No BS Inshore charity tournament for researcha dn treatment of Hydrocephalus. We were honored to do the shwo from the captains meeting and had some great guests join us. We were also fortunate enough to go on and win the event and also had Russ Russ come out victorious in the youth angler category as well. Try and get out and support any local tourneys in your areas also. People put lots of work into these and it is important that we continue to show them support. Get out and enjoy the fall fishing that is now and ahead of us.

Faith in humanity!!!! This week is all about the many different groups that are working tirelessly to raise funds and to gather essentials to transport to our neighbors in the upsate and in the Western North Carolina mountains. We have seen an incredible miracle at work, as the flow of these items is continuing to these areas from the air and the ground. We are joined by Carter Sheridan a young pilot and flight instructor from Georgetown, S.C.. Carter and his family have been working around the clock and with the help of several other pilots and plane owners, they have conitued a connection of all the essential items to the areas that are in dire need. This young man is an absolute hero and at 22 he is mature far beyond his years. We are also joined by our very own, Adrianna Lawrence with WBTW TV 13. Adrianna joined a group from SC Needs Help this week and had an exciting 36 hours on the road making deliveries in the mountains and upstate S.C. She will be doing a feature story this week so we did not want to dive too deep into her experiences. But, her description was "Life-Changing". Also joining us was Capt Fred and his great friend from Boone, N.C., Allen Burchell. Allen has been actively working on the ground in NC since the rains were just starting to clear out. He enlightens us on several things including the status of several areas in the mountains. He also shares some of the most essential of needs that they have for those that were displaced. This week, we don't get to discuss much in the way of fins, fur, and feathers, but I think we discussed far more important topics. Our friends at Black Mingo Venison Processor and Taxidermy say that they are starting to see some really nice bucks and the signs that love is in the air. They are prepared to take care of all your needs with your harvest including any mount that you can imagine. As far as fishing the inshore bites are really picking up along the coast. We are seeing great reports on flounder and redfish. Not just the Bull Reds, but plenty of slot sized fish being found in all of the estuaries and particularly around the jetties. Alligator hunting is on the top of many lists for anyone that had the fortune of being drawn for a tag thsi year. We were fortunate to see a big 12 plus gator harvested in the Pee Dee/Black River area. With the floodwaters making their way to the Santee rivers, anyone should use extreme caution if you venture up those ways and be careful of debris and swift currents. We hope you have a great week and if you can find the time or the ability in anyway to assist with the relief efforts, please help the many groups bring some help to the hills. Enjoy,
Capt. E

One of our favorite places to doremotes is on the stage at Dead
Dog Saloon. The beautiful backdrop of Murrells Inlet from the stage at Dead Dog could not be any more perfect for talking fins, fur, and feathers. We were blessed with some awesome company as Capt Chris, Adrianna, The Bassmaster, Ruthie, Bill Hills, Lee Rowlands, and Capt E talk about the current events and share some great fishing reports with our listeners. This week we talk a lot about the proposed solar farm that is possibly coming to Georgetown County in the near future. We discuss the effects of this on both the environment and the economy. We thank Dead Dog Saloon for the hospitality and the incredible breakfast we were treated to. If you follow this link, you can see more about the plans for the solar farm and understand better, exaclty how big this is.

The Southern Anglers Radio show this week covers a lot of topics. Next week JT Thompkins Fishing will lauinch his Elite Series career. Tournament fishing has changed and social media is a large percentage of the value that the companies in the fishing industry are looking for in their aponsored anglers. It puts a lot of emphasis on your social media presence and the imoressions that you are able to accomplish with content. The Bassmaster shares some of his thoughts on this topic and how the world of pro bass fishing has changed for the good and the bad, We are joined by kayak angler, Don Nesmith this week while be tournament bass fishing in his kayak. It was great to have his input today as most of the SARS crew are out of town this weekend taking some much deserved tiem to enjoy themselves before the busy season cranks up. Each year we try to give back to our awesome group of fishheads through our Annual GiftAway Extravaganza. This year we chose Waccamaw Outfitters as our venue and a great time was had by all. We were blessed to have Capt. Chris, Capt Matt"The River Rat", Officer Tommy, Chef Richard, Fred "Fish Police" Rourk, and Bassmasters EQ Angler of The Year JT Thompkins join us for the morning. With Waccamw Outfitters as a beautiful back drop, we gave away hundreds of dollars in great gifts and that included gift certificates to many of our partners. With the line up we had, there was lots of great topics and we, once again, are amazed at the maturity of our good friend JT Thompkins, as he shared many thoughts on his 2023 year and the future for himself at the top level of tournament bass fishing. This segment was far too good to not share and we wanted to give everyone a chance to enjoy the conversation ftom 8/19. Sargeant Kevin Pardue joined us to chat for a while about the many things that the wonderful men and women of SCDNR deal with on a daily basis. We have had a very sad summer in terms of accidents that resulted in death here. Please use your best judgement when out on the water and be polite to our officers that are working tirelessly to keep us safe. Our next guest can defintely talk about safety and more importantly miracles and the fact that God had a hand in his and his three diving partners safe recovery. Mr. Ben Wiggins was one of the four divers that were stranded floating in the ocean just two weeks ago and were found in the darkness of the night and safely rescued by our friends in the USCG and the U.S. Navy. This story defintely will open your eyes to all the possibilites that can happen to us when we are on the water and regardless the cause of this........a higher power had a hand in keeping them positve and alert of the surroundings and ended with them making it to safety. We appreciate Mr Wiggins and Sarge for taking the time to join us this week on Gator 107.9. Enjoy

Brad Schenk and Dave Rapp of SCDNR's fisheries education division joined us to talk about their recent recognitions by SCDNR and how our listeners can get involved with their program. We were also joined by our new friend Chef Richard Florczak, who was kind enough to donate an incredible dining experience to our fundraiser we hosted on this day at Barking Dawg. This item brought $5000 to our fundraiser for the Steven's family and helped us raise well over $22k for their mediacal expenses. We had a great time and lots of stories and reports in this weeks show. The one and only Flounder Pounder joined us on location and we talked about what the MIFC crew has been up to lately.
