylor does these days.

Emmy uses a lot of words in her music, and they all fit so beautifully within the melodies she also creates. She paints a picture with her story telling I haven’t seen the likes of since Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska.

Taylor also always uses a lot of words, but sometimes they can come off as a bit clunky within her melodies. Never her pop tracks, Jack Antonoff seems to polish those off very well. However, the folk songs Taylor has done with Desner, could have been better worded within the melodies, but that’s the price of not writing a whole song yourself, it’s obviously not going to sound as organic.

I love the track I hate it here, but there are some moments within the narrative that could have been replaced with more meaningful ideas, concepts or metaphors…….but hey, CE’ la vie!

Taylor Swift, should watch this podcast and watch the two live tracks I’ve included of Emmy’s, and one music video. The last track is called The Hypnotist’s Son (which again is a fucking 1:1 replica for a life situation in my past…….JUST THE TITLE), it is such a beautiful, humorous (very Emmy style), provocative, intelligent yet not intimidating, but more relatable and vulnerable track with a really beautiful folk melody. It doesn’t have a boring folk melody, which is possible with folk more than not.

It’s only the truly talented who can make folk their own, because there are only so many places you can take folk music. Emmy makes it her own.

She devours it and unashamedly stands in the streets of New York at 2am and starts singing a song reminiscing about her and her ex-boyfriend having sex in a park, in which she sings that he said to her once, “i’ll stop it if it’s scaring……..you know that I can stop this anytime, if you think that it is tearing.”

A CRY FOR HELP IS NOT TAKEN SERIOUSLY BUT THATS KINDA HER FAULT…

Taylor don’t cry you are doing great and I love your narrative, why do we all relate to it so much? You either “Relate to it or Hate to it”……ha. My new Taylor Swift tagline idea. And hate can be better than love when it comes to attention, and attention equals money……..makes sense.

But oh fuck! This blog was going to be an answer to Taylor Swift’s cry for help on the new album TTPD to not criticise her anymore and in the title what do I do? What’s wrong with me?

(Im not writing the whole album name ever again, or I’ll just write “torture.” That’s better than TTPD, Imagine Taylor just had “TORTURE” written on all of her merch. Dope. Very Slayer.

I know of about five metal dudes who don’t know each other, that love Taylor, it’s a thing.

One metal guy said he liked her, so I tested him and asked his favourite song, and he says without a moment’s pause “OUT OF THE WOODS.” Lol.

And that is not a generally known Swift track, it’s very old now and this was only last year.

“TORTURE” OR “TORTURE TAYLOR SWIFT,” and on the back it says “NOTHING MAKES HER FEEL MORE ALIVE”…….like from that song on torture….. Or just a play on those lyrics, like - -

“THIS SHIRT IS FOR THOSE WHO WANT TAYLOR SWIFT DEAD.” And the back says:

“THANK YOU.

NOTHING WOULD MAKE HER FEEL MORE ALIVE.”

I know she wants to get that provocative, but she wants to reach this icon status more. Even though she has a PR team of Katy Perry’s dreams. It comes down to her in the end, she has to execute the knowledge they feed her and so anyway, that will be a criticism I shall tend to….)

This cry for help was met with a criticism straight away….my favourite criticism and the most popular at the moment, “31 songs! That is too many songs.”

……what?

How is that something to criticise her for? Criticise the fact that she plays the victim with kind of everyone she has a conflict with besides maybe the females, which she chooses to play the Karen, which is just as bad, however it can be fun…..fun if you are 16 and at high school……hmmm.

She has chosen once again to play the victim entirely with Healy, excluding The Bolter which she doesn’t say she did with Healy, but it is about herself and is confusing because she says that’s what he did to her, but then says she does that so if that’s the truth then bitch, you can’t blame someone else for doing it, and there should be no questions as to why he did it, because you do it so you should know why too…….phew…….but it’s all just soooo High School (WHICH is half of the album......And it’s great tbh ha).

….that’s another merch idea.

