Yesterday I recorded this raw and real business update. Iâm sharing 8 lessons Iâve learned from the last 18 months in business. It has been TOUGH and itâs also been exactly what I needed in so many ways (even though I wish it wasnât).
In this episode I share so many things that Iâve wanted to share but have been too embarrassed and ashamed about. Iâve felt like I couldnât share my struggles the same way I did in the past because I should have âfigured it outâ by now. This is definitely not a helpful thought nor is it true. And itâs stopped me from creating my favourite content - honest behind the scenes updates about the work Iâm doing on my business and my own perfectionism.
So Iâm returning to what I love doing and trusting that I donât need to be perfect in order to be perfectly helpful.
The 1st of July is a new chapter for me and my business. So this episode recaps the lessons and wins from the last 18 months so I can powerfully move on. And so that you can too if youâve been making some of the mistakes that I have or carrying similar shame.
Iâm so excited for those who have already decided to start a new chapter by joining our 12 Week Power Planning Challenge. (If you havenât joined us yet, youâve only got a few hours left to sign up).
I love the energy of a fresh start without dismissing all of the progress Iâve made and wisdom Iâve gained. Iâm so much more skilled and mature as a business owner than I ever have been. And that came from some very painful lessons and resilience when it was the hardest to find.
Tune in today.
And click here to sign up for PGSD and join us for the 12 Week Challenge if you havenât already (enrollment closes in 9 hours).

EliĆĄka already had a 7 figure jewellery business when signed up for Perfectionists Getting Shit Done. But she was EXHAUSTED. And there was no extra time for anything else. Her dreams of starting a coaching business had been on the backburner for years. And having a second child felt like too much to handle.
Fast forward to today and EliĆĄka has two successful businesses and is 8 months pregnant with baby number two. Thanks to her success, her husband was able to quit his job as a CEO to be at home with the kids.
Power Planning allowed EliĆĄka to simplify everything she was doing and find time for more.
That means more time with her family, more connection with her husband and more business success too.
Once EliĆĄka got her perfectionist mindset working for her instead of against her, making space for what matters became easy. This is why Power Planning works for entrepreneurs at all levels of income. When your perfectionist mindset is on your side, your business grows no matter what stage youâre at.
In todayâs episode, EliĆĄka shares her experiences with perfectionism, Power Planning and PGSD.We talk about:

This episode is your invitation to believe in yourself and your business. Because if you don't believe in yourself and in your business, then you're not actually going to take the steps you need to take to have it be successful. And the irony of that is, we often want our business to be successful, so we can believe in it and believe in ourselves. But you really have to be willing to go first.
Tune in to hear my experience with that, why itâs so important for perfectionists, and how believing in yourself can lead to taking action even with doubts and setbacks.

In this episode Iâm sharing how to identify whether itâs a knowledge problem, a resource problem or an implementation problem that is stopping your business from growing. Youâll learn how to identify which one you have and what to do to actually solve for it. And in case you genuinely have all of those problems - say you literally donât have enough knowledge, time, money, energy and courage to build your business the way you want - youâll learn how to prioritise these problems so you can find a solution for all of them.
When it comes to business, we often invest a lot of time, money and energy into solving the wrong problem. We end up getting so frustrated and feeling so ashamed because we feel like there's something wrong with us that we aren't making more progress. If you can relate to that, listening to this episode is going to give you so much relief. Knowing what problem you have and how to actually solve it is going to help you make sure you invest your time, money and energy into what you need the most.
I also share the mistakes and failures Iâve had along the way so that you can learn from my experience rather than learning the hard way. This episode is an important one for all perfectionist entrepreneurs as well as those who want to become entrepreneurs in the future.

There are two reasons Iâm sharing a coaching call excerpt with you from my program Perfectionists Getting Shit Done:
Firstly, because if youâre a perfectionist entrepreneur then you need to know about false problems. Our brains create problems to keep us busy and distracted. This way we can subconsciously avoid solving more uncomfortable problems in our business or we get to avoid doing uncomfortable work. In this call youâll hear me spot a false problem that my client was having and help her work through whatâs really going on for her in her business.
The second reason I wanted to share this call is because itâs such a great example of the power of being inside Perfectionists Getting Shit Done. We perfectionists love to be self-sufficient in our mindset work. We feel embarrassed for others to see our messy brains and feel like getting help from others is a sign that we arenât smart enough to do it on our own. But when weâre completely self-sufficient, there are blindspots that never get uncovered because itâs too uncomfortable for our brains to see them.
Being able to get coached on one of our weekly live calls or listen to the 200+ coaching call replays on the PGSD Private Podcast means that youâll no longer be confused about why you arenât getting shit done, keep burning yourself out or are struggling to get to your goals. When youâre inside the program youâll be able to finally see your blindspots, without feeling bad about them, and then solve for whatâs really going on. This is the secret to getting out of your own way in your business.
A big thank you to the PGSDer I coached on this call for giving us permission to share it on the podcast.

