In today’s episode, Dr. Lloyd is joined by Dr. James Todd, professor of politics at Palm Beach Atlantic University, to discuss the U.S. Constitution, its founding and historical background, its benefits and drawbacks, and the factors that distinguish the American document from the constitutions of other democratic nations. They will also examine the constitution's role in designating particular responsibilities to the federal and state governments, respectively, and what the role of the Supreme Court should be in resolving potential disputes over this distribution.

Our featured speakers today are Dr. Robert Lloyd, Ethan Fant, Nate Olver, and Kelsi Morgan. Dr. Lloyd and these three students will discuss a student-led initiative called OSI- the Organization for Social Innovation- to create a space where students with different political ideologies can come together and discuss various solutions in a civilized manner. Ethan Fant is the president and co-founder of OSI, with a background in anthropology and history. Nate Olver is the vice president and co-founder of OSI, with a background in philosophy, politics, and economics. Kelsi Morgan serves as the director of finance for OSI. Kelsi has a background in business administration. Ethan, Nate, and Kelsi are all seeking a masters degree from Palm Beach Atlantic University in International Development.

Our featured speakers today are Dr. Robert Lloyd and Dr. Terriel Byrd. Dr. Byrd serves as Director of Evening Ministries Program at Palm Beach Atlantic University. He has served as workshop facilitator for the Cultural Sensitivity Seminar in Jacksonville, Florida, and was a member of the strategic planning committee meeting for the African-American church division of the Florida Baptist Convention. He is 2012-2013 president of the African American Caucus of the Academy of Homiletics of North America. Dr. Byrd published extensively with the Baptist Press. He has published the History of the Union Baptist Church now archived at the Cincinnati Historical Society Library, and has contributed to the Preaching God’s Transforming Justice: A Lectionary Commentary series in 2011-2013. His first full length book, "I Shall Not Be Moved" was an international bestseller. His second book, "By This Shall We Be Known: Interpreting the Voice and Message of Dr. King," was released in October, 2011. Dr. Byrd was recognized in Marquis 2011 Who’s Who in America, and the 2004-2005 "Who's Who Among America's Teachers," honoring the nation's most respected teachers. In 2007, he received the Charles and Hazel Corts Award for Outstanding Teaching. In this episode, Dr. Lloyd and Dr. Byrd will discuss race in American society and ways to seek further understanding and connection as citizens.

Ms Bytner received a Bachelors of Arts in the Liberal Arts from Sweet Briar College, located in Virginia. In addition, Ms Bytner received her Marketing Certificate from St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida. He is also the Loreen Beisswenger Farish Chair for Political Thought and Dean of the School of Arts & Sciences at Palm Beach Atlantic University. Our featured speakers today are Dr. Robert Lloyd and Dru Hammer. Ms. Hammer is one of the LeMieux Center’s newest advisory board members. She is a local to Palm Beach and a prominent businesswoman. Dru was the corporate secretary and board member of the Armand Hammer Foundation for twenty-two years. For nine years, she worked with the Los Angeles Dream Center, ministering in women’s discipleship and victims of human trafficking. She is on the National Board for Childhelp, a non-profit charity aiding victims of child abuse. As well, she founded the Hammered Heart Foundation, a nonprofit for women and children who have been left destitute from divorce and abandonment. In this episode, Dr. Lloyd and Ms. Hammer will discuss her NPO Hammered Heart Foundation and the role of Christianity in addressing social issues.

Our featured speakers today are Dr. Robert Lloyd and Dr. Linda Raeder, a Professor of Politics here at Palm Beach Atlantic University. Before joining PBA in 2001, she taught at the Center for U.S. Studies in Wittenberg, Germany. She has been awarded numerous academic awards, including PBA’s Corts Award for Outstanding Teaching in 2017. Her publications include a book on the religious thought and aspirations of John Stuart Mill as well as a three-volume study of freedom and American society. Alongside being an author of numerous scholarly articles on the nature and development of the Anglo-American liberal tradition, she also serves as a peer reviewer for scholarly journals in her field. In this episode, Dr. Lloyd and Dr. Raeder will discuss hyperpolarization.

Our featured speakers today are Dr. Robert Lloyd and Associate Professor in History, Dr. Wesley Borucki. Dr. Lloyd is the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences and Executive Director of the LeMieux Center for Public Policy. Dr. Borucki, who has taught at PBA since 2003, specializes in the antebellum South, the Civil War and Reconstruction, Colonial America, and presidential history. He teaches undergraduate history and humanities and also serves as a faculty member in the Frederick M. Supper Honors Program. Dr. Borucki’s first book, George H.W. Bush: In Defense of Principle, was published in early 2011; his second book, Ronald Reagan: Heroic Dreamer, was published in 2014. In this episode, Dr. Lloyd and Dr. Borucki will discuss the newest upcoming The Quill publication, No.8, which focuses on the Trump legacy.

Our featured speakers today are Professor in Politics and Pre-Law, Dr. James Todd, and Herbert Hoover Distinguished Professor of Politics at George Fox University, Dr. Mark David Hall. Dr. Hall received a BA in political science from Wheaton College and a PhD in political science from the University of Virginia. In addition to teaching politics and honors, he is director of the John Dickinson Forum for the Study of America's Founding Principles. Mark’s primary research and writing interests are American political theory and the relationship between religion and politics. Dr. Todd is a professor of politics and pre-law, and the LeMieux Center’s Academic Affairs Director. In this episode, Dr. Todd and Dr. Hall discuss a variety of topics including the attitudes of church and state on the founding of the country, issues on religious liberty, 20th century-present supreme court rulings on issues of religious liberty, and the debate on the establishment and free exercise clauses of the constitution.

Our featured speakers are Dr. Robert Lloyd and Professor in Politics, Dr. Francisco Plaza. Dr. Lloyd is the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences and Executive Director of the LeMieux Center for Public Policy. Dr. Plaza has taught in PBA since the year 2005 and is also part of the faculty of the Supper Honors Program. Before coming to PBA, Dr. Plaza taught political theory at Universidad Metropolitana, where he also founded and served as Director of the first liberal arts program in Venezuela. Between 1994 and 1999, he served as alternate representative of Venezuela’s Diplomatic Mission to the Organization of American States. In this episode, Dr. Lloyd and Dr. Plaza Latin America and the political state and development of various Latin American countries.
