You either work nonstop trying to catch up or avoid your to-do list completely â and no matter what, it feels like youâre falling behind.
If that sounds familiar, this episode is for you.
Whether youâre new to the podcast or have been listening for years, Iâm breaking down what Perfectionists Getting Shit Done (PGSD) actually is, who itâs for, and why it works so well for perfectionist entrepreneurs who are stuck in overwhelm, procrastination, and self-doubt.
PGSD is a productivity program thatâs built specifically for perfectionist entrepreneurs. Instead of forcing yourself to be more disciplined or relying on willpower, youâll learn how to plan properly, follow through consistently, and build real momentum in your business. Youâll stop over-editing, overthinking, and burning yourself out trying to do everything perfectly â and finally become someone who gets shit done.
In this episode, I walk you through the PGSD Process, share real transformations from PGSDers, and help you figure out if itâs the right next step for you.

This is Part 5 of my 5-Part Clean Rest Series. I first experimented with clean rest in 2014 (though I didnât have a name for it back then). I just knew I needed a break.
In 2018, after another exhausting launch, I came back to it with intention. I was tired of burning out every time I pushed for a big goal. Something had to change.
Now, clean rest is the backbone of my business. It grounds me. It gives me the courage to put my ideas out there, even when theyâre not perfect. And itâs the reason I havenât burned out in over three years, even while making more money than ever and navigating motherhood.
In this final episode of the clean rest series, Iâm sharing how my own journey with clean rest has evolved and what it looks like for me now - both in business and in life.

This is Part 4 of my 5-Part Clean Rest Series. Thereâs one mindset shift every perfectionist entrepreneur needs to make about clean rest:
Clean rest that doesnât feel good is still clean rest.
Even when youâre feeling bored, restless, agitated, or like you âshouldâ be doing something more productive⊠it still counts.
Clean rest isnât about always feeling peaceful, recharged or inspired. Sometimes it will feel that way. But other times, itâll feel uncomfortable. You might find yourself itching to check your emails or thinking about everything you âshouldâ be doing instead. And thatâs completely normal.
Youâre a human, not a machine. Youâre not supposed to feel happy or motivated 100% of the time. And if youâre judging the quality of your rest based on how it feels, that perfectionist thinking is sneaking in through the back door â making you overthink your time off and work harder to ârest the right way.â
This episode is a coaching call with PGSDer Jenna where we dive into all of this: what actually counts as clean rest, what doesnât, and why itâs still valuable even when it doesnât feel perfect. We talk about the discomfort that can come up when youâre learning to let yourself truly rest, and how clean rest supports you in working towards your business goals without burning yourself out.
If youâve been trying to âdo rest right,â or only allow yourself time off when youâve earned it, this episode is exactly what you need to hear.

This is Part 3 of my 5-Part Clean Rest Series. In the previous episode of my clean rest series, I talked about how working from a to-do list makes it hard to get clean rest.
So what should you do instead?
Where does clean rest go in your calendar and how much of it do you need?
And how do you rest when youâve planned, so you honour your rest?
I answer these questions and give you practical advice in todayâs episode. If youâre wondering how to plan out your clean rest properly each week, listen in.

This is Part 2 of my 5-Part Clean Rest Series. We perfectionists LOVE a good to-do listâŠ
But working from a to-do list makes it really challenging to get enough clean rest - even if youâre making a real effort to have more work-life balance.
And I share the five reasons why - and helpful examples for each reason - in this second episode of my clean rest series. I also talk about why thereâs never any time for rest and why you feel behind when you work from a to-do list.
If you only get a break from your business when youâre busy recovering from burnout, this clean rest series - and todayâs episode in particular - is going to be insanely helpful.

