  • Yesterday I recorded this raw and real business update. I’m sharing 8 lessons I’ve learned from the last 18 months in business. It has been TOUGH and it’s also been exactly what I needed in so many ways (even though I wish it wasn’t).

In this episode I share so many things that I’ve wanted to share but have been too embarrassed and ashamed about. I’ve felt like I couldn’t share my struggles the same way I did in the past because I should have ‘figured it out’ by now. This is definitely not a helpful thought nor is it true. And it’s stopped me from creating my favourite content - honest behind the scenes updates about the work I’m doing on my business and my own perfectionism.

So I’m returning to what I love doing and trusting that I don’t need to be perfect in order to be perfectly helpful.

The 1st of July is a new chapter for me and my business. So this episode recaps the lessons and wins from the last 18 months so I can powerfully move on. And so that you can too if you’ve been making some of the mistakes that I have or carrying similar shame.

I’m so excited for those who have already decided to start a new chapter by joining our 12 Week Power Planning Challenge. (If you haven’t joined us yet, you’ve only got a few hours left to sign up).

I love the energy of a fresh start without dismissing all of the progress I’ve made and wisdom I’ve gained. I’m so much more skilled and mature as a business owner than I ever have been. And that came from some very painful lessons and resilience when it was the hardest to find.

    Tune in today.

And click here to sign up for PGSD and join us for the 12 Week Challenge if you haven’t already (enrollment closes in 9 hours).

  • EliĆĄka already had a 7 figure jewellery business when signed up for Perfectionists Getting Shit Done. But she was EXHAUSTED. And there was no extra time for anything else. Her dreams of starting a coaching business had been on the backburner for years. And having a second child felt like too much to handle.

Fast forward to today and EliĆĄka has two successful businesses and is 8 months pregnant with baby number two. Thanks to her success, her husband was able to quit his job as a CEO to be at home with the kids.

Power Planning allowed EliĆĄka to simplify everything she was doing and find time for more.
That means more time with her family, more connection with her husband and more business success too.

Once Eliơka got her perfectionist mindset working for her instead of against her, making space for what matters became easy. This is why Power Planning works for entrepreneurs at all levels of income. When your perfectionist mindset is on your side, your business grows no matter what stage you’re at.

In today’s episode, Eliơka shares her experiences with perfectionism, Power Planning and PGSD.

  • This episode is your invitation to believe in yourself and your business. Because if you don't believe in yourself and in your business, then you're not actually going to take the steps you need to take to have it be successful. And the irony of that is, we often want our business to be successful, so we can believe in it and believe in ourselves. But you really have to be willing to go first.

Tune in to hear my experience with that, why it’s so important for perfectionists, and how believing in yourself can lead to taking action even with doubts and setbacks.

  • In this episode I’m sharing how to identify whether it’s a knowledge problem, a resource problem or an implementation problem that is stopping your business from growing. You’ll learn how to identify which one you have and what to do to actually solve for it. And in case you genuinely have all of those problems - say you literally don’t have enough knowledge, time, money, energy and courage to build your business the way you want - you’ll learn how to prioritise these problems so you can find a solution for all of them.

When it comes to business, we often invest a lot of time, money and energy into solving the wrong problem. We end up getting so frustrated and feeling so ashamed because we feel like there's something wrong with us that we aren't making more progress. If you can relate to that, listening to this episode is going to give you so much relief. Knowing what problem you have and how to actually solve it is going to help you make sure you invest your time, money and energy into what you need the most.

I also share the mistakes and failures I’ve had along the way so that you can learn from my experience rather than learning the hard way. This episode is an important one for all perfectionist entrepreneurs as well as those who want to become entrepreneurs in the future.

  • There are two reasons I’m sharing a coaching call excerpt with you from my program Perfectionists Getting Shit Done:

Firstly, because if you’re a perfectionist entrepreneur then you need to know about false problems. Our brains create problems to keep us busy and distracted. This way we can subconsciously avoid solving more uncomfortable problems in our business or we get to avoid doing uncomfortable work. In this call you’ll hear me spot a false problem that my client was having and help her work through what’s really going on for her in her business.

The second reason I wanted to share this call is because it’s such a great example of the power of being inside Perfectionists Getting Shit Done. We perfectionists love to be self-sufficient in our mindset work. We feel embarrassed for others to see our messy brains and feel like getting help from others is a sign that we aren’t smart enough to do it on our own. But when we’re completely self-sufficient, there are blindspots that never get uncovered because it’s too uncomfortable for our brains to see them.

