In today's feel-good episode, we're joined by the founder of VEGAN Happy, Lorri Delahunty. Lorri shares the lightbulb moment she went from meat lover to vegan within just a few hours, having watched videos by animal rights activists Gary Yourovsky and Joey Carbstrong.

We discuss different forms of activism, and whether there's a polarisation in the movement between those who think activism can't change anything and those compelled to act. Lorri explains how she set up her clothing line to get people talking about veganism and the all-important issues with our food systems, animal welfare, the environment and our health and why she believes it's so important to be kind and support people rather than judge them.

Lorri also chats about the recent Face of VEGAN Happy competition, judged by singer Heather Small, Viva!'s Juliet Gellatley and Vegan Food & Living's Holly Johnson and how it's created a community of like-minded people who want to see a kinder, more compassionate world.

On today's show, we're joined by CEO of Save The Asian Elephants, Duncan McNair, and actor and animal welfare campaigner, Peter Egan.

Duncan begins by telling us about the atrocious treatment of animals abroad, including endangered elephants, in order for them to be petted and ridden by tourists. He explains how the UK's largest tour operator is still advertising these up-close animal 'experiences' despite being warned of the cruelty involved and how holiday makers are sometimes killed by distressed adult elephants and their offspring. We also discuss the fact that 32% of people visiting Thailand have reported riding an elephant or wishing to.

Downton Abbey actor Peter Egan explains his involvement with the cause and we explore the Bill to end the UK’s sale and advertising of practices abroad where wildlife is cruelly exploited, which is being debated in parliamant on September 5th 2023.

We kick off today's episode by hearing from one listener who found a new career at a vegan charity after listening to this podcast (yay!), Holly shares her vegan eats following a holiday in Cornwall and we announce some news that you might be a little sad to hear.

We go on to discuss this week's vegan news, including mainstream reports on vegan influencer Zhanna Samsonova's death 'from starvation' after a decade of eating a raw food diet. We look at whether a raw vegan diet is 'healthy', the negative bias towards veganism in the media and the click bait reality we are living in.

We also touch on the news that Little Mermaid actress Halle Bailey and her sister, singer Chloe Bailey, accidentally ate meat after ten years of being vegan. Should this be headline news? Is it OK to fail? And how would you feel if this happened to you?