This is Part 1 of my 5-Part Clean Rest Series. If youâre sick of being behind in your business (even though youâre doing ALL the things), this episode is for you.
I explain what clean rest is (i.e. resting without guilt) and why itâs essential for perfectionists.
It may not feel like it, but clean rest will help you work better and build a better business (with less overwhelm, less procrastination and less burnout).
Youâll have plenty of clean rest scheduled in your calendar when youâre planning properly as a perfectionist.
All that clean rest wonât be scary because youâll be so clear on whatâs important vs what isnât, when you work best and how to keep your plans workable so you never fall behind. Youâll be able to ENJOY your time off.
Itâs time to start planning properly as a perfectionist - and that includes getting the clean rest you need. And anyone can learn howâŠ

Itâs tempting to look at others in our industry to see if weâre doing things the right way, especially when others are more successful than us. We might look at what others are doing to decide what we plan to do in our business.
There are times when following othersâ advice makes sense, yet there are also times when following our own intuition is better. In this episode, I want to talk to you about when to do things your own way, why itâs safe to do so and how to productively compare yourself to others in your industry. Tune in today!

If youâve been avoiding a new or scary task simply because it doesnât have a deadline, youâre not alone. As perfectionists, we struggle to follow through on tasks that feel unfamiliar or uncertainâespecially when no one else is holding us accountable.
The problem? These are often the exact tasks that will move your business forward. And the longer you put them off, the longer you stay stuck.
In this episode, Iâm sharing exactly why perfectionists procrastinate on non-urgent tasks and, more importantly, how to break free from this pattern so you can start honoring the deadlines you set for yourselfâeven when no one else is watching.
If youâre tired of waiting until the last minute (or never) to take action, this episode is for you.

In this episode, Iâm sharing a powerful snippet from a PGSD coaching call where I coached my client, Arielle, on using Power Planning in a way that actually works for her, instead of against her.
As perfectionists, we often donât realize how our own thinking is making us stuck. We give up right when weâre about to see results. We tell ourselves weâre not doing enough. We feel pressure to plan perfectly, and when we donât, we spiral into overwhelm and inaction.
Thatâs exactly what happened to Arielle. She wanted to use Power Planning but felt unsure whether sheâd be able to âdo it right.â And that hesitation was making planning feel like a struggle instead of a tool to help her.
On this call, I coached Arielle through this mindset block so she could drop the pressure to plan perfectly and start using Power Planning to fully support herself no matter what comes up during the week.
This is why coaching is so valuable for perfectionists. You donât need another to-do list or a new planner. You need to rewire the way you think about planning, productivity, and persistence so that you can actually follow through consistently without burning out.
Inside Perfectionists Getting Shit Done (aka PGSD), youâll get access to weekly group coaching calls where you can get coached on the exact challenges that are keeping you stuck. Youâll also watch other perfectionist entrepreneurs work through the same struggles youâve been facing so you can learn, grow, and take action alongside them.
The doors to PGSD close in less than 72 hours. Sign up now at samlaurabrown.com/pgsd.

For most perfectionists, it feels recklessâor even harmfulâto publish âimperfectâ work unless a last-minute deadline forces our hand. Whether itâs content, a client deliverable, a sales page, or a piece of art, we donât want to let go until it feels ready. And by ready, we mean perfect.
But this obsession with making everything perfect is whatâs keeping you stuck. Itâs exhausting. It forces you to rely on pressure and deadlines just to take action. It stops you from getting enough practice to become truly great at what you do. And itâs holding your business back from making sales, helping people, and growing the way it could.
Iâve built a successful business because I learned how to emotionally allow myself to put imperfect work into the world. I let my ideas meet reality before they feel perfect. Without this skill, I wouldnât have nearly 500 podcast episodes and 3 million downloads. And this is something you can learn too.
Inside this episode, Iâm sharing exactly why you struggle to hit publish, the perfectionist thought errors making perfectly good work feel flawed, and the practical things you can do to start putting your work out into the world without second-guessing yourself.
Getting out of your own way canât wait any longer. Thatâs why I created Perfectionists Getting Shit Done (PGSD)âmy productivity program for perfectionist entrepreneurs who are ready to stop overthinking, take consistent action, and build real momentum in their business without burning out.