That is a version of Taylor performing a track about Matty Healy live in Paris a few days ago. She ends up on the ground, playing dead, after a dramatic performance of the TTPD song. She is very passionate in it. Its brilliant. Watch the whole set theres some good videos of it up now.

Or another t-shirt idea….“I PLAYED A 1975 ALBUM TO TORTURE SOMEONE LAST NIGHT.” on the back… “Danica Conwell specifically”….

Yeah I’m not down with that “type” of band. If you know what I mean then you know what I mean.

I love the band First Aid Kit, and I would say they are that “type” of band…..but they did an amazing random tribute to Leonard Cohen and killed it! So, that took them to a new status in my eyes.

In any case, I get the feeling Taylor wants to just play the victim in this narrative again. However, I do hear her knowing the answers as to why Healy “ghosted” her, I think she even literally answers it somewhere in there. So why is she begging for an answer to move on?

I don’t think I would ever ask someone why they ghosted me, I think it’s one of those things that happens because someone wants out, but doesn’t want to face you and say it because they are cowards. I’ve ghosted, I’ve been ghosted (however I tended to ghost first, before they could to me…….except once in which I decided to use luxury grade manipulation tactics to prevent the person from ever leaving (however, I get a lot of bad karma for that one….still, and I did this many many many years ago…….don’t do it).

DAMMIT! Ive ran out of time, so I can’t get to my point, but this is to be continued. I’m going to find and address every Taylor Swift criticism, besides any related to Kanye West because she was in the wrong there and why she is dissing Kim and not…….someone else who she didn’t start the fight with hahaha….is beyond me. Kim was just standing by her husband, obviously. That’s how a healthy relationship works, TAYLOR. In saying that, Im pretty sure it will come out soon that Kim is apart of this Diddy disaster and Kanye has been hinting at it and well…….maybe Taylor knows something too. It’s weird timing…..or is it?

Quickly concluding, most disses I hear about Swift are so ridiculous, I’m going to address them and I don’t really see “Swifies” coming to her defence…….so here I GO……AND this is because, on Torture she is yelling at her fans to stop! To just be nice, and shut up for once. But, after the 31 song criticism, I don’t think it was heard………so I shall digress.

It’s been a pile on Drake lately since Diddy has been arrested for CRAZY allegations which all started with some nobody kid coming forward to admit he killed TuPac (which I thought was suspicious straight away).

I should have a section just for hip hop sorry maybe I will with Foxy/Moron hosting instead. Well if her rap she wrote below is anything to go by, it will be a sure hit. I do blog about hip hop alot also. New hip hop though, why would I podcast about old hip hop? But I have to admit, old hip hop seemed alot more exciting, but maybe this is why Kendrick Lamar is doing this, he is just trying to shake things up. Drake mentioning Kendrick’s molestation has confirmed this is not a hoax or publicity stunt.
That seems a little full on Drakey, followed by Drake’s (basically) death threat at the end……. well.
Is Drake really a predator or is he just a powerful Freemason who could literally GET AWAY with murder? Which is probably the scariest type of predator to piss off. I’ve been/still could be in a similar situation. I know my limits though…….i think. Id hate to die in the hands of a Freemason, that’s not the message i wan to end with! They would probably sucicide me which would be soooooo done. CIA already do it, at least make it interesting like Sylvia Plath PLEASE. AMIRIGHT?
,,,,,In breaking news yesterday, Kendrick Lamar hit back at Drake only 24 hours after Drake dropped his diss. Drake took about 2-3 weeks I believe. This tells me Kendrick is all over this and wanted to make Drake look a fool taking so long to hit back…….Kendrick has it right though its a hip hip real time fight, get in there and stand up for yoursel ASAP. Drake is a top hip hop artist of our time, he should be able to write out quality lyrics within 24 hours, that’s not much to ask of him.
Well, this quick reply both shocking and funny, what a perfect reaction to Drake taking ages to reply, drop a reply less than 24 hours later. Perfect. I have to say Kendrick, let’s hope this don’t get physical and stays within the confines of YouTube.
