  • There is something called the nice girl syndrome which is an idea and expectation that you have to be nice to be loved and accepted. It leaves the mark of not feeling good enough. Being pleasant, agreeable, and accommodating doesn’t mean that you have to make yourself less than someone else.

“Becoming and remaining a nice girl, is a kind of malnutrition to the soul of a woman.” -Asia Suler

What happens to you when you’re always put last on your own list or lucky if you even make your own list? In this episode Lisa is channeling all of her badass energy into exposing how you can be nice and prioritize yourself and communicate your needs. You don’t have to be afraid of speaking up and worried about being rejected or thought less than by the right people in your life.

Do a gut check with yourself on which one of these myths hit the hardest and come up with a plan to restore your power and balance where there is none.

  • On Today's Episode: When you think of makeup what comes to mind? Are you excited and ready to contour and beat your face to the gods? Do you feel like it takes away and diminishes the natural beauty of a woman? Or do you see women in makeup and feel critical, like she must be hiding something, she’s being phony or superficial?

When it comes to being confident, looks do matter, but maybe not for the reason you think. Mally Roncal is an entrepreneur and celeb makeup artist that exudes levels of confidence and beauty anyone would want. She touches on why embracing what makes you different, what makes you unique, and sometimes what makes you feel the most uncomfortable is a power only you can harness.

There is a connection between our inner beauty and the physical. You are not defined by one or the other, and there is no shame in celebrating yourself the way that makes you feel most confident.

Beauty isn’t about other people, it’s about you and feeling good and dressing up and highlighting your beauty in the way you choose to feel and look your best.

At this Rad Con Live event Lisa is joined by incredibly confident and strong women such as Danielle Canty of Bossbabes, Nicole LePera, and Eve Torres Gracie from Gracie Jiu Jitsu. The conversation gets open and extremely vulnerable. Discussing aging and insecurities around beauty, scars, and self-worth isn’t easy to do openly, but as women we need to be able to have these conversations.

If you struggle with your appearance or catch yourself judging yourself and other women for the choices they make and don’t make in relation to beauty and living above the standards, this is a must watch!

  • On Today's Episode: In a healthy loving relationship, neither partner is looking for ways to hurt their partner’s feelings. On a long enough time line, however, hurting each other's feelings or accidentally pushing each other’s trigger points is bound to happen. It doesn’t mean there’s any love lost, but it doesn’t mean that work needs to be done to diffuse the situation, resolve the issue, and reconnect.

Tom and Lisa have come up with a few ways of handling these rare moments for when sh*t hits the fan, tempers flare and feelings are hurt. Their tips will help you stay even-keeled and minimize any relationship damage by sharing tactics for you to put into place long before the next argument happens. The key is not pretending or fooling yourselves into thinking, “that’ll never happen”. The key is to be prepared and have these conversations while you’re emotionally sober.

Relationship Theory with Tom and Lisa Bilyeu encourages healthy, loving, life long relationships. Whether you are fresh out of your last relationship, on a break, taking time to heal from a breakup, or looking for ways to strengthen the romance and bond in your current relationship, Tom and Lisa are sharing their 20 years of experience. • By now, you’re probably proficient at spotting narcissistic behaviors in people and relationships you are involved with. You may notice gaslighting or maybe you haven’t been able to put a finger on exactly what seems to be off, but if you’re honest you know something isn’t right. Spotting narcissism and knowing someone is portraying narcissistic behaviors isn’t enough if you’re going to protect yourself.

Dr. Ramani Durvasula joins Lisa for round 2 to break down the rules of engagement. Understanding that some women are unable to get away from the narcissistic relationship they’ve been “stuck” in for years does not call for judgement. As Dr. Ramani clearly iterates, leaving these kinds of unhealthy relationships are never easy, and there is also no need for judgement.

    SHOW NOTES:
Words Hurt | Why words hurt more than we like to admit and the damage being done [2:45]
No Leaving | Dr. Ramani explains why some people can’t leave and how they survive [7:25]

  • We’ve normalized PMS, bloating, and mood swings so much you can find jokes, stereotypes and commercial products everywhere to treat those symptoms and more. But is it really normal for women to have all of these symptoms?

Dr. Trevor Cate is the bestselling author of the book, Clean Skin from Within and she’s also the owner and founder of The Spa Dr, a natural skin care line. She’s chatting with Lisa to debunk all of the symptoms that have been normalized for women for far too long.

It’s time to start paying attention to the symptoms we have and stop passing them off as the way it is. Dr. Cate shares in her new book how waking up refreshed from a full night’s sleep without coffee first thing in the morning and having energy throughout the day is attainable.
We have to start recognizing these symptoms for what they really are, our bodies' way of getting our attention and letting us know something is off. Diet choices have more impact on our symptoms and our ability to alleviate them by treating the root causes than you know.

  • Boundaries don’t push people away, they can actually make relationships closer. Anna Yusim says, “the stronger your boundaries, the closer you can get to somebody.” Have you ever stopped to think about boundaries in that way? I’m sure many of you, myself included, are guilty of thinking if we have stronger boundaries we’ll end up pushing people away. The fear we face of disappointing people or somehow offending them can easily keep us stuck in a space of not honoring ourselves.

This episode is for all the strong women (even if you don’t feel strong every day) that need a little more assurance that it’s not only okay to have boundaries, but it’s essential to the health of your relationships and critical for your own mental health. Start standing up for yourself (no one else can) and prioritize you, your needs, and what matters for you to flourish in the life you choose to live.