In this episode, Iâm sharing 12 thoughts that helped me create content in a really easy, enjoyable, sustainable way that has proven to be really effective for my perfectionist brain. I wanted to record this in response to a PGSDer who posted about starting a podcast inside my group coaching program Perfectionists Getting Shit Done (aka PGSD). These thoughts will help you create content simply and easily, and they can also be applied to other areas of your business to empower you to show up fully.
Because yes, there might be some technical things that you need to set up when it comes to content creation. But trusting yourself - or what we call self-trust - is the most important ingredient so your perfectionist brain can create high-quality content easily.
Iâve made over $2 million in my business, most of which has come from this podcast, and the times Iâve made the most money and the most impact with people have been when Iâm in a high level of self-trust.
Tune in and find out why this is the case for perfectionists, and discover the 12 thoughts that will make content creation easy and effective.
Find the full episode transcript and show notes at samlaurabrown.com/episode464.
In This Episode Youâll Learn:
What self-trust is, and why itâs the most important thing when it comes to high-value content creation
The reason how perfectionists think can make content creation feel hard
What happens when perfectionists create content with low self-trust

In this episode Iâm sharing a detailed behind the scenes look over a $250k launch, because this is such a great example of the advanced work that you can do on releasing your perfectionism handbrake. This will help normalise the ups and downs of launching (regardless of what kind of business you have) and demonstrate the next-level mindset work perfectionists need to do once youâre showing up and putting yourself out there.
Tune in to listen to âreal-timeâ updates that I recorded as we prepared for this launch and through the launch period. I talk through the launch plan and strategy, advanced Power Planning, advanced troubleshooting and more!
What you will hear in this episode is an example of what weâre going to be doing in the PGSD Advanced Coaching Group. In PGSD Advanced, you're going to be working closely with me and a group of other like-minded perfectionist entrepreneurs to get out of your own way in a whole new way. I'm so excited because I haven't actually taught what I do behind the scenes for my mindset work before. I've been demonstrating it through podcast episodes like this launch debrief episode that so many people love, but I haven't actually had a way for you to do that work with me.
We have already done early enrollment for the PGSD Advanced Coaching Group and spots have started filling, but we will announce the official enrollment dates soon. If you are ready for the advanced work, then stay tuned to the podcast. Youâll get all the details so you can decide whether or not itâs for you.

In this episode Iâm talking to one of our PGSDers, Rachel, all about using Power Planning to get into creative flow.
Rachel is an artist that enjoys capturing people and characters in her illustrations and loves to share her creative journey with others. She joined PGSD because she had spent years dreaming of pursuing art full time but was too afraid to put her work in front of potential customers and start selling.
With the help of PGSD and Power Planning, Rachel finally opened her online art store and made her first sales â all while working fewer hours than she had before. Iâm excited for you to hear how Rachel used Power Planning to grow her business and become the artist she wanted to be (without feeling stressed).

Two of my clients inside my program Perfectionists Getting Shit Done (aka PGSD) have given me permission to share this coaching call excerpt with you. In this call we are talking about emotional capacity and how to expand your emotional capacity so that you can do the things you need to do to build your business. If you resist and avoid doing things that are uncomfortable, this is for you.
When it comes to taking action we perfectionists get really frustrated when we have all of the knowledge but we arenât able to do the things we need to do. Why arenât we able to follow through? Because there is a difference between your knowledge and what youâre physically capable of doing (e.g. typing words on a computer) and your ability to experience the uncomfortable emotions that are required to get shit done.
Inside PGSD we support you fully with getting out of your own way and this call is a great example of some of the mindset and emotional work required to become someone who is taking consistent action towards their business goals without burning out.
If you find this episode helpful I want to invite you inside my program Perfectionists Getting Shit Done. We have just opened enrollment at the time of this episode being released and I will be teaching a live bonus workshop to those inside PGSD called Your First Power Hour to help you start Power Planning. Itâs happening this Sunday 21 April at 7pm New York Time. To find out more about the program and sign up visit samlaurabrown.com/pgsd.

This episode was a long-time in the making. In 2019 I released an episode just after Iâd officially gone full-time in my business sharing all of the nitty gritty details - the ups and downs, courage and self-sabotage, successes and setbacks. Iâm sharing it again on the podcast, 5 years after it was initially released, in case youâre in the thick of this journey and youâre looking for something inspiring (and practical) to help you keep going.
When my goal was going full-time in my business, I was constantly searching for resources and advice to help me figure out how to transition from full-time work to full-time entrepreneurship. I didnât have the confidence to take a blind leap of faith so I scoured the internet for wisdom on how to navigate it all. And to be honest, what I found was a little lacking! So I hope that by sharing the details of my experience Iâm able to help you figure out when to take your own leap and how to do it.