Being able to get coached on one of our weekly live calls or listen to the 200+ coaching call replays on the PGSD Private Podcast means that you’ll no longer be confused about why you aren’t getting shit done, keep burning yourself out or are struggling to get to your goals. When you’re inside the program you’ll be able to finally see your blindspots, without feeling bad about them, and then solve for what’s really going on. This is the secret to getting out of your own way in your business.

A big thank you to the PGSDer I coached on this call for giving us permission to share it on the podcast.

  • In this episode, I’m sharing 12 thoughts that helped me create content in a really easy, enjoyable, sustainable way that has proven to be really effective for my perfectionist brain. I wanted to record this in response to a PGSDer who posted about starting a podcast inside my group coaching program Perfectionists Getting Shit Done (aka PGSD). Tune in and find out why this is the case for perfectionists, and discover the 12 thoughts that will make content creation easy and effective.

  • In this episode I’m sharing a detailed behind the scenes look over a $250k launch, because this is such a great example of the advanced work that you can do on releasing your perfectionism handbrake. This will help normalise the ups and downs of launching (regardless of what kind of business you have) and demonstrate the next-level mindset work perfectionists need to do once you’re showing up and putting yourself out there.

Tune in to listen to ‘real-time’ updates that I recorded as we prepared for this launch and through the launch period. I talk through the launch plan and strategy, advanced Power Planning, advanced troubleshooting and more!

What you will hear in this episode is an example of what we’re going to be doing in the PGSD Advanced Coaching Group. In PGSD Advanced, you're going to be working closely with me and a group of other like-minded perfectionist entrepreneurs to get out of your own way in a whole new way. I'm so excited because I haven't actually taught what I do behind the scenes for my mindset work before. I've been demonstrating it through podcast episodes like this launch debrief episode that so many people love, but I haven't actually had a way for you to do that work with me.

We have already done early enrollment for the PGSD Advanced Coaching Group and spots have started filling, but we will announce the official enrollment dates soon. If you are ready for the advanced work, then stay tuned to the podcast. You’ll get all the details so you can decide whether or not it’s for you.

  • In this episode I’m talking to one of our PGSDers, Rachel, all about using Power Planning to get into creative flow.

Rachel is an artist that enjoys capturing people and characters in her illustrations and loves to share her creative journey with others. She joined PGSD because she had spent years dreaming of pursuing art full time but was too afraid to put her work in front of potential customers and start selling.

With the help of PGSD and Power Planning, Rachel finally opened her online art store and made her first sales – all while working fewer hours than she had before. I’m excited for you to hear how Rachel used Power Planning to grow her business and become the artist she wanted to be (without feeling stressed).

  • Two of my clients inside my program Perfectionists Getting Shit Done (aka PGSD) have given me permission to share this coaching call excerpt with you. In this call we are talking about emotional capacity and how to expand your emotional capacity so that you can do the things you need to do to build your business. If you resist and avoid doing things that are uncomfortable, this is for you.

When it comes to taking action we perfectionists get really frustrated when we have all of the knowledge but we aren’t able to do the things we need to do. Why aren’t we able to follow through? Because there is a difference between your knowledge and what you’re physically capable of doing (e.g. typing words on a computer) and your ability to experience the uncomfortable emotions that are required to get shit done.

Inside PGSD we support you fully with getting out of your own way and this call is a great example of some of the mindset and emotional work required to become someone who is taking consistent action towards their business goals without burning out.

If you find this episode helpful I want to invite you inside my program Perfectionists Getting Shit Done. We have just opened enrollment at the time of this episode being released and I will be teaching a live bonus workshop to those inside PGSD called Your First Power Hour to help you start Power Planning. It’s happening this Sunday 21 April at 7pm New York Time. To find out more about the program and sign up visit samlaurabrown.com/pgsd.

  • This episode was a long-time in the making. In 2019 I released an episode just after I’d officially gone full-time in my business sharing all of the nitty gritty details - the ups and downs, courage and self-sabotage, successes and setbacks. I’m sharing it again on the podcast, 5 years after it was initially released, in case you’re in the thick of this journey and you’re looking for something inspiring (and practical) to help you keep going.

When my goal was going full-time in my business, I was constantly searching for resources and advice to help me figure out how to transition from full-time work to full-time entrepreneurship. I didn’t have the confidence to take a blind leap of faith so I scoured the internet for wisdom on how to navigate it all. And to be honest, what I found was a little lacking! So I hope that by sharing the details of my experience I’m able to help you figure out when to take your own leap and how to do it.
